Steve could feel the eyes following him from the shadows as he walked across the dimly lit room towards the bar in the corner. The sound of the worn leather creaking on the ancient bar stool seemed to echo through the room. He carefully rolled up his sleeves until the still healing cuts just above his wrist were visible and waited. It didn't take long.
The Pearlo was a makeshift bar in a dilapidated building on the outskirts of town but it was well known to anyone with a heartbeat and enough desperation to make themselves known. Steve had discovered it almost by accident when he felt as though everything in his life was spiralling out of control. His parents forgot he existed until it was convenient for them and then they felt they could control every aspect of his life. He would graduate later this year and he had money hidden in the back of his closet. He didn't like to think too hard on how he'd acquired it but he was grateful he at least had something that his dad couldn't throw back in his face. He would never know about it or how he'd got it.
Icy cold fingers stroked over the back of his neck and he turned slightly to see that familiar glow. It was golden like the sun but without any of the warmth. He could feel the eyes linger on his arm before the fingers at his throat danced over his pulse point. He pulled back slightly.
"I'm only offering here."
He ran his fingers over the healing cuts. The vampire inhaled discreetly but Steve had been here many times before. He knew what he had to offer.
"I'll triple your price."
Steve shook his head.
"Take it or leave it."
"I could make it so good for you."
Steve stood and walked back towards the door. He knew it was a bold move but he'd learned very quickly that his blood was very sought after. The skin on the back of his neck prickled as he felt the air seem to shift behind him as the vampire followed him through the door. He walked briskly to his car which was parked behind some trees a little further down the road. As he closed his door the vampire leaned forward and grabbed his arm. He shivered a combination of their cold lips and a casual display of their abilities. As the teeth sank into his flesh he couldn't help the small gasp that escaped his lips as his stomach twisted pleasantly.
He was still feeling a little drained from a few nights before and knew it was best if he gave himself at least a few weeks before he even considered going back. Yet he couldn't stop thinking about the shoebox slowly filling with money at the back of the closet. The one he wanted to be overflowing by commencement. He would have a full tank of gas and just drive until he found somewhere far away that he could start over.
He shivered slightly as he ran his fingers over the bandage on his arm. He would never admit where the money came from. Since mythical creatures had become accepted there were ways someone could donate their blood for a small fee. Going to sleazy makeshift dive bars was not the most respectable way. Steve didn't have time to go through official channels, especially since he'd learned that the vampires who hung around the shadows of Hawkins had a taste for him. One that they would pay a lot for.
He'd heard that being a donor was a very clinical experience and you didn't interact with the vampire outside of an initial appointment. Vampires seemed to have a very heightened sense of smell and from his experience, they could smell the blood flowing under your skin. He'd known from the very first moment of meeting one that his blood was special. They always moaned into his skin, sinking their fangs a little deeper and sometimes he had to be forceful in getting his arm back. He'd been lucky so far that they had all eventually acquiesced with no real damage done. They always wanted his throat. Their eyes burned into it hungrily but he didn't want something he couldn't hide so insisted on his arms. He bit his lip as his stomach twisted at the pleasant feeling of fangs sinking into his skin. It felt so good that he sometimes wondered what they would feel like in his throat. He thought he could always give in just before he left as he'd have plenty of recovery time on the road.
He walked through the rest of the day in a daze barely paying attention to anyone. Tommy had been talking all day about some new kid who he thought would be perfect for the basketball team. Steve didn't care about basketball. He only stayed on the team because it was something he could still do with Tommy and it meant less time stuck in his big lonely house. His mind was already on the road. A cold French fry hit him just above the eye. He turned towards a grinning Tommy.
"Have you been listening to me?"
"Yeah you're excited about some new kid just ask him out already."
Tommy laughed that crazy hyena laugh when it seemed he wasn't taking things too seriously. It always had a little edge to it like Steve was hitting too close to home.
"Wouldn't want to break your heart, Stevie."
"I'll get over it eventually."
"You need to see this kid, I'm telling you he'd take us to finals."
"How can you tell that by looking at him?"
Tommy's grin grew wider.
"Trust me."
