Work Text:
"Boss, the information we've gathered has been delivered."
The right hand man said, hands folded behind his back.
Lee Soo Hyuk tapped on the desk whilst looking at the documents on his hands.
Frowning conclusively when he saw pictures of a battered and disheveled Kim Rok Soo. Though it spiked up when he saw another person beside *his* Kim Rok Soo.
Bruises and bandages were covered in both individuals, but what was striking was the fact that they seemed close.
"Who is this?"
"His name is Jung Sooho, an acquaintance of Kim Rok Soo. They have lived together for 4 years."
Soo Hyuk tapped on the desk once again, a smile appeared on his face, a mischievous smile.
"Get me information about him."
"Yes, boss."
This will be fun.

KRS, LSH, and CJS met in their childhood. They were especially close and the two oldest would take care of KRS, they didn't know (at the time) why KRS was always injured but they would treat him whenever they could.
But they separated because LSH & CJS's family disliked KRS, and being a mafia you couldn't have anyone you treasured.
(I don't know what to make of CJS's role in the story)
kz
KRS then met JSH a few years later, who protected KRS. This relationship is just platonic/family, like JSH is the older hyung whole KRS is the weak dongsaeng.
JSH can't express any emotions, he'd have a deadpan and stoic face despite looking pretty young. He wouldn't show any emotions even if he were in pain.
When KRS was brought to LSH by his request, he was fidgety and asked for JSH many times. Saying "He'll search for me when I'm gone"(?) "I have to see him"
LSH would frown and ask for them to bring JSH, who interested him because KRS was extremely attached to him.
When LSH's underlings found JSH, he was in a terrible shape. His body was covered in scars and whip marks, and his heartbeat was slow in rhythm.
When JSH arrived, KRS panicked and thought LSH was the one who did this to him without any explanation.

Ah..
So this must have been how it felt.
Losing someone.
*
A lone figure stood in front, shoulders hunched over, and tired eyes gazed over the portraits.
*'Sooho! Go and play with your friends, don't worry about us'*
*'Pick whatever you like, Sooho. It's your birthday'*
*'Sooho! Run!'*
***SLAM!***
.
*'Sooho... my baby...'*
*'S, stay alive... for us.'*
.
The most painful part was that he could still remember very clearly that dreadful moment.
When the psychiatrist asked him, he acted ignorant and like a child who had no idea what happened. His actions fooled even professionals. Like it always did.
When he was sent to a relative's house, he continued to act and behave like any other child would. Except as a child who lost their parents to a car accident, *and experienced it themselves*.
Sooho kept his act going, to be treated less than an animal and more like a person.
When he ran off at night, carrying his belongings and clothes.
He didn't have any reason to do so.
But as he ran, and continued to run.
He wondered if this was a dream.
He wondered if he could wake up from this dream.
He wondered...
If *they* were still alive.
When he closed his eyes and slept in a dark alleyway, ran to wherever he could go.
When he looked for food, attempting to steal some had he not been given some from sympathetic adults and kind restaurant owners.
He wondered.
-
One night, he heard sounds.
Deafening sounds that would make anyone wonder what happened in that house.
Sooho peeked in a window and immediately frowned upon seeing such a sight.
When it suddenly turned silent, Sooho thought the young boy was dead.
He rushed in when the older, drunk man left.
Checking if the boy close to his age was still breathing, he gave a sigh of relief and tried to stop the bleeding on the boy's head.
Sooho lifted him up by the shoulders and tried tirelessly to bring them out of the cold room.
When he finally did, he was able to find an abandoned building that had a few spare blankets and used them to give warmth to the freezing child.
-
!
The child who woke up a few hours later flinched upon seeing Sooho, and looked around the unfamiliar place but also the bandages on his body.
Sooho distanced himself and the child to not frighten him.
After the child seemed to calm down a little. Sooho reached over to a pack of food he found that he had eaten a few days ago, but chose to save it for the future as it has a long lasting expired date.
"Do you want something?"
Sooho asked, handing over the pack of food.
.
"What's your name?"
"... Kim Rok Soo."
"I see."
Sooho said, leaning over the wall and looked at the battered window.
He then looked at Rok Soo.
"My name is Sooho, Jung Sooho. Nice to meet you"
A small smile appeared on his face as he patted Rok Soo's hands.
-
"Sooho..."
Rok Soo leaned towards Sooho, who lifted his chin up upon hearing his voice.
Even when Rok Soo kept leaning closer and closer to him, he didn't budge an inch.
Rok Soo grabbed Sooho's tie and pulled him closer.
When their lips connected, Sooho grabbed Rok Soo's shoulders to balance himself as he was about to fall on the bed.
It lasted a few seconds but it only played to Rok Soo's fantasy more, who developed feelings for Sooho during their long lasting relationship together.
They parted, both panting and out of breath.
On the other hand, Sooho's hands reached over to Rok Soo's head and patted him.
"Go to sleep, Rok Soo"
Sooho gave Rok Soo a small smile, and continued to pat him on the head.
