Chapter Text
Rain Pov-
“So kind of like me and P’Phayu?”
“Are you seriously comparing my situation with Gun to your perfect relationship with P’Phayu?” Pissed Sky stands up “I spill my guts to you and this is what you say?” Going around the dorm he collects Rain’s things.
“No! Not at all! I just mean in the beginning they both didn't really take no for an answer right?”
If looks could kill Rain would be 6 feet under.
“Rape is not the same thing as P’Phayu not letting you be a brat. You deserve it when he does that.” Sky throws Rain’s things at him “Get out. You're the worst friend ever and I never want to see you again.” With that Sky pushes Rain out and slams the door in his face leaving Rain outside, bearfoot and without a second to register what just happened.
Putting his shoes on, Rain starts walking home, going over the conversation with Sky in his head. Replaying his words.
“You deserve it. You're the worst friend ever.” I deserve it? Deserve what? P’Phayu treating me like a brat? I know that, that’s what makes it so fun. Maybe he means something else? We were talking about P’Phayu so it has to have something to do with him. And Gun. P’Phayu and Gun. “You deserve it when he does that.” There isn’t anything similar to them except the no thing in the beginning. That must be it! Sky said it wasn’t similar to what Gun did and P’Phayu never did anything like that again so maybe that’s just how all relationships start? Damn and I compared it to what happened with Gun. No wonder he’s so upset.
Walking onto the street that leads to his house, Rain lets his brain wander a little more. After the bathroom incident all that Sky said was not to get on P’Phauy’s bad side. That everyone loves him and if I piss him off he could ruin me with one conversation. I didn’t really listen at the time, but I know he didn’t say anything about what happened in the bathroom. Sky’s smart there is no way he didn’t know what was going on and since he didn’t say anything it must be normal. I don’t know how Sky and Prapai got together but I know Sky was avoiding him so it must be something similar. Besides P’Phayu never did anything like that after we officially got together, and P’Phayu was right I did want it. Maybe not in that second but I did want it.
Arriving at his front door cut off any further thinking. Unlocking the door he quietly went to his room, closing the door and shutting off the light leaving only a dim light from his lamp.
Thank God tomorrow is Saturday. I’ll find some way to make it up to Sky then.
Sky Pov-
After slamming the door in Rain’s face Sky gripped his hair in frustration. Stomping to the living room he grabs the throw pillows and throws them against his walls. Not yet satisfied, he grabs the snacks he and Rain were eating before throwing them as well. Before he could throw the drinks as well the doorbell interrupts.
Narrowing his eyes he walks over. “I swear to God if it’s Rain I’m going to- P’Pai.” Prapai was standing there holding bags of takeout. With what happened with Rain, Sky had totally forgot that Prapai was coming over with food for the three of them.
Narrowing his eyes again he looks at Prapai. “This is your fault.” He goes to slam the door again but Prapai was quick enough to slip his foot inside.
“Sky? What happened? What did I do?” He looks around the dorm “And where’s Rain? I thought he was staying the night.”
“Rain is gone and I never want to see him again.” Sky didn’t bother keeping the disgust from his voice “And you are the one that told me to tell him everything. You said telling him about Gun would make me feel better. Well guess what? Screw Rain and screw you.”
Prapai quickly made his way inside the dorm, closing the door behind him. “Sky? Sky, look. There has to be another explanation okay? This is all a misunderstanding, what did Rain do? You know that he would never judge you.”
Sky shot Prapai a look before sitting on the couch. “Judge me? No, he didn’t do that.”
“Sky?” Prapai follows behind him sitting on the couch as well. Sky huffed “He didn’t judge me, he compared Gun to P’Phayu.”
“What?”
“Exactly! I tell him everything just for him to compare it to his piss perfect relationship!”
“Wow wow wow. Hold on a minute. Look Rain’s a little oblivious but he is not stupid, there has to be some explanation. Tell me everything he said word for word.”
Rolling his eyes, Sky told Prapai the whole conversation, his anger making him remember every word that both he and Rain had said. After finishing he waited for Prapai to say something. After a few minutes of silence Prapai looked up at Sky, his face full of confusion and worry.
“Well?” Sky raised an eyebrow
“Sky? When did Phayu and N’Rain first meet?”
“What? What does this have to do with anything?”
“Please just answer the question.” Crossing his arms Sky thinks back to the first time he saw Rain and Phayu together. “I’m not too sure. The first time I saw them interact was when Phayu came to the school looking for Rain.
“For what?” Furrowing his eyebrows a bit, Sky frowns “I’m not sure. Rain never said. Phayu just came looking for Rain one day. When he saw him, he started talking about a payment and touching something, but Rain dragged him away before he could say anything else.”
Looking at Prapai he saw he looked even more worried than before. “Okay and then what happened?”
“Why would I know?”
“Well didn’t Rain say anything?”
Sky shook his head. “All that happened was Rain coming back pretty jumpy and me telling him to stay on Phayu’s good side. That Phayu was the campus God and he didn’t want to upset him.”
“Jumpy?”
“Yeah. He was all jumpy, the only other time that he was jumpy like this was after the codeline dinner. He kept hiding behind pillars and cursing the storm.”
“Codeline dinner. Didn’t Phayu go to that dinner?”
