Xavier was never the type to celebrate his birthday until he met you. He either sleeps it off or overwork himself like his usual busy days. Sometimes, he even forgot his special day. But in his defense, birthdays are just normal days. A reminder that your age is adding up and a reminder that you are getting older.
There was this one time, Jeremiah ought to celebrate his birthday by inviting him to drink even for a few shots. He was never the type to drink alcohol but because he didn't want Jeremiah to feel bad, Xavier agreed to his invitation and he remembered how much fun he had even for a short while.
After that year, he forgot about his birthday again. He went on his ways, just focusing on his tasks at hand everyday or spending his day cooped up in a blanket, sleeping.
But then you came to his life.
"Xavier, I'm curious. When's your birthday?" You looked at him, your elbows leaning on the table while your chin rested on your left wrist.
"Why?" Xavier asked you, confused.
"Why not? Come on! I wanna know!" You whined at him and pouted. Eager to know his answer.
"October 16th." Xavier said plainly and you gasped, racking your brains on what you should do for his birthday.
"I-in a week?! Why didn't you say so?" You could feel yourself panicking but you calm yourself down and decided to ask for Jeremiah's help later.
"I don't know. Is it that important?" Xavier asked while scratching his head. You, in disbelief just scoffed at his answer. Oh, what would I do with this this adorable guy?
"Ofcourse, birthdays are important." You told him with certainty and he just shrugged.
I will just show you then, Xavier! Just you wait!
With that in mind, Xavier went out to do something important while you pester Jeremiah for help. You told him about your plans and your biggest problems were the decorations and the cake that you wanted to bake for him. You only had a week left to prepare. The supplies and ingredients were supposed to be hard to find as you still had to go outside to buy but thank the heavens that Jeremiah had a best buddy that can provide the things that you needed. You suddenly felt relieved that you immediately came to ask for his help.
"So, by tomorrow, everything will be complete and you can proceed with the decorations while I make a layout for the cake?" You confirmed and he nodded enthusiastically and you sighed in relief.
"Jeremiah, you are the best!" You both high-fived each other. You couldn't be more grateful to have someone like him at your aid aside from Xavier.
"Thanks, bud! Ofcourse I am!" He chuckled and you bid your farewell to him to finally get home.
So the plan was exactly like this, the place you had in mind was in a place called Starry Sky, a garden full of a variety of flowers but you decided to put emphasis on forget-me-not flowers by planning to put it in the cake while you also have it in your table as decoration. You plan to play the instrumental version of "I See The Light by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi" on loop in the background so you could dance with Xavier after having fun with him.
The most important thing right now was to make the cake. You want to include everything that reminds you of Xavier. Bunny, because his adorable face and ways definitely resembled a bunny that you wish you could nibble on. Especially when he scrunched his nose! You wished you could put him in your pocket forever.
Star, because after meeting him, he became your light in the darkness and he gave hope in your life. Wishing you would never lose him. He is a constant reminder that you're capable of being loved and capable of loving someone.
And forget-me-not flowers, because for you, he is your one true love. And that if there was another lifetime, you hoped you would recognize each other and fall inlove again. You couldn't imagine yourself with someone else. And the thought of him falling for someone who isn't you, breaks your heart. So every night, you whisper at night how the stars would always align for the both of you.
Just thinking about all of these things make you want to bawl your eyes out and run to him. You hoped what you wanted to convey would reach him next week.
As days passed by, Xavier didn't notice anything and that made you feel grateful. As much as you're looking forward to let him know, you also wanted to give him the perfect surprise.
You got busy with the preparations of cake. How would you even put all of these associations in one cake, you don't know. You just didn't want your ideas to be put into waste. You decided to make the base with a big forget-me-not flower in the middle while putting a lot of small ones on each sides.
While at the top, you put the cursived word Happy Birthday in front, the gold color glistening beautifully. While the bunny and the stars are put next to each other and you chuckled as you thought of Xavier. Oh, how you just wanna hug him right now.
But you have to finish this cake today, so you can focus on helping Jeremiah on the decorations tomorrow, since it was the last day after all, before Xavier's day.
As you asked help from your friend to take good care of the cake you carefully made with love, she promised to keep it safe in her own cake shop. She was even feeling ecstatic for you, that you now have your own inspiration to make a masterpiece, yourself.
As you got home, you gasped when you saw Xavier on the couch, fighting his sleep to wait for you. He looked adorable and the urge to pinch his cheeks suddenly came into you.
"Xavi?" You ran to him and laid your head on his chest.
"MC, I missed you today." He yawned and wrapped his arms around your waist. You whispered that you felt the same way and smiled at him. His simple yet genuine words can always make you feel like you're on cloud nine.
"Let's go to sleep, Xavi." He hummed and you both head to bed. Arms on each other as you both drifted to sleep.
In the morning, you found Xavier heading for a run and asked if he already had anything and assured you he had tea. As he went to go on a run, you called Jeremiah and he said you didn't have to help decorate as he asked his other friends and acquaintances to help.
He told you to sit still and look pretty which you thanked as you remembered about your outfit for tomorrow. And you didn't even have a hair and make-up inspo yet. You tried to find anything in your wardrobe and you let out a squeal when you found a perfect white dress you had bought that you rarely used. You wanted to look like a princess tomorrow. The thought satisfied your fairytale thoughts. Oh, you're so inlove with Xavier!
Finally, the most awaited day came! Xavier's birthday, where you wanna flood him more of your love. Once your eyes opened, you showered his face with kisses. You giggled as you saw him started to smile.
