Chapter Text
It was the afternoon, around 3pm and your stomach was growling, harmonising with the melodic singing of birds accompanied by cars’ engines in the distance, leaving roads as quickly as they entered them.
“Jeez, cheer up!” Nobara peeked around Fushiguro to examine you, not waiting for your irritated response before speaking again, “Hey, Megumi, which house did Yuji say was his?”
The dark haired boy finally looked up from his phone, which every now and then produced a robotic voice instructing their next directions. He slid the mobile back into his empty pocket before parting his lips to speak, a finger pointing at a home across the street.
”There, the one with the red door.”
Kugisaki playfully shoved the moody boy out of her way and held your hand, her grip tight with warm fingers against your own. She escorted you across the road, only giving each side a glance before scurrying across, Megumi following behind.
As you all stood at the door, you couldn’t help but feel.. uncomfortable? No.. not that.. you felt-
Megumi reached over you, startling you out of your thoughts, rang the doorbell and brought his arm back. You stared at the door impatiently, curling your fingers into a fist on each hand, feeling the sweat accumulate. You fiddled with your feet for a few seconds, before a figure finally opened the door. You expected to see Yuji’s gleeful expression, welcoming you three in with excitement, but you were met with a man that looked.. uncomfortably similar to him.
You could make out so many similarities, yet so many differences. His hair was slightly more grown out than Yuji’s, more messy too, his nails were longer and perfectly painted black, your eyes ran across every inch of skin visible and noticed black markings around his limbs, as well as on his face, perfectly outlining his features. When he was about to speak, your stare immediately darted to his teeth, much sharper and intimidating. He was also taller than Itadori, who was already taller than you.
”Yuji is upstairs.” His deep, growly voice sending shivers down your spine and forcing you to clench your thighs together. You both made eye contact and a devious smirk lifted one of the corners of his mouth, yet your nervous lips quivered. Why did you feel so wrong? Before anybody could say something, the Itadori-lookalike stepped out of the doorframe and walked back upstairs, completely dissapearing out of your vision a few seconds before a door slammed shut.
You exchanged looks with your friends, who surprisingly gave nothing in return. Were you just being paranoid?
Each of your friends, now including Yuji, were sat in a circle on his bedroom floor.
Itadori was rambling about a new game he started playing, whilst Nobara listened intently and made comments as Megumi scrolled through who-knows-what on his phone. However, you had nothing occupying you but the moment you shared with the man at the door. It filled your mind like jelly in a donut, or a large bucket of toxic liquid being poured into a small cup with a much smaller capacity.
”Uhm..” you were considering asking Yuji who that man you saw was, but hesitated..
”What’d you say?” Megumi looked over at you, it was clear that the other two hadn’t even noticed your mumbling.
”Oh, well.. y’know the guy we saw.. who let us in the house? Looked like Yuji..?” You proposed the question whilst looking down at the floor beneath you in embarrassment.
Megumi tilted his head slightly, his long hair shifting along with it, “Yeah? You don’t?”
You immediately looked up at him, your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “Hold on, what? You actually do know him? Who is that?!” You began to raise your voice slightly.
”Calm down, that’s just Itadoris older brother.”
It was all starting to make sense now. Their extremely similar features, the fact they were living in the same house.. it was so obvious!
“What’s his na-“
You were once again interrupted by the door opening widely, Yuji’s tall brother standing in the door frame for the second time you’d seen today.
“Mind shutting up? You four are so fucking loud.” He snapped.
”Sorry, Sukuna!” Yuji replied, itching the back of his neck.
His older brother scoffed and rolled his eyes, before catching yours. Your gazes remained locked onto eachothers for what felt like hours, until you snapped out of your delusion and realised it was probably just a few seconds.
As if he hadn’t already slammed one door, he slammed his brother’s too, before stomping back to his own room, mumbling curses on the way.
