What have I done?”
“I should have stopped him. I should have told him everything. Yet, this is my fault. I truly believed he trusted me, and believed he could overcome his nature. Foolish, naive girl. Why did I open my heart so easily? Did I come here to answer the call? To save them? To save him…”
Her voice soft and sorrowful, the moment Elden Brain fell upon the roaring blood-red sky of Baldur’s Gate, she fled.
"In order to save one's life, I allowed him to trade with seven thousand others. To let him secure what is called 'happiness,' I lent him my eyes for guidance. Thus, I have been stripped of my grace. Bearing my sins naked, I must pay my penance. O, heavenly grace, your warmth embraces only those who find light in the darkness, those who hone their will for their beliefs. I have failed you. Ten cast aside, for I will atone for my sins. Please heed my prayer, let my hope be safe, and I shall redeem my soul in your eternal embrace, O Heavenly Mother.”
The long-lost bride fled to an isolated nowhere, far, far away to the Eastern South, where tropical forests hide their gems. She fled with the seed of false hope. Heaven forbid! If ever the Vampire Ascendant knew about their fruit of reunion, the child would be damned of its very last vestige of humanity. How laughable it was to call such a humanoid creature human, those who were meant to walk the land of sun now shone in the embrace of darkness, reduced to nothing but a monstrosity of a being. The once demi-goddess was now a traitor, bringing false hope with her in an attempt to secure its life. How laughable fate had its hand in the story. No longer did the New Moon bear her hope; it marked the time her last breath was drawn. Paid with all her being, chained by fate itself, the New Moon pledged on her last breath. Should she be damned to Nyx's eternal flow, let the child be unbounded by its roots. Should the child spread his wings, please let him be free to roam the land, so that one day he could roam the realm unbound. Should he find his way, pray that her hope guides him to the Neverending Winter.
The day the child was born marked the death of a demi-goddess.
O, how fates wove their thread, her hope chose to stay, pledging his soul to guard the New Moon's grave forevermore.
O, how fates wove their thread, her hope already gave up the hope of life.
O, how fates wove their thread, as the sire found his way to her grave.
O, how fates wove their thread, as the child had long given up hope.
A river of blood and flesh, her hope's eyes faded quickly. She should have known, yet again her mortal heart was blinded by emotions. Her false hope, long before dawn, had already given up on life. Bound by fate, chained by blood, the moment light passed his eyes, did the Vampire Ascendant know the price of godhood when slayed her false hope.
Forevermore, she was bound, giving up everything to be chained with his mother, relinquishing all so he could find his haven.
The night was only filled with the silent cry of a newly born catastrophic god. Thus, the New Moon wept, as she foresaw the world's end.
Her sole regret was loving him.
Her sole regret was partway with their child...
