2023 - June 21st
Jimmy the Workaholic
There was a frustrated sigh and then a loud thump as a blonde man threw his head down onto his desk. Work was going to kill Jimmy, the workload wasn't entirely bad but he had been helping out Microsoft customers all day.
They had all been calls and he had dealt with old people having trouble just starting their computers, angry people who didn't think the simple solution was the solution, and one person who just spoke Spanish the entire time. Jimmy was not caught up in his Spanish lessons, unfortunately.
Finally his shift was over. He usually worked a 9-5 on weekdays except for a few holidays that his whole job would be excused from. These days were all spent at home, Jimmy had opted for a work from home position but he was regretting it.
Jimmy was an outgoing and extroverted person, he loved to talk so as much as he complained about the people on the phone calls, he just genuinely enjoyed talking to them. However, his boss only had him doing calls two times a week at the most, the rest was reserved for looking over minor bug reports, researching AI (not that he was a fan), and so much more.
The blonde was what his boss called an 'all around' employee, it wasn't an official term and he probably didn't have the proper education to be doing most of his jobs but since he still showed up and tried his best, his boss let him have the job. He honestly mostly filled in for when people in the company were gone for the day.
After three years at the job Jimmy fully intended to quit since he was moving out of the city but his boss offered him a position and pay he couldn't refuse, especially when he had told him that it could be done from home.
Speaking of his great move, Jimmy was neutral about it all. In the city he had no connections, only a few coworkers he'd talk to but never outside of work. When his brother had reached out in December, saying there was a house on the market for dirt cheap in the small town he lived in, how could Jimmy refuse?
Jimmy missed his brother dearly, him and Grian were closer then close. They had grown up in a fairly large town and after high school, Grian opted to start new and fresh in the small town of Canary, while Jimmy moved to the big city, hoping it would fulfil his extroverted needs. Spoiler: it didn't.
After moving, Jimmy still was lonely but considerably less, he and Grian had dinner at least one a week, sometimes with his brothers strange boyfriend too.
Suddenly his phone beeped, making Jimmy jump out of his head and reach for his phone. The bright screen lit up the dark room, he found that working in the dark kept his usual headaches at bay. Jimmy figured headaches were bound to happen considering all he did almost every day was stare at a large PC screen.
The text message was from Grian, how convenient.
Grian:
Hey Tim, making a tomato and cheese pasta for dinner, want to come around after your shift?
Jimmy didn't want to go, his head thumped, furiously asking for a break, but his heart wanted to see his brother. He decided just to pop a aspirin and head over, it could be worse after all.
After Jimmy had responded, he left his office to where his cat Norman sat, tall swishing back and fourth, clearing waiting for him. Jimmy cooed and awed, he couldn't help it. He adored his cat.
There was a quick cuddle session before Jimmy walked downstairs, Norman on his heels, and went to the kitchen. He'd have to feed Norman his wet food before he went over or he'd simply have a fit.
Jimmy wrinkled his nose in disgust as he opened the stinky cat food which was fish flavoured, Norman enjoyed it so he continued feeding it, even if he wanted to throw up every time had to give it to his cat.
When Norman was happily bent down, occupied with his food, Jimmy smiled and grabbed his keys by hanging by the door. "Bye Normie!" he called and opened the door and left, of course locking it behind him.
Jimmy carefully tiptoed on his wooden porch, it creaking heavily and he figured it had less then a few months of life before Jimmy would go through it. Grian rambled that he could get some of his friends to help fix it but these friends were all aged 60 or older, Jimmy couldn't let the elderly do it!
Speaking of Grian and his friends, Jimmy found it weird that him and his boyfriend, Scar, only had friends that were retirement age. There was a handful of young couples they could befriend but they chose to hangout with dementia patients.
Perhaps dementia patients was a bit harsh, but Jimmy had met a few of them and they were definitely a bit out of it.