He had a small pang of guilt looking at Tommy across the lunch table. They'd been best friends since kindergarten and they shared everything. Tommy knew what his home life was like and had kept him company when he was at his loneliest. There were no secrets between them until now. Steve didn't tell him why he was too busy to hang out some nights or about the shoebox of money and his plan. There was a small part of him that wanted to tell him about his plans and a little flame of hope that he'd want to go with him. However, there was a stubborn part that wanted to do this on his own. He wanted to prove to himself that he could.
He arrived at practice a little late as he'd been debating on whether to go or not. The bandage on his arm had become a recurring thing that someone was bound to notice eventually. It was the idea of just sitting at home with too many thoughts running through his head that decided for him. As he walked onto the court he saw several of the players gathered around someone new. He was around Steve's height but much more broad and muscular. He had wavy blonde hair and a sharp smile. He said something that Steve couldn't quite make out and everyone around him laughed. There was something about him that made the back of Steve's neck prickle in that familiar way that he didn't like to think about unless he was alone. His hand subconsciously moved to cover his bandage when bright blue eyes locked with his own.
"Stevie good of you to finally show up."
Tommy stole his attention but he could still feel that hungry stare. He walked over towards them when the new kid suddenly stepped in front of him. Steve looked back at him. He pushed into Steve's personal space as though he had a right to be there. His smile spread obnoxiously as though he knew something that Steve wasn't privy to yet.
"Steve, this is Billy, he's trying out for the team today."
Steve nodded in acknowledgement and tried to move back. Billy placed his hand on his shoulder keeping him in place. He shivered as the coldness seeped through his shirt.
"Don't worry Princess, I'll try not to make you look too bad out there."
The coach blew the whistle and called them all over. He discussed a few strategies and split them into shirts and skins. Steve couldn't concentrate with the cold feeling of dread that started to spread through him. His mind was screaming at him that he was about to be exposed even though he had no proof. Someone could be from California and still run cold he thought but the twist in his stomach didn't agree.
Billy had been placed on the skins side while Steve was shirts. The look of glee on Billy's face made him desperately wish they were on the same side. It was only supposed to be a friendly game so the coach could observe Billy as he tried out and watch the rest of them for improvement.
Steve had been looking forward to a relaxing game as he was still drained but Billy didn't have the same idea. He blazed through the court like a demon with hell hot on his heels. He didn't give Steve an inch the whole game, easily taking the ball and making Steve look uncoordinated and slow by comparison. He was gasping with sweat running down his back and Billy looked like he hadn't even started. By the time the coach blew his whistle on the game, Steve had to use every last ounce of strength not to just give in and lie down on the ground.
He felt a cold hand on his shoulder and despite himself, he wanted to lean in and bask in it for even a moment. Cool lips near his ear.
"Better luck next time Sweetheart."
Tommy's excited voice echoed through his head as he appeared beside him like an overexcited puppy.
"Didn't I tell ya Stevie, we're going to win this year for sure."
He nodded tiredly and followed them both into the lockers. He didn't spend too much time dissecting the game, just striped off his damp uniform and grabbed his stuff for the shower. He forced himself into a shower at the back so he could avoid more basketball talk. His eyelids were drooping as he turned on the almost too-hot water. He stepped underneath the spray, getting his hair nice and wet and letting his mind wander to his soft bed at home.
He wasn't even going to spend too much time on his hair. Just enough that he didn't look like a wet dog and then straight into his car and home. He was so focused on his shower and plans that he didn't hear someone else in the shower with him. He jumped at the feeling of icy fingers touching his arm. He looked down to see that he'd forgotten about his bandage and it was wet and useless on his arm. The still-healing cuts from several nights before were visible.
Gooseflesh broke out across the back of his neck as he looked up into the furious eyes of Billy. His mouth was in a straight line as he pulled the soggy bandage from Steve's skin and threw it behind him. He pulled his arm closer to him. His vice-like grip left Steve with no option but to let him. He stared at the cuts as though they offended him. His voice could cut through glass when he spoke.
"Whore yourself out for money or is it just cheap thrills?"
Steve's stomach sank at the same time as his muscles tensed. His mind was enraged. He pulled fruitlessly on his arm but Billy's grip was too strong causing him to slip on the wet floor of the shower. Billy pulled him into his cold wet body to steady him. Steve glared at him. Billy's eyes flashed gold and Steve shivered. That nagging feeling overtook his mind like a raging storm and he froze in place even though he desperately wanted to run. He could see his carefully constructed image of himself being torn down easily by the sordid truth of what he'd been doing.
