Of five people, three must pay a price.
Instead of looking terrified like Ren was expecting him to, the other just had a look of annoyance. Dan Heng looked at him like the cockroach that won’t die after stepping on it multiple times. He shut the book he was reading and looked ready to take a nap, honestly.
“Did you have to come while I was marking this one specimen? It’s a nearly extinct species which I was just about to put into the data bank before you came.” The other manifested Cloud Piercer while having the most bored expression on his face. “Can we make this quick so I can go back to annotating? But I suppose you haven’t had your daily stabbing today, so I’ll indulge you.”
Ren couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “You’re not scared? I could end you at any point, you know.”
The other rolled his eyes. “Oh, please. You would be able to get a scratch on a good day. I know all your little tricks by now; I’ve been journaling each one of our encounters.”
Well, Ren supposed the revenge could be prolonged for a few minutes. “You wrote about me? Let me see. I’ll tell you if it’s accurate or not.”
The other immediately put away his weapon. “Ok, great.”