Sky shrugged, “I’m not sure, maybe.” By this time most of Sky’s anger at Rain had turned into confusion. What was Prapai going on about?
Prapai went slightly pale. “Sky” He started sounding hesitant “You said Phayu was the first guy that Rain was attracted to?” A nod “And that while Rain’s been with girls Phayu was the first time he’s been with a guy?” Another more confused nod.
Prapai quickly stood. “I need to go. I have to talk to Phayu.” Sky beyond confused at this point grabs his wrist stopping him in place.
“Prapai! What on Earth are you talking about? Talk to Phayu? We weren’t even focusing on him. We were talking about Rain.” Prapai turned to Sky, biting his lip “I can see you thinking, just tell me already.”
“My Sky. I’m not sure if I’m reading too much into this, I might be way off track but I have to check. I’m not liking what I’m hearing.”
Rolling his eyes, Sky drops Prapai’s wrist. “If this is about Rain and his perfect relationship then just tell me. Rain’s probably crying about what happened to Phayu by now anyways.”
Nodding Prapai decides to sit back down. “You’re right. I don’t want them together when I ask anyways.”
“So?” Prapai looks at Sky confused “Are you going to tell me or not?”
Sighing Prapai nods. “But you have to hear me out ok? And listen with an open mind. Don’t think about this being Rain, imagine it being a random person if you need to.”
Rolling his eyes for what has to have been the 100th time that night Sky nods. “Talk.”
“Okay well- so you don’t know how Rain and Phayu met but it was most likely the night of the codeline dinner.” Sky nods “ You didn’t hear from Rain that night even though you told him to text you when he got home. And the next morning he comes to school all jumpy and hiding behind things.”
Sky slowly nods his head again, a sinking feeling in his stomach. “He also starts cursing out the ‘storm’ which is what Phayu’s name means. Then Phayu comes to the school and talks about payment and touching something before Rain cuts him off. And once you see him again, he is jumpy and nervous again. But before he can tell you anything you basically tell him that he has to stay on Phayu’s good side or else. Following along?”
Sky nods his head, biting his lower lip. When put like that it doesn’t sound very good.
“Then Rain tells you he has to win a guy over out of nowhere and the next time that you see them together it is on a date. Do you see where I am going with this? Because it sounds like something happened between the two. And then you and everyone around Rain told him that Phayu is a great guy and everyone loves him.
And in the month between when you saw Phayu at the school and the time you saw them on a date; not only was Rain no longer jumpy around Phayu but was dating him and if I know Phayu probably having sex, a lot. And then when you talked to Rain about Gun he mentioned that he was similar to Phayu in the beginning of their relationship. None of this raised any red flags for you?”
Sky stayed silent. Taking a deep breath Prapai delivers the finishing blow.
“Did you even ask him why he thought they were similar? Or did you just assume Rain was being a jerk and not only told him that he deserved everything that happened to him but also kicked him out and told him he was a shit friend.”
Sky sat there looking at his hands. He was no longer angry, instead he was just feeling confused and guilty. So so guilty.
Did I really read it all wrong? When put like that if it was anyone else I would have assumed the worst. So why did I brush it off when it was Rain? Even if Prapai is wrong, I as Rain’s best friend should be able to confidently tell Prapai that he was misunderstanding everything. So why can’t I? Didn’t Rain tell me that Phayu was a bad guy after the codeline dinner? I can’t believe I just brushed him off. What kind of friend am I?
Prapai cleared his throat, gaining Sky’s attention. Noticing Sky was looking at him he asked “Well?”
Letting out a breath Sky didn’t realize he had been holding, he looks down. “I don’t know. I don’t know if you’re right but I can’t say with confidence that you’re wrong.”
Prapai’s face drops. “Damn, I was really hoping you’d say that I was crazy to even think that could happen.”
“How do we know for sure?”
“Well, you could call Rain. Ask him to come over, it is only 9. He is usually still awake at this time.”
Sky nods, grabbing his phone from the kitchen before coming back and calling Rain. “He’s not answering.” Sky tries again before he remembers what he told Rain barely an hour ago. Eyes widening he looks over at Prapai.
“Prapai. I told Rain that he was a horrible friend, that I never wanted to see him again. That’s probably why he isn’t answering.” Sky’s eyes start tearing up. “I told him that he was a bad friend and to get lost. I threw him out. I-I told him that he deserved it.” That’s what causes him to start crying.
If Pai’s right, then I am the worst friend- no worst person ever. I told a potential sexual assault victim that he deserve it. Rain was so understanding and supportive and I yelled at him.
Sky looks over at Prapai seeing him on the phone. He must have been so lost in his head that he didn’t see Pai get on the phone. Trying to pay attention he catches what has to have been the end of the conversation.
“-okay. No don’t worry, he just forgot something at Sky’s. But Sky can bring it to him at school on Monday. Mm”
Prapai looks over at Sky. “Rain isn’t at Phayu’s. He thought that Rain was supposed to stay the night.”
Sky takes a deep breath, trying to gain a little bit of control back. “He must be at his parents then. It’s not that far away.”
“If he’s with his family then we’ll leave him be for tonight. We can call him tomorrow and talk to him then, ok?” Sky nods, wrapping his arms around Prapai. “It’s okay, let’s just eat and have an early night. We can deal with everything in the morning with a clear head.”
Nodding Sky heads to the bedroom.