Creatures were slowly being accepted but it had taken many generations for that to be true. Human interaction especially when it involved blood was only acceptable under very strict circumstances. Steve had flouted those rules for his gain and now he was going to lose everything.
Cold skin pressed in against his neck. Billy took a shuddering breath and seemed to subconsciously pull him closer. He took several deep breaths before Steve felt sharp pointed fangs scrape over his skin. His heart was hammering in his chest as his mind clouded over with his conflicted feelings of how good it felt when they sank into his skin. He started to pant as he felt overwhelmed. Billy pushed a little closer.
"Steve… Stevie, where are you?"
He pulled back and surprisingly Billy let him go. He stumbled back to his shower, the hot water a shock against his skin. He realised he was achingly hard and on autopilot turned off his shower and wrapped his towel around his hips. He walked as briskly as he could, feeling Billy's stare the whole way.
Tommy was still excitedly talking about finals he hadn't even showered yet but Steve felt wired and cagey so he just towel-dried himself and threw on clothes practically running to his car and flooring it until he reached his driveway.
He tried desperately to avoid Billy after that but between Tommy's admiration and basketball, it was a fruitless endeavour. Billy wasn't as forward as he had been that first day in the showers but his eyes followed Steve everywhere. He had a knowing look to them that made his stomach twist with dread for when his secret would come to light. Billy also continued to show him up in basketball even though everyone already considered him the star player for the team.
Over a week had gone by and he was itching to go back to Pearlo. Billy would hold eye contact while he licked over his teeth. A quick flash of his fangs was all it took for Steve's heart to race and his mind to envision what they'd feel like. A shove to his arm took him out of his tangled-up thoughts.
"What time are you picking me up?"
"When?"
Tommy huffed.
"For Tina's…on Friday."
He had completely forgotten about the party because it hadn't been brought up since Tommy got sidetracked by his basketball dreams. Steve had originally been looking forward to the party as a great way to blow off some steam and not be lonely. Now he wondered if he could disappear for a short while without anyone noticing.
"What time do you want picked up?"
Tommy smiled and started talking about how much fun the party was going to be while Steve silently plotted.
He had been at the party for over an hour and finally thought he'd found the perfect opportunity to escape. He'd parked his car around the side of the house telling Tommy it was because there were too many cars and his dad would kill him if he got a scratch on it. Tommy was too fired up about the party to even care what he was doing. They'd found some other members of the basketball team and soon Tommy was the centre of attention as they all talked about the coming season.
He waited patiently sipping on the coke he'd brought with him and pretending he was having a good time. His mind was already at Pearlo, the eyes watching him, the little hint of danger before money was pressed into his hand. These were the things that normally drove him there but for the first time, he was thinking about fangs sinking into his skin. He could feel his pulse fluttering in his neck. He wet his lips in anticipation of finally giving in to all the promises of how much better it would feel.
He looked around for Tommy and found him in the corner with Carol. He'd pissed her off last week and she'd dumped him but they'd been on this rollercoaster many times. Steve knew from here on out they wouldn't notice anyone else and would eventually disappear to make up in private. It was the perfect time to leave. He walked towards the back as though he was going for a smoke then he headed over towards the side of the house. He pulled out his car keys just as Billy emerged from the shadows, his eyes flashing gold.
"Leaving so soon…"
"I forgot something at home I'll only be…"
The words died on his tongue as he found himself pinned against the side of his car before he could fully register what was happening.
"Don't lie to me Sweetheart, I can practically smell your excitement."
He leaned in closer causing Steve to shiver. He tried to convince himself it was because of the chill to his skin. His lips brushed his ear as his voice dropped to a gravelly whisper.
"So desperate to whore yourself out to any vamp that'll have you…"
Billy's cool lips pressed against his skin and slowly moved down. Steve felt like he couldn't breathe. He wanted more money so he had plenty to spare when he left and he wanted all of it to be from him. Nothing from his dad who would only hold it over his head for the rest of his life. His pulse fluttered like a captured butterfly under Billy's lips. A fang scraped against it and Steve thought his heart was going to explode. He took a shuddering breath. His mind was racing. There was something he wanted more than money. Right now more than anything. He slowly turned his head to the side stretching it out under Billy's lips. He felt him groan softly against his skin before his kisses became more forceful until he could feel sharp teeth. He felt a little lightheaded at the idea when suddenly Billy sank his fangs into his flesh.
