It was late at night when Angel heard pounding at his door, well, the morning technically, it being 1 am. Now, this wasn’t unusual - typically Charlie would be incessantly banging at it when Angel would be trying to sleep in on one of his few, but still very real, days off, spouting about how he needed some ‘fresh air’ and ‘to come eat something’, typical princess nonsense - but that was during the morning, and the chipper girl always made sure she was in bed by 10 pm sharp, Vaggie in tow, so he crossed those two off his list as he groaned, swinging his legs over the bed, pulling on some thigh high socks (he wouldn’t be caught dead barefoot) and making his way over to the door. He glanced down at his appearance, loose shirt hanging off his frame, barely covering his boxers. His makeup was smeared and he sighed, begrudgingly deciding that he’d open the door despite the current messy look he was adorning. Although he was a perfectionist for these things through and through, it was late, sue him; he can look a little less than perfect for once.
Opening the door slightly and peering out of the gap, he was fully expecting Alastor there, deciding Angel would be his next victim - or maybe even meal - what he was not anticipating however, was Husk, hair messy, tail between his legs, and ears lowered. Angel scoffed in surprise, swinging open the door and leaning against its frame, posing hand on hip. “Heya, pretty kitty. You come over for a late night fuck-sesh or somethin?”
Angel giggled softly, tilting his head a little as he looked down at the man before him. Although he’d come a long way with his incessant flirtation, and didn’t lay it on as thick as he used to, the occasional comment towards the kitty was okay, and had even made him chuckle a few times, As he stood there though without any response from the other, he started to doubt himself, quickly backtracking. “I was joking, god, tough crowd…” He tried a smile, but the silence from the other was suffocating, and eventually he huffed, starting to crumble under the pressure. “You gonna tell me what you’re doing here or-“
There was a sharp intake of breath from the other, his head lowered, gaze trained on the floor. The breathing was shaky, and Angel recognised it immediately as the sound of someone trying to keep themselves together. Angel immediately lowered himself to Husks level, crouching and speaking softly. “Hey. What’s going on? You okay?”
Husk let out a heavy exhale, his shoulders now beginning to shake. Angel acted fast, standing up and offering out his hand. “Okay, you don’t have to tell me, just come inside, okay?”
Husk nodded, staying quiet as he carefully took Angels hand, letting him lead him inside, flinching a little at the door slamming shut behind them. Angel winced, awkwardly mumbling an “Oops, sorry-“, as he took him further inside, leading him to the bed, patting the spot next to himself. “You wanna come sit here with me?”
Husk just pulled himself up and sat down, crossing his legs and fidgeting with his fingers, clearly avoiding looking in Angels direction, having not glanced up the entire time. His shoulders were stiff, wings rigid, leg bouncing up and down despite the fact they were crossed. The two stayed quiet for a time, Angel periodically opening up his mouth in an effort to start spouting anything and everything that came into his mind like he usually did to fill awkward silence, but he’d always shut it, cussing himself under his breath at not knowing the correct thing to say, or not having anything worthy to say at all, really. What he settled on was reaching over and cupping Husks hand in two of his own, one of his thumbs rubbing the back of his palm. That’s when the smaller man finally looked up at him, eyes glassy, teeth busying themselves with chewing at his lip, and Angel snapped.
“Oh no no no- Hey, what’s up?* His lower hands remained clasped around Husks own, his upper ones cupping his face, thumb gently rubbing his cheek. “Please don’t cry kitty, it’s okay…”
The tears started to spill over and Husk lunged forward, burying his face against Angels chest and letting out thick, heavy sobs, almost as if all of the air had been trapped inside of his lungs and was finally escaping, the soft, warm body of Angel coaxing it out of him. The taller man gasped, not expecting to be pounced on tonight (at least not in this way), but quickly wrapped his arms around the other, quietly shushing him and rubbing his back, pulling him close. “There there kitty, its alright, mommy’s got you…”
Husk continued to sob, hands moving off of Angel and starting to grab at his hair, grasping it in fistfuls and gripping hard, curling in on himself, head still pressed firmly against Angel to muffle the sounds coming from deep inside his soul. Angel hummed quietly, a low, sympathetic sound, slowly moving to wrap his hands around Husks, carefully working to untangle them from his hair. “Cling to me instead baby, don’t hurt yourself please…”
Husk sniffed, propping himself up on his knees to hide his face in the crook of Angels neck, breathing thick against it, allowing Angel to take his hands in his and wrap them around Angels waist instead. “You can hold onto me honey, it’s okay.”
