Work Text:
It was an evening, a normal evening.
Until they received a report of abnormal changes around the complex of where illegal guilds gather. They decided to investigate the report if it were true, since it would've been dangerous and risky in the future.
When the Team 1 split up, Jung Soo and Soo Hyuk came in partners to the basement.
Jung Soo suddenly halted in his steps, his eyes shook as his hand stayed on the doorknob.
The former support member of Team 1, that had been registered as deceased or missing for 5 years. Locked in a cell inside the basement of an illegal guild's complex.
His arms and legs was chained, and his body was red and covered in dried blood. Jung Soo could clearly see how disheveled and pale the young man was despite the fact that it was dark.
Kim Rok Soo was finally found, bloodied up, and visibly tortured.
Soo Hyuk came rushing in when he saw the sight as well, his face was distorted but showed all sorts of emotions.
They both hastily removed the chains that dug into Rok Soo's skin, leaving them with the sight of a bleeding and bruised body.
Desperately checked for his breathing, although his pulse was weak, it meant he was still alive, his heart was still beating. But just barely alive.
Grabbing a dark coat that Soohyuk brought in, they covered Rok Soo who was freezing from the cold wind.
-
Rok Soo's eyes fluttered open, eyes seemingly clouding over and it looked unrecognizable. His right eye was silver, while his left stayed the same shade.
"W,-"
Rok Soo tried to speak but his throat was aching and hoarse.
He fell down and collapsed in Jung Soo's arms.
-
- Sooho, how long has it been since..
Sooho didn't know how long he'd been here nor how long they plan to make him stay here. But the chains had forbidden magic placed on them so he couldn't do anything about it.
People whose faces were unrecognizable and blurry constantly tortured him, he guessed it was some type of greed or their way of inflicting anger towards someone.
That someone however, can not be determined.
Rok Soo and Sooho started to forget, even with the help of Record. Sooho thinks it could've only have been god's intervention for that to happen.
(Rok Soo and Sooho's abilities will be connected together when they shared the body. Let's just say Sooho has his stoicness since he constantly steeled his heart in the past and it just affected him unconsciously despite having no reason to steel his emotions since his memories were erased/sealed.)
Rok Soo could take control of the body as well, but although he doesn't take control he can still hear, and see what Sooho is doing, vice versa.
When he was under hallucinogenics, he was able to regain consciousness but acted asleep, a skill he perfected for long.
He heard what seemed to be an explosion, people screaming, it sounded chaotic. Was there a fight?
The answer came when he heard the door of the room open, and felt two presences. The two seemed strong, stronger than anything he'd ever felt from the people he had encountered.
That was when Sooho tensed up, shoulders feeling heavy as he tried his best to act asleep despite his heart telling him something else.
He felt them trying to quickly remove the chains on his body. And what seemed to be cloth wrapped around him.
But he felt there was no reason to do so, he's become too numb to feel afterall.
His eyes felt heavy as he tried to open them, when he finally did, he saw the two presences.
Maybe it was because his heart felt something to them, but it made him feel at ease around these two people.
But they don't plan on giving into such feelings.
His throat ached, horribly, and he felt that it could have been one of the drugs the people gave him.
"W,-"
*Ugh!* A horrible headache staggered him, he lost all control of his body and could see his vision blurring and his head tip over. Before falling into a pair of large arms.
-
The emergency services were called, and the illegal guild members were arrested. Though the place would've been completely destroyed by Jung Soo if he was to stay behind with a vicious expression on his face.
Rok Soo's body was in horrible condition, when the doctors checked up on him, you could see how it affected them too.
Bruises and scars, whiplashes in other words, creeped up everywhere. Surrounding his already pale and scathed skin.
-
Rok Soo finally woke up.
His silver and reddish-brown eyes shone under the sun as he gazed at the landscape.
He couldn't move his arms or legs, but he could still move his head somewhat.
He didn't know why the people who entered the room looked so shocked to see him.
He also didn't know why the people who entered the room seemed close to him.
He just felt empty inside, except around the two people who rescued him, although he doesn't know the reason.
His eyes looked different, unlike the one 5 years ago. Different as in color, and also emotion.
His eyes visibly showed the emotion he was feeling inside, empty.
He didn't know how to express emotions.
The people of the company finally heard about the illegal activities, and especially the missing support member and brain of Team 1 was found, tortured exactly.
When they saw him like that, they didn't want to even imagine how much he had been suffering.
How long had he waited, for them to save him..?
'His throat... It's not in good condition.'
'It appears to have been from overuse, drugs, and other... omitted items.'
The doctor hesitantly said.
-
Labored and painful breaths could be heard, a strong and heavy scent of blood beckoned the other person in the room.
Rok Soo raised his head, slightly. As he was scared, in pain, and tired. He nearly gave in to the violence but hoped, hoped that his team, his hyungs would save him...
he nearly broke.
