Chapter Text
It was a bad idea to drink the ocean stew.
Gem had fished it up, unsure of its effects. Curious, she decided to stash it in her inventory for now, fishing for a little while longer before sailing back to magic mountain. Upon her arrival, she encountered Grian building some kind of structure in his base.
“Hey Grian!” she called, waving to him.
“Oh! Hey Gem! What’s up?” he questioned, putting away the blocks he was building with to walk over to her.
Gem smirked mischievously. “I got this stew that I fished up,” she replied, holding up the bowl of the orange liquid. It seemed to glow slightly, and had a pungent scent emanating from it. Overall, it was repulsive.
Grian eyed it suspiciously, wings twitching. “I’m not drinking that. Actually, you should drink it! You found it, after all,” he suggested, clearly reluctant to drink a strange substance Gem found at the bottom of the ocean. Yeah, that made sense. Gem, however, was not one for safety, and so she grinned and downed the whole thing in one go. Her ears twitched, and she felt fuzzy. Her whole body tingled, making her feel light and strange.
“Woah, Grian, I feel… weird.” She swayed in place slightly. Grian just held his arms out to catch her in case she fell, a worried look on his face.
“Gem, if you die, remember that I told you not to drink the weird sea soup,” he warned, retracting his arms once he knew she was steady. Gem raised an eyebrow.
“Sure, that’s definitely what happened,” Gem laughed slightly.
He chuckled, before gliding away to pester Scar. Gem waved goodbye to him as she returned to her base, still feeling odd but deciding it was nothing.
The looming buildings standing above the river of her base put her at ease, a familiar environment welcome. She entered the nearest house she could find, collapsing onto the bed inside.
She was still shaking slightly, even as she let sleep encompass her in it’s cool grasp.