The male sighed with relief as he leaned from the porch to the ground, there were stairs at one point but the two planks of wood had caved in. The house was falling apart, that's why it had been so cheap, that and the population was majority elderly, it was more seen as a retirement town then anything.
Jimmy quickly walked down the path from his porch to the sidewalk. He took a left, Grian lived further down the street, closer to the main road. As he passed the first house, a set of blue eyes accidentally met Jimmy's own eyes as he snuck a glance at the neighbors house.
Jimmy sighed, he should of crossed the road while he had the chance. "Timmy!" the man exclaimed a toothy smile coming across his face. He had faded blonde hair that was turning grey due to old age, as well as more then a few wrinkles on his face.
Jimmy gave a quick nod. "It's Jimmy, Mr. Wood," he said, trying not to sound mean. Grian was the only one who called Jimmy, Timmy. Martyn Wood was just a neighbor, not a friend.
The old man seemed to shrug it off, carefully getting off his old and squeaky rocking chair. "Fine weather isn't it?" he asked and Jimmy nodded, it was after all, not a cloud in the sky. "Where are you headed to youngin'?"
Jimmy didn't want to be conversing with this wrinkly man any longer then he had too. "Grian's, I'm in rush actually, he wants me over for dinner," he told him. "I should be going, in fact."
Martyn only smiled. "I'll walk you to his house, I haven't seen him and Scar in a few days, only imagine what they've been getting up to," he said with a wink. Jimmy had to stifle a face of disgust.
There were things that you just didn't want to imagine, especially when an old man, triple his age points it out.
The young blonde man shook his head. "I'm okay, really, I'm running late and I don't want to disturb your own dinner plans Mr. Wood," he told him with a slight fake smile.
The only man huffed. "Nonsense! I may be old but not senile, I'll be fine walking down the street, and besides, it's good for my old bones!" he said with a grin. Jimmy internally sighed, he couldn't take a hint. "Besides call me Martyn, I'm not your teacher."
Jimmy slowly nodded before continuing walking at a slower paste so that the old man could keep up. Martyn chatted about his week, complaining, how Ren, a man Jimmy personally had only met one time, bailed on their weekly lunch.
It honestly amazed Jimmy that even though he didn't particularly like the old man, the way he told stories kept him intrigued. In fact, the only story Martyn got out by the time they got to Grian's home was the story about him and Ren. Count on Martyn Wood to never miss a detail.
Grian must of peeked outside of the window because as soon as they stepped on the path to his porch, he came out with a big smile. "Timmy!" he cheered. They hadn't seen each other all week, Jimmy being to exhausted after work to even think about going out or have anyone over, even his own brother. "And Martyn! What a lovely surprise!"
The short man waved them to follow him inside the house. "Oh I mustn't stay, Tim says you guys are having dinner," Martyn reasoned. "I only wanted to walk him here."
Grian shook his head, keeping his smile. "Nonsense, there's enough pasta to go around, come on in!" he told the old man with a friendly smile. Jimmy had to hold back a groan, he didn't mind the old man but he didn't particularly want to have dinner with him.
Martyn smiled and licked his lips. "What are we having then!?" he exclaimed.
Jimmy blocked out the chatter as he followed behind Martyn, shutting the door as he was the last one through. He smiled as Grian's and Scar's cats ran about. Pearl and Jellie were chasing Maui who zoomed up the stairs. He giggled lightly. Jimmy was a sucker for cats, if it wasn't obvious.
There was a small animal shelter in the town, when the time was right, Jimmy even played with the idea of getting another cat. Norman was a spoiled king though, Jimmy was afraid he wouldn't adjust well.
After he finished cooing over the cats, he slowly crept to the kitchen where Scar and Martyn were already sat excitedly at the table.
Scar waved at him as he entered. "Jimmy! Nice to see you," he greeted with a smile. "You know we don't bite, you should come round' more often!"
Scar was Grian's boyfriend. In fact, Jimmy figured they'd be engaged by the end of the year. The man was tall with brown hair and his face was covered in scars, Jimmy didn't know why or how, it never came up in conversation. The man often used a cane depending on the day.
