@jegulus-microfic - Stay - words-345
James knocked lightly on the bedroom door in front of him.
“Come in,” he heard a weak voice say.
He balanced the teacup in his hand, careful not to spill as he opened the door. There was a movie playing from the TV on the wall when he came in. Regulus was lying in bed curled up in the comforter. He coughed hard, shoulders shaking.
“Don’t look at me,” he whined. “I look pathetic.”
“Don’t be silly, are you ok?” James asked, concerned, setting the tea on the side table.
“It’s just a cold, James, I’m not dying.”
James chuckled. “I guess that’s true. I still worry though.”
Regulus rolled his eyes and turned to pick up the tea. “Thanks for this.”
“Of course!” James quipped, feeling pleased.
They fell into silence as Regulus sipped the tea, the noise of the movie filling the room. James fiddled with his hands, eventually turning to leave. Regulus probably wanted to watch his movie in peace.
“Well, hope you feel better, Reggie,” James began, moving towards the door. “I’ll just…”
He heard a small whine behind him. Turning his head, he saw Regulus looking up at him from the bed with pink cheeks and a small pout.
“Stay?” Regulus practically whispered, averting his eyes.
James bit down on his lip to contain his smile as much as he could, his face flushed slightly. He turned and walked to the other side of the bed, silently climbing in and sitting next to Regulus. James didn’t say anything when Regulus shifted towards him, leaning in as he sipped his tea. Regulus didn’t say anything when James put an arm around him, eyes going wide while he intensely tried to focus on the screen in front of him, hoping James was doing the same.
Regulus risked a quick glance up and saw James looking right at him. Regulus huffed and turned away.
“I thought I told you not to look at me,” he snarked.
James hummed and turned towards the TV with a smirk. “Of course, amor, my bad.”
Regulus squeaked.