His eyes gazed over the unfamiliar black haired white eyed individual in front of him, his hoarse and aching throat trying to force out words.
"H, help... me"
He felt tears roll down his cheeks, he wanted this person who doesn't seem to have any ill intention unlike the others he met to save him.
His arms were tied with chains that were digging into his skin, he doesn't have any self-defense or offensive skill to break him out of it.
(Having him stay like that for ages wouldn't be good. Let's say they would change chains every once in a while and instead of his arms hanged to a wall, he'd be stuck imprisoned in a cell.)
It's been years since he saw anyone other than the people who came to torture him every once in a while, giving him food and healing him enough to keep him 'alive'.
He was tired.
He continued begging and letting the tears roll down, his mental state was already destroyed so he couldn't think of any other way.
The man stood there, Rok Soo couldn't see his face clearly due to his tears, but he felt the man touch his head, patting it before saying.
"I will, fall asleep. Kim Rok Soo."
Rok Soo's eyes fell droopy and he fell asleep under the comforting presence of the unknown man.
-
"I need to save Kim Rok Soo."
The God of Death sighed at the stubborn gaze of Jung Sooho, who treasured the human, Kim Rok Soo. He's lived two lifetimes for now and entered a worldline where Kim Rok Soo's fate was different and was destined to break apart his soul for the name of freedom.
'Are you sure about this? Once you enter the body of Kim Rok Soo, your memories will be shared with him, however it will eradicate your current memories.'
Sooho thought about this many times, he knew it could be risky since he will experience memory loss + there's a chance Rok Soo had already turned mentally unstable from the constant torture.
But he still did so, since Kim Rok Soo, and *their* story saved him in both his past lifetimes.
'Very well then, my child.'
He felt his body feel light, and his body disappearing. When he opened his eyes, he squinted his eyes at the terrible sight of the torture.
Unable to suppress his frown, he wanted to kill off everyone who made Rok Soo suffer like this, but he suppressed the urge.
Walking closer, taking steady steps to not frighten the 25-year-old Kim Rok Soo who was definitely traumatized in many ways.
-
(This part is one time a 'man' appeared out of no where, while the team were trying to attack that man who seemed extremely suspicious and had Ill intentions. That man rushed over to Rok Soo and touched him, giving back his memories as that was his intentions.
Rok Soo/Sooho would receive their memories through this. This can cause extreme emotional damage to them because their memories were flooding their minds, making them black out.
During that time, in their mindspace they were able to comfort each other and talk it out. Telling a few stories of which can calm their rapid beating hearts.
Sooho didn't say much and kept a few information a secret. As he saw how he made a deal to save Rok Soo, and he knew enough of Rok Soo to know that he would be extremely guilty.)
The moment that person touched him, something clicked.
That was when Sooho felt him falling down.
A moment.
Two moments.
Something clicked.
Memories...
It overflooded their minds and they couldn't help but let out all their memories and emotions from it.
A flood of emotions.
He felt as if he was floating on water.
They collapsed.
"Rok Soo!"
Everyone shouted desperately after seeing Rok Soo collapse on his knees after being touched by that man, rushing over as fast as they can.
Soo Hyuk took the charge and grabbed the man in a tight grip, giving him a menacing look as he asked.
"What did you do with him?"
The man however, didn't budge. Instead, he smiled in a wicked way.
"I gave your dear *Rok Soo* his memories."
That was when the usual calm and composed Team Leader Lee Soo Hyuk lost his composure.
-
The Jung Sooho who lived inside Rok Soo died, although it happened. Nobody had any idea why Rok Soo changed, and how his right eye which was deemed severely damaged suddenly recovered out of no where.
The God Of Death made a deal with them, allowing Sooho to have some time to talk.
(This will end up badly, but Sooho and the GoD are the only ones who knows that. Sooho would be unable to incarnate to that worldline any longer.)
Sooho appeared out of thin air, showing the same stoic composure he had when he inhabited Rok Soo's body.
They talked for some time, about all sorts of things they hadn't been able to talk about.
Sooho didn't allow anyone to come close to him or any physical contact throughout the conversation. Until he reached a hand out to Rok Soo.
He knew by then his time in this worldline was up, and he chose to do this one last time before going back to the world of Gods and having to work exhaustingly under the God of Death.
Once they touched, Rok Soo flinched. His hand where it touched Rok Soo's started to fade slowly.
Everyone excluding Sooho was shock.
Even when that happened, Sooho stepped closer to the frozen Rok Soo, placing a hand on Rok Soo's shoulder, he squeezed in the hug.
He felt his body feel light.
Sooho pulled away, a small smile making up to his face as he said one last thing to Rok Soo.
"Live, Rok Soo-yah."
And he was gone.
