The Butchery

Summary:

After a traumatic relationship and the even more traumatic breakup with your partner, you decided that the only thing that could ease your pain was to leave everything behind. Chapter 1: A Long Day

Chapter Text

After a traumatic relationship and the even more traumatic breakup with your partner, you decided that the only thing that could ease your pain was to leave everything behind. You packed up your car with your belongings and took off. You didn't have any specific destination in mind, and you didn’t even know where you were going. Your only sense of direction was the map on your phone, which was almost out of battery.

Now that you’re thinking about it, this was probably a bad idea.

-----

After a while of driving, taking in the scenery and zoning out multiple times, you snap back to reality and look around. What time was it? And where were you? Its dark out, and you’re surrounded by trees. You try checking your phone but the batteries dead. Why does the battery go down when you’re not using it?! You really need to learn how to preserve your battery, especially when you’re in the middle of who knows where. This was definitely a bad idea, you mused. But there’s no turning back now.

You were still driving, trying not to drive into the trees that were basically overflowing on the path, and came across a Dead End sign… Great, was this a sign to just turn back? You hope not. Looking around, you saw a small path on the right, should you take the path? You weren’t exactly sure, you were weighing the options and debating what to do.

You've been stuck at this dead end for a few seconds, and you just want to get out of this place. You can't help but think that maybe, just maybe, this small path could lead you somewhere else that isnt as creepy as this place. You drive down the path, trying to convince yourself that it's the right choice.

Looking around and observing your surroundings, all you saw where trees that were really old or practically dead. You could probably turn back or drive to a friend’s house, going home isn’t really something you want to do right now. You continued driving a bit more, a weird lump on the ground coming into view. You brushed it off, but when you kept driving you could almost barely make it out, you were seeing an animal, a… pig? Could you even call it that? It had these human-y, bony limbs. It was eating the grass below it, its limbs surprisingly being able to support its massive size. Were you hallucinating? When did you last sleep?

Before you could try to honk your horn at it to try and scare it away, you hear a tap at your window and the next thing you know is a man swings his axe at your window, breaking it, then you feel a swift pain on your forehead before you get knocked out.

-----

Slowly, you wake up, you feel sore and tired. You were slumped over a chair uncomfortably. You try to force open your eyes, blinking away the sleep. You look at the two men in front of you, and on the floor is the same thing you saw, and once you get a closer look at it, it’s even more horrifying. You can hear them talking, though you can barely make it out with the ringing in your ears.

“Why is meat so tough? What did you feed it!” The first man’s voice comes through, sounding taut.

“Those hitchhikers last week.” Another voice comes through, it sounds rough and serious.

You manage to pry your eyes fully open and take a look around. It was dark and musty, various crates and small iceboxes fill the room, and the smell of rotten meat and blood lingers in the air. You try and examine the people in front of you, the man on the left has black hair that parts in the middle, he’s wearing a long sleeved red flannel shirt, and the flannel’s top button is undone at the very top. He also wears a pair of black suspenders that are attached to the blue jeans that he wears, he also wears a pair of dirty boots.

While the man on the right has short dark brown hair that sweeps to the right, and it slightly covers the upper right side of his face, he’s wearing a short sleeved black and red button up flannel and wears boot cut blue jeans with black boots.

You stared at them dumbfounded, was this a dream? The throbbing pain in your head told you otherwise, you stared at them for a few seconds before the man on the left caught you staring at them, smiling at you before speaking up.

“Well looky here, finally awake! I was beginning to think you were dead!” He said, sounding cheery and whimsical, he stood up from his kneeling position, stared at the ground and cleared his throat before looking back up at you, giving you a sly smile. “Welcome to Cottonwood farm!” He said proudly, enthusiastically raising his arms in the air, “I’m Jackson-“

“What’s up with this one’s face?” The other man interrupted him, was this the guy that hit you on the head? You’re pretty sure it is. You feel offended, though you don’t want to say anything, especially knowing this is the man that kidnapped you.

“William! What did I say about showing some respect when we have guests!” Jackson scolded, throwing the cleaver in his hand, it flew past you and penetrated the wooden floor with a satisfying thud.

You are officially freaking out, what the fuck? What was that pig thing? Who were they and what did they want from you? You were so stuck up in your thoughts you almost didn’t notice William walk up to Jackson, side-eyeing you in the process, and speak up.

“You’re actin’ like a damn fool, Jackson.” He spoke, low and stern.

Jackson stared at him for a few seconds before deeply sighing and staring at the floor. William turned away and walked back to the crate near the pig, giving you a slight glance as he did so. You were so confused, you felt like crying- No! You gotta stay strong, you gotta make it out alive! You can't just start crying, but you just might, considering all the horrible things that happened today.

“We brought you here tonight for a special reason.” He started, slowly looking upwards. “The Lord wants us to show everyone our gift…” His gaze shifts on you, and when he looks you up and down his eyes lock onto yours, his expression serious. You look away, trying to avoid eye contact and instead glare at William, who was holding a green organ which was awfully similar to a heart. “..and we cannot disappoint the Lord.” Jackson stated while turning his head, shifting his focus to the other man and the animal, whilst William was installing the weird heart inside the pig. There was a brief moment of silence before William spoke.

“This little piggie was very naughty, gettin’ loose ‘n scaring you out on the road.” He stated, standing up from his position next to the pig. “But don’t worry, he’s getting a brand new home.” He smirked, looking at the pig who was twitching and scrambling to get- what? The pig was moving? You stare down at the pig who was starting to get up from the floor, the lights above it starting to flicker. Once it’s stood up, it almost immediately crawls up to and sniffs your hand. You flinch and try to straighten yourself, shuffling away from the pig, you hear one of the brothers’ snicker at that. Unfortunately, the pig just moves even closer, continuing to sniff at your hand.

Once the pig is done smelling your hand, it rushes out the door. You look at William and his smirk is replaced by a frown, and you swear you heard him groan in disappointment when the animal left. Your eyes dart to Jackson who’s just staring at the door. You want to say something but before you could, you were immediately cut off by William.

“Well, I’ve got a pig to catch.” He says, monotone as ever. He walks out of the room without a second glance, and you hear Jackson chuckle before following suit, picking up his cleaver he threw earlier in the process. He takes a few more steps before turning around and raising his weapon at you, his face stern.

Okay, this can’t be real, you muse. Jackson’s still standing there so you slowly nod, and with that he gives you a another glare before shutting the door behind him, a few seconds later you hear the door click and you have a feeling your trapped here for who knows how long.

Now you just need to find a way out of here.

Today’s gonna be a long day.