Scar was kind to Jimmy, he had never been remotely unwelcoming, in fact when Jimmy was struggling to get set up in his home and Grian wasn't available, Scar offered and they had bonded over their love of cats and clumsiness.
However, Scar would avoid any talk about his backstory. All he told Jimmy was that he's lived here his whole life. When Jimmy had asked how him and Grian met, Scar told a different and confusing story then Grian. In fact they both had switched details, it was strange.
Grian handed Jimmy two plates. "Here, pass these two the freeloaders," he said with a chuckle. Jimmy nodded, placing the two plates in front of the men.
Martyn licked his lips once more. "Thou shall feed his neighbor! Especially if they're old," he exclaimed.
Grian chuckled as he passed Jimmy his plate and sat beside Scar with his own plate. "I'm not sure that's how it exactly goes Martyn," he informed him.
The old man only shrugged, stuffing a forkful of pasta in his mouth. "Clothe enuf," he muffed out making Scar laugh while Jimmy had to hold out on a disgusted face. At the ripe age of sixty something, Jimmy would think he'd have more manners.
Perhaps he'd like Martyn if he wasn't so, strange. Everyone was in the town of Canary. Even his own brother. Jimmy was weird but not as weird as the residents from here. They all knew Jimmy, even though he didn't know anyone, it was weird.
Grian had never kept anything from Jimmy but after moving here, the blonde could tell he wasn't always telling the truth. Whether that be how he met Scar or one of his old friends.
They chatted through dinner, Jimmy was mostly silent, annoyingly intrigued as Martyn delved into one of his many stories. This one was about how he had been bothering a man named Scott at his flower shop when Scott had just turned from watering the flowers to watering Martyn in anger.
Jimmy had no idea who Scott was but he applauded him for messing with Martyn back, from the stories he heard, he could be quite relentless with pranks. Perhaps it was all in good fun but Jimmy simply didn't know any of them enough to make a final thought on it.
Grian looked to Jimmy as the old man finished his story. "So Tim, you have any vacation weeks off work coming up?" he asked, a suspicious grin creeping on his face.
Jimmy sipped at his water and then shook his head as he swallowed. "I never booked any weeks off, figured I needed the hours and the money, soon I have to renovate that old house and it's going to cost an arm and a leg," he explained.
That was only half true. Jimmy definitely had enough saved to comfortably renovate it without putting in more hours, he just didn't want to be off work. Jimmy's work kept him busy, and he needed that, it's what kept the thinking away.
Grian sighed and shook his head. "I've told you a thousand times, some of my friends have already offered to help, for free as well!"
Jimmy frowned. "Listen Grian, I cant take handouts from your friends, they're all old and deserve their peace, no offence Martyn," he said taking a quick glance at the old man who huffed at being called old. "Also I only know a few of your friends, they're practically strangers."
Grian and Scar shared a knowing glance with each other, a smile creeping on their face making Jimmy raise his eyebrow. They were all strange, the blonde just accepted it at this point.
The blondes brother did one of his classic smirks. "It's good I've called you off work all week then, huh? We're having dinner on Monday, you can meet them then!" he told him cheerfully.
Jimmy grew a look of horror. "You called my boss? You can't do that!" he choked out, horrified.
Grian shrugged. "He actually reached out Tim, he told me that he's concerned you haven't had a week of vacation since December when you moved, and you hadn't booked any weeks off since," he explained.
Jimmy furrowed his eyebrows. His boss was definitely one of the most understanding and empathetic ones you could have but he didn't expect him to reach out to Jimmy's brother with concern.
The shorter continued. "I told him that next week would be great, he's a very kind man, actually," he explained.
Martyn looked amused. "I wish I had a boss like that!" he exclaimed.
Scar raised and eyebrow and looked at the older with confusion. "You did though, Ren let you get off with having basically the whole summer off, in fact you didn't work a day in the summer of 82' if I remembered correctly," he explained.