There was a sharp point of pain. He could feel warm blood running past Billy's cold lips and he had a hysterical thought that of course, Billy would be a messy eater. He felt stiff fingers digging into his hips so hard that he knew he'd have bruises by tomorrow. Billy made an almost inhuman sound as he pressed his fangs in harder and pleasure flooded Steve so suddenly that he was only being kept upright by Billy and his car behind him. He felt so overwhelmed. So many emotions and needs running through him but he was frozen to the spot. He could feel his stomach twisting with pleasure. His head was spinning. His knees shaking. He was harder than he'd ever been in his life.
He knew somewhere deep down that he should be scared. There was a little moonlight illuminating them but he knew Billy could easily pull him into the shadows and drain him dry even if people were standing right beside them. He could feel Billy shaking against him as though he were fighting desperately against some deep dark urge within him. Yet the pleasure was so intense. It overwhelmed all his senses that everything else just melted away and he was completely in this moment. He struggled to breathe as he felt his cock throb in his jeans as pleasure pooled at the base of his spine. A sound escaped his mouth that sounded somewhere between a gasp and a moan. He felt more of Billy's teeth brush his skin as he smiled. He shook as he came completely untouched. Darkness overtook him.
He slowly returned to consciousness the following afternoon safely tucked into his bed. Billy had even cleaned him up stripped off his jeans and uncomfortable underwear and put him in sweats. This surprised him slightly as he assumed Billy got what he wanted so why put in any more effort? He dragged himself into the shower wincing when the water touched his throat. He checked it in the mirror. It looked like a particularly vicious love bite but it was extremely tender to the touch. He sighed as he wondered how he was going to explain this.
In the end, he spent a week in turtle necks and skipped basketball. Tommy stopped speaking to him until he returned but the fire in Billy's eyes kept him distracted. He seemed to revel in showing Steve up at practice. He couldn't stop thinking about the night of the party. He even found himself pressing his fingers into the healing cuts until he was squirming on his bed. The vicious bite turned to scar tissue as he wouldn't let it properly heal.
Soon he needed to return to Pearlo. He tried to convince himself it was because he needed the money. That he was running out of time. He'd run his fingers over the wound caused by Billy's teeth and had to admit the truth.
He tried to occupy his time until it was dark. Vampires could move around freely in the light but for illicit deals over blood, it had to be done in the dark. The twist of anticipation under his skin grew steadily over the day until finally he got in his car and headed towards the back roads of Hawkins.
He parked his car a short distance away and walked swiftly towards the bar. He could smell the stale alcohol and hear the muffled sound of the music as he approached the battered door. His fingers had just brushed the cool metal when he felt arms wrapped around him and he found himself on the roof. He turned slightly and found Billy glaring at him before he advanced and grabbed him pulling him close.
Billy's fingers were so tight on his arms that it felt like they were burrowing under his skin. Steve tried to pull back but his feet slipped on the moss that covered the roof. Billy bared his teeth.
"What are you doing at this shit hole?"
"Nothing to do with you."
"That's where you're wrong Princess."
Billy pulled him close, his cold lips pressed against Steve's fluttering pulse point. His head started to fog as he felt the sharp pointed end of his fangs scrape over his skin. His mind transported back to the night of Tina's party and the delirious pleasure that had coursed through him when they'd pierced his skin.
"You came here to whore yourself out like a cheap trick for any bottom feeder that'll give you attention."
Steve pulled back abruptly. He slid, feeling his right heel dance with the edge of the roof. Billy's eyes flashed glacial gold.
"Return me to the ground. Now."
He found himself in the passenger seat of Billy's car flying back to Hawkins at breakneck speed before he'd even realised he'd moved. He glanced over but Billy was focused on the road ahead. He sighed when he remembered that his car was parked down the road from Pearlo. He hoped nothing happened to it as it was part of his plan to get out of there.
He was surprised when Billy pulled his car into his parent's driveway. The house had a few lights on to give the appearance that someone was home but Steve knew how empty it was inside.
"You don't need to go there."
He could feel Billy's eyes burning into the side of his face as Steve stared at his house. He sighed.
"I need the money."