Husk sobbed quietly, moving his arms up to hug Angel around the shoulders, holding him tight, pressing his nose into the nape of his neck. “I’m sorry…” He mumbled weakly, shoulders shaking.
Angel tutted, gently rubbing his back. “Don’t worry about it, darlin. You’ve never gotta be sorry with me.” He whispered, lower hands grabbing Husk by the back of the thighs, lifting him up and sitting him on his lap, moving his legs so his thighs were straddling his hips. “Mommy’s got you. I’m not going anywhere, sweet boy.”
Husks shoulders began to shake less and less, eventually slumping against Angel, letting out quiet sobs and whines against his shoulder, keeping his face hidden. Angel leaned back against his mountain of pillows, keeping Husk pressed close, letting him lean against him, his hands rubbing slow, soothing circles against his back. Husks breathing started to slow and Angel smiled, fingers carding gently through the kitty’s hair. “There we go, that’s my good, sweet boy. Mommy’s so proud of you.”
Husk finally pulled away enough to look up at him, sniffling. “Really?”
Angel nodded, cupping his face in his hands, gently cooing. “Of course, baby. So so proud. Thank you for coming to me for help.”
Husk just nodded, pressing his cheek against Angels collar bone, his ears tickling the underneath of the spiders chin. Angel leaned down, pressing multiple kisses in quick succession to the top of Husks head, making him giggle, a sound so sweet and relieving after hearing such a world of hurt coming from the beautiful boy on top of him, so much that Angel quickly lifted up Husks head, littering his face with them, his lipstick rubbing off on his previously white fur. Husk whined, but smiled all the less, moving back down to nuzzle his face against Angels chest.
“Thank you…” he murmured eventually, nose pressing further against Angels fur, shifting himself further up his body, deeply inhaling at the base of his neck, and giggling softly. “God, you smell so good.”
Angel giggled, pulling Husk closer, gently playing with his hair. “I know.”
Husk was quiet for a moment, shame running through him as he felt the need to explain himself for his outburst. “I-“
”shhh.” Came Angels voice, smooth and soft and sweet as honey, gently prompting the other man to stop speaking. It was a needed interruption - Angel knew what that kind shame felt like, and he was determined to make it all better. He messed with Husks hair, giggling to himself as it stuck up messily, him shaping it into silly styles. “Baby, listen to me. You agree that mommy knows best, yes?”
Husk nodded hesitantly, peering up at him, making Angel smile. “Then trust mommy when he says it’s okay. You clearly needed to let all of that out, and I helped you through it. It’s okay to break down around me, I’m always going to be here to help you pick up the pieces.” Angel pressed a gentle kiss to one of Husks ears, smiling as it flicked in response. “Mommy’s here for you baby, and that’s that.”
He sat up a little, lifting up Husks head and guiding his body upwards, resting his hands around the back of his neck. “I never want my sweet, gorgeous boy to go anything alone.” He sighed softly, a hand gently rubbing at Husks cheek. “My pretty kitty… I love you so much. You never have to explain yourself to mommy, okay? I’m here and that’s that, even if you get sick of me.” He giggled, squishing his cheek. “I’m always here to give you lots of kisses and love.”
Husks face flushed and he groaned softly, looking away. “Okay okay, I get it…” He huffed out, despite his smile.
Angel just chuckled, pulling him closer and wrapping his legs around his kitty’s waist. “Good boy. Where’s my ‘I love you too mommy, thanks for being the best?”
Husk grumbled, hiding his face against Angels shoulder, muttering. “Love you so much…”
Angel hummed, smirking. “Ah-ah, good, polite boys use the honorific too.”
Husk sat up, cheeks rosy as he repeated himself, properly this time. “I love you too, mommy.” He pressed a kiss to Angels cheek, the heat from his face noticeable as he did so. “Pleased?”
The spider chuckled, pulling him close again and ruffling his hair. “Very pleased, sweet boy.”