Jimmy immediately turned to his brother's boyfriend in confusion. What in the Watchers did he mean the summer of 82'? Scar wasn't even born yet! He was only a year older then Grian at 24.
Martyn and Grian looked at him with a face of 'you messed up'. Scar immediately halfheartedly laughed, looking at Jimmy, clearly nervous. "By if I remember correctly I mean Ren told me that story," he corrected.
Jimmy slowly nodded. Something about the way Martyn and Grian looked on edge about his statement made the hair on his arms slowly rise. There was something odd going on in this town, it was like a poison that had spread. Jimmy's own kin had fallen ill with it as well, he was just as weird as cranky Martyn.
They soon started to chat about something else, clearly it was a conversation to cover up the previous one, it was obvious.
As they finished up the pasta Jimmy helped Grian with rinsing the plates. "You shouldn't have told my boss I'd take next week off," Jimmy murmured, keeping his voice low as to not disrupt Martyn and Scar's own conversation.
Grian nodded with a slight frown. "I know Timmy but you work almost every day, this is the second time I've seen you this month and it's June 21st," he explained.
Jimmy couldn't help but frown too. "I know Grian, I apologize, I know I've been working to much, I'll change that, I miss my brother," Jimmy confessed.
Grian smiled and turned off the water. "I miss you too, Timmy," he murmured and embraced Jimmy in a brotherly hug. Jimmy saw Scar scoot out of his chair and join the hug, with that, Martyn did too.
Jimmy looked around as he was being squished. "Why are we hugging!?" Scar exclaimed, excited.
The tall blonde was slowly losing his oxygen, being hugged tightly. "Let go please," he coughed out. They all laughed as they let go and as Jimmy let out a sigh of relief.
Martyn chuckled. "Death by hug, now that's a good one!" he cheered. Jimmy rolled his eyes, that was in fact, not a good one. Grian put a hand to Jimmy's shoulder, a warm and assuring smile on his face.
Perhaps one week from work would be alright. There was one thing Jimmy wanted to get to the bottom of: the Town of Canary and it's strange people. He sure had his work cut out for him.
1982 - June 21st
Tango the Workaholic
The man with blonde hair woke up in a haze as loud knocking was at the door.
Loud snores filled the well decorated living room, a blonde was laid on the couch, perhaps sprawled was a better word. One leg was hanging off, his toes just barely touching the ground while the other leg was lifted against the backside of the couch. One arm was above the man's head while the other also hung lazily off the couch.
Tango hadn't been sleeping well, and although his back would curse him later, this was the best sleep he had gotten in ages. He had fell asleep watching a baseball game last night after getting home from work way later then expected. His shift had ended at 2:00, he stayed until 8:00.
Suddenly a loud banging at the door broke the serene sound of the mans snores and the quiet murmur of the tv. Tango lifted his head in haze, looking around.
There was another set of loud knocks at the door. "Top it's me Skizz, I know you're in there!" a man exclaimed. Tango sat up and turned off the tv, he quickly ran to dump the half-empty beer can from last night. "Just a minute!" he called as he poured the now warm and flat alcohol down the drain.
As he sped walked into the living room he realized his discarded shirt from last night was still on the floor. Tango snatched it up, very glad he didn't end up answering the door shirtless, it had happened before, and it turned out to be his boss, and friend, Mumbo. That was an awkward interaction.
Tango quickly rushed to the door, careful not to seem out of breath. He unlocked it and was greeted by a tall man with brown hair who had a big smile that could light up the room. "Top!" he cheered.
Smiling, Tango invited his friend in with a quick gesture of his hand. "How are you Skizz?" he asked as the man walked in.
Skizz turned to him, still smiling. Though, it wasn't often you would see Skizz without a bright smile anyways. "Just lovely! My shift at the bakery was so easy this morning, a 5:30 to 11:30, just baked the whole time!" he explained cheerfully.