Billy's teeth glinted in the dim light.
"Not getting enough allowance Princess?"
Steve turned toward him with a glare.
"You don't know me or my situation so why don't you just fuck off."
He reached back and pulled open the door before he stormed from the car and headed towards his front door. He quickly opened it only to find himself on the other side pinned by Billy's much larger body.
"Stop doing that."
Billy pressed his face close to his neck. His words spoke against his skin causing him to shiver.
"I can give you whatever you need and you know I can make it good for you…you don't need anyone else…"
Steve took a shaky breath.
"Think you can afford me?"
"The more important question is do you think you'll want anyone else?"
Billy's cool tongue licked over his pulse and Steve swallowed hard. He knew when Billy was this close he couldn't lie about how much he affected him. Even if he desperately wanted to. A surprisingly soft kiss was placed against his fluttering pulse before he felt the scrape of teeth once more.
"C'mon Sweetheart you remember how good it feels when I bite here…"
He pressed his teeth a little harder until his fangs just pierced his skin. Steve started to pant. Billy pulled back.
"Have you considered what it'll feel like in other places?"
Steve's heart started to jackhammer in his chest. He hadn't considered it but now his mind was filled with the possibilities. He turned as best he could towards Billy who smirked at him and licked over his teeth. Steve pulled away and Billy let him. He walked on shaky legs towards the stairs looking back to make sure Billy followed him. He could feel that prickle on the back of his neck that spoke of danger as Billy prowled after him like a big cat stalking its prey. Only he wanted to be devoured.
He reached his room feeling like he'd run a marathon and instead of sitting on his bed like he'd planned, he flopped down on top of it. He found Billy watching him from the doorway with a bemused look on his face. He seemed content to draw things out but Steve was feeling impatient. Desperate.
"Run out of stamina?"
Billy laughed quietly.
"Just giving you a second to catch your breath, Princess. Wouldn't want to wear you out too fast."
Steve felt frustrated but he knew Billy could and would easily wear him out. However, he knew he had an advantage of his own. He sat up and quickly pulled his sweater over his head and threw it behind him. He threw his shoes and socks on the ground. He held eye contact with Billy then kneeled on the bed as he slowly unzipped his jeans. He turned his head slightly to the side knowing that the thin skin of his neck became almost translucent. Billy's eyes flashed gold as he became focused on it. He cried out as he found himself pinned to the bed by a naked Billy sucking marks into his throat.
He kissed his way down Steve's body, divesting him of the rest of his clothes. He pushed his way in between his legs placing soft fleeting kisses on his thighs. Steve's skin was tingling with anticipation but Billy's kisses didn't grow any harder. Soon he became frustrated again.
"What are you waiting for?"
"For you to tell me how much you want me to."
Steve sighed.
"You don't need me to tell you."
"I know you're a little slut for fangs but I want you to tell me how much you want me to do it."
"Why does it matter?"
"I want to hear it."
Steve rolled his eyes and then through tight lips.
"Please bite me."
"Is that what you say down at Pearlo?"
"No, I…it's different."
"How?"
"Billy, that was just a business thing…I needed money…they needed blood…"
He hissed as Billy pinched his thigh. He looked down, finding his furious face glaring up at him.
"If you want me to bite you, you can never go back there…"
"Why does it matter?"
He suddenly found himself pinned under Billy. His eyes burned with hot golden fury. His fingers dug into Steve's wrists so tight they felt like restraints made of metal.
"Anything you need I can get you…I don't share Princess and you know what I can do for you."
"I…I just want to get out of here once I graduate but I want to do it on my own…"
Billy's face softened as he leaned forward and captured his lips in a passionate kiss. He kissed his way down his throat.
"Anything you need…"
Steve's hands were free and almost on instinct he found himself wrapping them around Billy's shoulders and pulling him closer. He moved his head to the side, barely able to hide his disappointment when Billy pulled back.
"Say it."
He licked his lips. His stomach twisted in anticipation. There was a tremble in his voice.
