Notes:

Dear reader,
If you've clicked on this story, let me apologise in advance. I wrote this story in a span of 10 minutes out of excitement and the need for more, thus, this was born.
It's far from perfect, but it's what I could come up with in the moment. It pretty much follows exactly what happens at the end of the show...with my little twist at the end. I don't know yet if I will continue with it, but if you like what you read please let me know and I may add another few chapters.
So without further adeu,
Please enjoy☺️

Work Text:

Yeo Hwa

A year. For a whole year she's been able to live freely with a smile on her face. It hadn't all been what she thought it would be. Living life drifting from place to place you were bound to run into trouble eventually, a woman alone, an easy target to be preyed upon. They were quickly dealt with however when their necks were met with the sharp blade of her sword. But now, she was back in the capital for one thing only. Well, one person.

"If you leave now, will you ever return?"

"I will not"

At the time her 'husband' asked her that question she had been so sure of the answer. She had lived 15 years of her life dedicated to being a loyal widowed wife and suffered the consequences that came with that title, so in that moment of freedom granted to her by the king she believed it would be easy.

It wasn't. Everyday the only thing that filled her thoughts were the moments she shared with Suhoo. At first, whenever she would think of him, she would smile and tell herself that he must be living a good life and shrug it off as another memory of a friend.

But then she would find herself daydreaming, thinking of the way his eyes would shine with curiosity every time he saw her don her vigilante persona or the way he would call upon her.

"Bu-in"

And in those moments, she found herself missing him. Over time, the more she thought of him, the more her heart grew heavy. She was longing for him...longing to see his face, to touch him...to hear his voice again.

"Bu-in"

So, she made the decision to come back. Conveniently enough, she heard through the grapevine that a gang of men were kidnapping young women and thought it quite fitting that a group of thugs would be the first to see her return back to the capital.

"Help, please someone" the scream comes from a young woman, sheer terror on her face, hanbok stained with dirt and hair askew, running through the streets of the capital trying but failing to escape her persuers.

From her vantage point she could see the three men close in on the woman who was backed up against a building, no possible escape in sight. Smirks grace the ugly faces of the woman's captors as they leer at her menacingly and a feeling of rage and disgust sweeps over her, grip tightening on the weapon she carries.

"Please. Why are you doing this?" The woman pleads. In return, all she gets is the sound of snickering.

Taking action, Yeo-hwa jumps from the roof of the building and makes a perfect landing.

Sensing someone behind them, the three men turn and look at her.

"I was wondering who was once again disrupting the peace in the capital. It turned out to be you punks"

"Who goes there?" One of the men shouts.

As the first two men advance toward her, she grabs something flat from near by just in time to dodge the fist flying at her. Moving swiftly, she uses the lid to hit her assailant in the face while using her weapon to land another blow to his stomach knocking him back.

The next guy tries to grab at her but moving quickly on her feet, she manages to spin out of his grasp and throws the lid, which collides with perfect precision into his face, the force knocking him back slightly.

Seeing them quickly regain composure, she readies herself to land the simultaneous last blows. They charge toward her and with her weapon in one hand and making a tight fist with the other, she turns and kneels quickly as they run forward landing powerful to the scumbags nether regions.

'that oughta do it' she thinks as they both fall to the ground groaning in pain. Rising to her feet, she comes face to face with what looks like the leader of the gang.

He's big. Bigger than her and wields what looks to be like a meteor hammer.

"Ahhh..I just got back to the capital, and this is more than a warm welcome"

"You will be dead meat today" he says as he steps toward her, lifting his weapon over his shoulder.

Yeo-hwa drops the weapon she was holding and reaches back to unsheath her sword, eyes trained on the man in front of her. As she raises her sword ready to strike, a voice suddenly rings through the streets of the city.

"Commandant Park"

At the sound of the familiar name, panic shoots through her body and the only thing on her mind now is too flee.

"Commandant Park" the voice calls out again and before she knows it the men have taken off running.

"Aish, darn it" hearing the officers coming closer, she's left with no other choice but to run in the other direction.
'the woman's safe now' she thinks as she sets off towards the city gates.

When she makes it to the gates of the city, she looks back to make sure the coast is clear and seeing that noone has noticed her appearance she turns intending to leave.

But before she can move, a tall figure emerges from out of the shadows. As soon as she sees him, it's like time stops 'he's gotten more handsome...and he smiles more easily' she thinks and before she can say a word, he's walking towards her with heat in his gaze and confidence in his stride.

Step.

"Who may you be...to be welding your sword within the the capital and wearing a mask?"

Step.

"Did you not have faith in the capital defense...and only returned because you were worried about the people?"

Step.

"Or perhaps...there is another reason for your return?" His voice...she didn't think the sound of his voice would affect her as much as it did now, and the intensity with which he was looking at her wasn't helping either.

He's managed to back her up into the stack of sacks lining the brick walls of the gate and she feels like prey being hunted.

"It is not because of my lack of trust in the capital defense" she replies nonchalantly. She knows he knows now why she's back.

"Now that I have you in my sight again...

He's smiling and she can't help but stare, transfixed as his hand reaches out to lower her mask.

"You will never...be able to escape my watch again."

Her heart races at the declaration.

"I am not one to be easily caught" she replies, echoing the same words she uttered to him the night she fought him at the beureau.

Holding her hands out toward him, she continues.

"However, I will give you the opportunity"

She expects him to make some kind of witty retort, or even just simply smile at her.

What she doesn't expect, is the way he grabs her by the arm and twirls her into him so she settles perfectly in his arms.

'He's gotten more brazen too...what a pleasant surprise'

"Bu-in" he drawls, eyes dark with something akin to hunger in his gaze.

And before she can say anything else, she feels warm, firm lips colliding with her own.