Tango raised an eyebrow. "It's not 11:30," he said with confusion.
The tall man started to giggle. "You're correct Top! It's 12:30!"
Tango nodded for second, not fazed until he jumped out of his skin in fear. "I'm late for work!" he yelled in worry.
Skizz nodded. "By six hours," he said with an amused smile.
The young blonde craned his neck to look directly at Skizz with an unamused look. Skizz put up his hands in defense, still not dropping the smile.
Tango sighed before rushing to the phone on the small table beside the couch. He typed in the number for his work and it only rang once before somebody answered.
It was a mans voice that answered, his voice almost as recognizable as his moustache. "Hello! This is Mumbo speaking at-," he was cut off.
Tango started speaking. "Oh my goodness Mumbo I'm so, so, sorry, I didn't mean to over sleep...by six hours! I'll be there as soon as I can I'm so sorry," Tango apologized.
Mumbo let out a chuckle. "It's quite alright, you can have the day off, we're full here!" he explained. "However you can still drop by, I'd like to talk to you, in person please," he told Tango, becoming a bit more serious which concerned the blonde. One thing about Mumbo, he wasn't often serious, that meant something clouding his thoughts.
Tango frowned, nodding, before he realized Mumbo couldn't see him. "Alright! I'll be over in a bit," he promised. "Goodbye Mumbo," he muttered.
Mumbo let out a cheerful farewell before Tango hung up and looked down towards the floor. Skizz sat beside him, putting a arm around his shoulders. "Don't worry Tango, Impulse said it was an easy day anyway, I wouldn't stress!" he assured.
The blonde slowly nodded. Impulse and Skizz lived together, it saved on cost and they said it was like having a sleepover with your best friend every night. Tango too, had lived with his best friend at one point and he could confirm, both those points made lots of sense.
Skizz slightly shook him. "I could hear Mumbo, you gotta still go in for a little meeting? I'll come with you! I made some donuts this morning but then realized it wasn't donut day! So I have two boxes in my car, I can pass them out to the great redstoners," he explained with a smile.
Tango looked at him. "How do you just accidentally make donuts?" he asked and the man shrugged before jumping up onto his feet.
The taller stretched before putting on a grin. "Go get ready, you look like a mess, and you have redstone dust in your hair," he laughed. Tango went a light pink colour and nodded, heading up stairs and leaving Skizz to watch tv.
Tango got ready, doing his best to wash all the red dust out of his hair but honestly, it was always stuck in there. Years of long redstone work and he may as well be half human and the other half be redstone.
The blonde man put on his casual wear which consisted of a red sweater with white stripes on the sleeves, a black, sleeveless jacket, red pants, and work boots. He wore red glasses over his abnormal red eyes.
After drying his hair, he walked back downstairs where Skizz was making himself at home and watching the pilot episode of Magnum P.I., it was a drama that had premiered just two years ago, in 1980.
Skizz nodded as he stood up, turned off the tv, and looked at Tango. "Classical, it's almost like you wore that last Saturday," he said with a lighthearted laugh. Tango rolled his eyes, not even bothering to comment on how he wore a suit-like, sleeveless shirt almost everyday.
They headed out the door, Tango not bothering to take his keys, nor lock the door. There hadn't been a known break in crime, in Canary, since 1978, and that person had been jailed immediately. Besides, his neighbors were almost all of his friends, if they saw someone go in his home, they'd protect it.
They hopped in Skizz's car, it was a blue 81' Ford Sierra, it was quite new and definitely one of the mans most prized possessions.
Tango glanced at the two donut boxes at the back, they were blue with a big gold coloured 'S' on it. Skizz laughed. "Have one," he said.
Skizz didn't have to tell Tango twice, he reached back in the car, opened the back and licked his lips as he picked up a glazed donut, shut the box and sat back in the seat. Seatbelts were installed in the car but no one wore them.
As Tango ate the donut he was in the clouds. "Skizz," he started, mouth still full. "I don't know how you do it, but these donuts taste even better then last time!"