"Please…I want to feel you…"
Billy's eyes flashed gold like the sun hitting against a mirror before his cool lips were back at his throat. Steve shivered as they kissed their way to his fluttering pulse. He cried out when two pointed fangs pierced his skin and white hot pleasure coursed through his body. Billy's tongue lapped at his skin as his blood flowed into his mouth. He moaned against his skin as his fingers gripped him tight. Steve squirmed as the pleasure became almost too much when Billy pulled back. He looked down at him with hungry eyes and for a moment Steve's heart jackhammered in his chest. That small voice in his head that cried about monsters in the shadows who would devour your soul became a screaming banshee. Billy licked the bright red blood from his lips as his eyes drank in Steve. He stopped breathing.
Billy slowly moved closer until his body was covering Steve once more. He whimpered when he felt how hard they both were. Billy's hand slid past his hip and wrapped around both their cocks. He rubbed them together and captured his lips in a passionate kiss. He whined at the taste of his blood on his tongue. Billy kissed him until he was breathless then moved down his body leaving a trail of soft kisses making his skin tingle in anticipation.
A slight breeze was his only indication that Billy had moved when he sunk his teeth into his hip and Steve cried out as pleasure clouded his mind. He felt Billy groan against his skin before he slowly extracted his fangs and continued down his trembling body. He felt a whisper of breath against his cock and looked down to see himself reflected in Billy's dark eyes. He smiled at him and leaned forward to run the tip of his fangs along Steve's hard cock. He felt his breath freeze in his lungs as his cock pulsed and Billy's cool tongue ran along the underside. Steve whimpered. Before he could blink Billy's fangs sank into his inner thigh.
Steve threw his head back on a moan as pre-come from his cock dripped onto his stomach and he felt a slippery finger pressed into his fluttering hole. Billy's fangs sunk in a little deeper, his tongue lapped against his skin and Steve felt that strange cool electricity flow under his skin when another finger was pushed inside. He bit his lip as he wondered if things were going to progress like the other night. When he could no longer fight against the pleasure building within him and embarrassed himself by coming in his underwear with only Billy's fangs in his throat.
He felt his fingers stroke his prostate causing his body to clamp down hard. His stomach twisted.
"Billy…fuck…please…"
Billy pulled back from his thigh and slid back up his body. His mouth was stained scarlet and Steve felt a thrill knowing it was his blood.
"Need something, Sweetheart?"
Steve's mouth felt bone dry so he nodded. Billy's eyes flashed.
"Are you going back there?"
Steve shook his head. Billy watched him for a moment before he moved closer. He captured Steve's lips in a blood-drenched kiss before he pressed his hard cock against his hole.
"Say it."
"I…"
"Tell me I'm the only one who gets to taste you."
"Y-yes…only you…"
Steve tried to brace himself but he still shivered as Billy pushed forward and his oversensitive body struggled to not come at the feeling of being filled. Billy was relentless; he didn't stop until he was pressed up against his prostate and Steve shuddered, his heart racing and his stomach twisted into knots.
Billy moved slowly. His cock gradually moved back until it quickly snapped forward and held tight until Steve thought he was going to die. His body giving itself up to the ultimate pleasure. Billy kept up this pace as he kissed his way down to Steve's trembling throat. He placed a few soft lingering kisses. Steve whimpered as he moved his head to one side begging without words for more.
When Billy's fangs sank back into the wounds on his neck Steve's entire body came alive. That cool tingling building until he became frozen with it. He felt Billy growl against his skin as he increased his pace and Steve's mind filled with colourful static as he came all over his stomach. He felt Billy follow him as he bit down harder before everything went black.
He slowly returned to consciousness. His thoughts were slow and thick like syrup. He wondered if he'd died. He'd been warned about letting a vampire drink from your throat. It was dangerous like teasing a starving animal with a steak. They didn't know when to stop once they got a taste. The door to his room burst open and his heart jumped. He was alive but he could barely move. Billy was standing in the doorway. His skin was shiny with water and he only had a pair of tight-fitted jeans hugging his body as he walked in. Steve could smell food cooking. Billy's eyes travelled over him.
"Finally awake sleeping beauty."
Steve unglued his tongue from the roof of his mouth. His voice was raspy and dry like he'd been screaming for hours.
"What time is it?"
Billy smirked.
"How about what day it is?"
Steve tried to comprehend what he was saying but he was too tired. Billy walked into the room like the king of the jungle and sat on the bed beside him. Steve's body woke up in his proximity.
"I've got some food ready, so you can get your strength back up."
He moved closer until Steve could see the gleam of gold in his eyes.
"Trust me Princess you're gonna need it."