"Goodmorning, Xavier. Happy birthday!" You murmured on his chest.
"Thank you, Princess." His soft voice made your heart flutter. He opened his eyes and blue eyes started staring at you fondly.
You tried to play it cool but your heart is beating fast, it's as if it's running a mile per hour.
You guys went on your everyday routine, him going out and you doing skincare. You stared at the clock, wondering how time flies. You're fixing yourself now and you know you have to move fast since you need to be at the venue first before anything else.
As you started fixing your hair, you opted for an everyday hair down look. And put on a forget-me-not flower crown. As you put on a light make-up, the anticipation was making you move slower than usual.
You shooked your head and reminded yourself that you have to keep going. You can't afford to destroy the surprise and if Xavier saw you, it would definitely ruin everything.
You put on the dress carefully and once you looked in the mirror, you never felt more beautiful. You can't wait to see his reaction. After putting on your heels, you immediately called an Uber so you could still compose yourself.
Xavier came home and called your name but there was no answer. He was confused and found an elegant suit on the couch. He went closer and found a note with your handwriting on it.
"Hi, love! Come to me here on this place. I'll be waiting! Xoxo." It read and he smiled faintly.
After fixing himself, he hired an Uber to get to you as soon as possible. He couldn't wait anymore to see you. It felt like an eternity whenever he's not with you.
As he arrived into the place, he almost ran inside but stopped himself as he didn't wanna sweat much as it would be uncomfortable. As he walked in a straight path, he found himself amazed by the flowers surrounded by fairy lights. He could only thought of you when looking at something so beautiful.
He looked ahead and found a table with a forget-me-not decoration but his head whipped in your direction as soon as he had seen you beside the fountain. Your eyes met and both felt the air stucked in each other's throat.
"Xavi."
"MC." You both said in unison and it made you both laugh.
"My princess, you always look enchanting. That flower crown... made you even more beautiful to me." He smiled genuinely. You attempted to hide your blush by looking away.
"Cute." He muttered softly and you catched it. Feeling yourself blush even more.
"Thanks. You look dashing, my prince!" The creamy white suit with elegant details and a star pin on the upper part of his necktie made him so ethereal in your eyes.
You felt yourself shiver at the thoughts of what's to come tonight. But you erased everything for now as you focused on showing him the cake and letting him know the importance of birthdays.
"Let's sit down, shall we?" As if on cue, Enchanted by Taylor Swift started playing into the background. He smiled and you both took a seat across each other.
"You prepared all of this?" Xavier looked at you with wonder. And you shooked your head.
"I asked help from Jeremiah and his friends also helped him. It was a bit embarrassing but I didn't wanna waste my chances." You scratched your head.
You actually wanted to do it on your own but you know you wouldn't be able to finish everything. And you really had no idea what to do, at first. It turned out better though, thanks to the people who helped, especially Jeremiah.
"Thank you, my MC." His soft voice rang through your ear. The way he said "My" clearly made you at bliss. The gratitude and happiness in his eyes made everything worth it.
As you guys talked and eat a lot, you clapped your hands and Jeremiah brought the most special thing for tonight. And it's the cake you had spent your days to make with the thought of Xavier.
You opened the cover and you saw the overwhelmed look on Xavier's face. Well aware of each and every single detail you put on the cake and what it symbolized. His heart felt like it was gonna explode from how you made him feel.
You started singing Happy Birthday to him and even changed the lyrics to Dear Xavier just to make it more personal. He told you he wanted to hear it too, next year. As you put on the candles, you started speaking.
"Xavier, you don't know how important birthdays are. But let me tell you, why it is important to me. Your existence has brought happiness into my life and I couldn't be more grateful that the universe conspired us to meet. Birthdays meant being grateful that someone you love existed the same timeline as you. And you are that person to me. I hope you know now what I mean." You started getting teary eyed a bit and softly smiled at him.
He smiled fondly back at you and tried to speak his mind.
"You... I have never met someone like you. You've been teaching me a lot of things and your kindness, love and understanding with me, made me feel like I was worth it. Thank you for being my person, and I hope to make you happy on your upcoming birthdays too. Most especially your everyday life." He stared deep into your eyes and you felt like you both got lost in a trance.
"Make a wish, Xavi." You urged him to close his eyes and so he did. You chuckled when he tried to open his eyes.
"What?"
"I love you." Those three words from him made your heart stop. You smiled fondly at each other.
You panicked slightly when you heard "I See The Light" played. Your eyes widened when you saw Xavier offering his hand to you.
"It's your favorite song, right? May I have this dance, princess?" You nodded and accepted his hand. He guided you close enough where you could hear the water from the fountain and the background music in between.
"Birthdays never meant this much to me. But you changed my mind, Princess." He spun you around.
Eyes on each other, you smugly said "Good!" You were having your fun when you both suddenly heard a sound coming from the sky. Turns out, it was fireworks painting the beautiful night sky above, making the moment with you and Xavier more magical.
He suddenly carried you, so you clung to his neck. The moonlight shining onto his face made him look more enticing in your eyes. You leaned and started kissing him. Xavier was startled for a bit but kissed you back after a few seconds. The kiss was full of passion, as if you're sure with your feelings to each other and no one could tear you both apart.
As you pulled away, the three words you were itching to say came out. "I love you, Xavier. Happy Birthday." You gazed at each other lovingly and the night couldn't be even more better, as long as you had each other. To next birthdays and everydays together...