Skizz laughed. He was an excellent baker, so much so he had his own bakery shop. The man was dedicated, waking up early everyday besides Sunday, his day off, and made everything from scratch. All their friends loved the bakery, the whole of Canary did.
If somebody need a desert themed catering order or even just something as simple as a birthday cake, they'd call Skizz. He and Gemini Tay were the best bakers out there and together, they could make any desert with ease.
It wasn't long before they got to Tango's work, the town was small and it was just in the outskirts of Canary. Tango hopped out of the car, Skizz following along with the two donut boxes.
As they approached the building someone walked out, it was none other then Impulse. He wasn't as short as Tango but definitely wasn't as tall as Skizz, he had brown hair and brown eyes. Impulse was much like Skizz in the sense that they always smiled and you couldn't help but feel happy around them.
Impulse waved at Tango. "Decided to show up for work finally, huh?" he joked as he held the door open for them. When he saw Tango's frown he immediately put an assuring hand to his shoulder saying; "I'm only kidding Tang, you deserve it!"
Impulse was good like that, he never took jokes far and showed everyone with a sense of compassion. He never took sides and acted like a mediator if their friends ever got into an argument. He was truly a token of a friend and Tango was glad to consider him as one of his best friends.
When they got through the door, Tango was greeted by a shorter man who had fluffy blonde hair and capturing yet kind blue eyes. He ran up and hugged Tango. "Hi Tango!" he said brightly.
Tango smiled. "Hey Zed! Good to see you," he greeted warmly.
Zed was Tango's best friend, they lived together for a few years after Tango ran away from home and Zed was looking for a roommate, after he was able to get back onto his feet, he bought his own house but tried to visit Zed every chance he could.
The hyper blonde turned to Skizz handing a donut to Impulse who accepted it graciously. "You brought donuts for us?" he asked, Tango could practically see the hunger in his eyes. Skizz nodded, smiling, before handing Zed the box making his face light up with happiness.
In the corner of Tango's eye he saw the flash of a red eye, the only person who had a red eye, besides Tango, was Etho. He turned smiling as the man approached, his usual get up covered in red dust. "Someone said donuts?" he asked, clearly smiling under his mask.
Skizz turned too, nodding. "Here! Pick what you'd like," he told him warmly, passing the tall man the other box. Etho thanked him, redstone work wasn't an easy feat and a quick donut break would light up the mood.
Skizz turned back to Tango with a smile. "Shall we take a visit to our old friend Mumbo Jumbo?" Skizz asked and Tango nodded, with a small frown.
Mumbo was more then a fair boss, Tango knew he shouldn't be worried but he was. He had never been late before, never called off a shift, and never even dared to just not show up. What would Mumbo say about him sleeping in? Would he be written up?
Etho could see Tango's concern. "You got nothing to worry about, in fact I wish I was in your shoes!" Etho said with a laugh, Tango raised an eyebrow but before he could ask about what the white haired man meant, Skizz pushed him towards Mumbo's office.
The lanky man usually spent his time working with the others but he had to still upkeep office duties much to Mumbo's displeasure, Impulse would often offer to help. Mumbo was young, only twenty one, but he was one of the most impressive and influential redstoners Tango knew, he deserved his higher up job even if he was young.
As Tango approached the door to his bosses office, he lifted a shaky hand and knocked, getting a quick and murmured 'come in'. Skizz gave him a good luck nod and turned to go back to the others.
Tango opened the door and walked in the door where Mumbo was sitting down, clearly writing something down on paper. "Tango!" he greeted warmly, standing up to shake his hand before gesturing the blonde to sit.
Mumbo scribbled another word onto the paper before throwing it into the growing pile beside him. He looked to Tango and smiled. "How are you? Feeling good after your sleep-in I hope?" he asked, there was no anger, just genuine wonder.
Tango shrank down in his seat a bit. "Not that well I spent my night on my couch, I crashed after watching the beginning of the hockey game," he answered honestly. "The couch did something to my back I think."
The lanky man slightly frowned. "I'm sorry to hear that Tango, I hope better sleep comes tonight," he said with genuine concern. "We have matters to discuss though," he said, still frowning making worry grip at Tango's stomach. If Mumbo didn't get to the point soon, the glazed donut wouldn't look to great coming back up.
Tango stayed silent as Mumbo begun. "I've been looking over everyone's days off and leaves and noticed you haven't had any!" he told the blonde, admiration yet a tad of concern could be seen in his dark brown eyes. "You also haven't put in any vacation weeks, why?" he asked.
The blonde shrugged. "I don't need any days off, my weekends are enough," he told Mumbo honestly.
Mumbo nodded. "I get it Tango, I do. But everyone needs a break, especially you. You show up earlier and go home later then anyone, you're straining yourself to much," he informed Tango.
Tango shook his head. "I'm fine, really! I am!" he exclaimed.
The younger only frowned. "I hear you complaining to Zed that your back is in rough shape, you're only twenty-five, that shouldn't be Mr Tek. In fact you just told me about it now! As your boss and your friend, I'm giving you the week off, two perhaps, it's all paid of course!" Mumbo explained.
Tango shook his head and stood up to disagree. "No Mumbo! We have so many projects I need to finish-," Tango was cut off.
Mumbo stood up too, towering over Tango by a lot. "I'm not asking you Tango, I'm simply informing you," he told him in the most stern voice that Tango had ever heard Mumbo speak.
Seeing the taken aback look as Tango sat back Mumbo halfheartedly smiled and assured him; "trust me Tango, you need it. I'm telling you as your friend as well as your boss."
Realizing that Mumbo simply wouldn't let him protest, Tango slowly nodded. "Alright, Mumbo," he murmured.
Mumbo got up from his chair and led him to his door. "Don't take it personally, you're great at your job, in fact that's an understatement! I'm glad I get to work alongside you, whether you know it or not but we've all learned from you," he assured making Tango give him a slight smile.
They walked back to the entrance where Skizz was throwing donut holes at Zed, trying to get them in the latters mouth. Was it working? Not well, there were at least three on the ground.
Skizz turned to Tango. "There you are! Heard you got canned for the week for overworking yourself!" he laughed.
Impulse gave him a light punch to the arm. "He wasn't canned Skizz, he was given the week off," he corrected. Skizz only shrugged, putting his hands up in defeat, not wanting to mess with Impulse.
Tango felt something brush up against him and he looked to see Zed with a smile. "I only work Tuesday and Thursday next week, call me if you want to hangout," he told him. "And especially call me if you just need somebody to talk and listen to you."
The blonde smiled, eagerly nodding. Tango wasn't excited for his week off, but he was excited to hangout with his best friend for almost the whole week! Zed truly cared for him, he was Tango's first friend, he had never made one back in his old town which only consisted of his own family and extended family.
Zed passed Tango a sprinkle donut to which the latter graciously accepted. Perhaps donuts for breakfast wasn't the best thing, but it sure was delicious. They all chatted for a while, it was their lunch break currently.
When the clock hit one, begrudgingly, they started to head back to work. Zed and Etho said their farewell, walking to the back where they'd head to their own projects. Impulse stayed by Mumbo. "Need help with paperwork? My projects done," he offered.
Mumbo nodded. "Yes please! Now," he turned to Tango. "I better not see you at work until next, next Monday!" he told the blonde who slowly nodded.
Impulse gave Skizz and Tango a quick hug before heading to Mumbo's office with the lanky man beside him.
Tango turned to Skizz who threw away the two empty donut boxes. They all had way to many. "Want to go to town square?" Skizz asked.
The blonde thought for a minute, he wanted to go home and ponder but he knew spending time with one of his best friends would be much more better. "Yeah sure!" he said, nodding. Maybe the next week wouldn't be all bad.
