Love Is A Fickle Thing, Though Not With You

Summary:

Love isn’t a thing that Uzi knows a lot about. Sure she can built sick as hell railguns with nothing but scrap and dig through clues as though they were made for her.

But when it came to matters of the heart. She was lost.

And lucky enough she’d found someone willing to be patient with her.

Work Text:

N was surprisingly a good kisser. For all intents and purposes it shouldn’t make any sense, a killer drone with soup for memories somehow equated to a good kisser. But it did and Uzi was living for it.

And that was just what they were doing.

Khan was out, probably finding a way to attach flamethrowers to his new door prototype, school had been finished for ages with all assignments done for once and N had dropped out of the vent in Uzi’s room seeking shelter from one of V’s murder tantrums. He wasn’t sure what exactly he’d done, but all that mattered was she was pissed and anyone near her became collateral damage.

They’d just been chilling on her bed, Uzi ranting on about the brainless idiots with whom she shared classes with, probably about Lizzy or Braden or some other drone, until... well until, N leaned in extra close, giving a shy press of his lips, and the rest was pretty much history by now.

Those same lips worked desperately against one another, seemingly trying their best to swallow the other. It was messy and awkward but that didn’t matter, Uzi wasn’t afraid to admit that she hadn’t been this close with anyone since meeting N and kissing was essentially a foreign concept to her. But N was kind and generously opted to guide her through most of it even though he had barely more knowledge than she did. It was nice to think that at else one of them knew what they were doing.

Uzi wrapped her slender arms around N’s shoulders, his coat by now had been unzipped and shoved down - the thick material bunching at his waist, pressing herself as firmly as she could to his warm body. A bonus of having a disassembly drone as your boyfriend was that they ran hotter than workers did, a byproduct that caused them to overheat without fresh oil but also turn N into her own personal radiator.

And now, she felt like she’d cling to him even if she started to melt with how hot his core was running, almost as though she could hear the internal fans kicking up a gear to keep him cool. N couldn’t help himself from worming a hand up under her hoodie, feeling the cool metal and pushing up the material up to her chest, watching, fascinated by the pulsing violet light glowing through the remaining fabric. Uzi gasped at the warmth trailing over her midsection, vents flaring to suck in needed air, the feeling of another person’s hands on her like this felt so strange and yet so good. N was also stupidly good with his hands. Damn it!

How did she, a purple haired freak, managed to get goofy golden retriever most people would kill to have? Haft the time she swore this was all some kind of joke or dream, or a weird fantasy and she was going to wake up soon enough.

“You ready?” A ghostly chuckle crackled through his voice box.

Uzi practically choked on hers before nodding frantically. God, she was so goddamn ready for anything.

Another chuckle.

“Heh, I’ll warn you now. I’m a bit of a biter.” He said huskily and flashed his sharpened fangs. She knew he meant it as a joke, he’d never purposefully hurt her, but non the less it send a shiver of want down her spine. Nope. Definitely not a dream.

N trailed kisses from the corner of Uzi’s mouth to her cheek, along her jawline before moving to her neck. Carefully grazing those fangs over the indented metal though never once biting. It was… frustrating. His other hand that wasn’t rubbing her side gently tugged at her collar, exposing more gleaming metal as a heady sense of warmth invaded Uzi’s body.

This was the furtherest they’d gone before. And it all felt too good to be real. But something started to change, rapidly.

Uzi was finding it harder and harder to breathe. A sickening feeling flooding into her chest, curling around her systems and festering in her head like a virus. Too much. Freeze.

N’s weight became suffocating, his warmth, stifling. His saliva that previously gave a tingling sensation of warmth as the nanities found nothing to heal felt sticky and gross. She wanted to claw her skin off. And as his tongue swiped closer to the the black diamond outline on her chest that housed her core, the most sensitive outer part of her, the more she wanted to squirm away. She hated this. She wanted to stop.

Uzi shoved N away, still connected by a string of spit that twanged and broke as easily as it had formed, gripping harshly into his bare shoulders ragged breaths stuttering from her chest, her hoodie lopsidedly hanging on, violet core light pounding lividly.

“That’s the third time you’ve shoved me away after saying you were ready.” N said calmly sitting up with her, his gaze softening, rubbing a hand over her arm figuring she didn’t want to be touch anywhere his mouth had just been. He’d figured right.

Uzi sniffed, synthetic tears beading in the corners of her visor. “I’m sorry.” She hiccuped, a rarity from her. “I’m ruining it, aren’t I?”

N noticed almost immediately. “No! Oh… No, no, no. Don’t worry.” He quickly hiked his jacket back on at best he could before pulling Uzi into a tight hug. He was unsure if this was allowed given her state, and he loosened his grip should she want to pull away. But she squeezed him, and he could only reaffirm his strong, careful, hold.

“Everyone moved at their own pace, right?” He tried to say reassuringly even though his own voice was wobbling. Having someone he cared for upset, hurt him almost as much as they were hurting themselves. “So don’t be sorry. I promise you’re not ruining anything by saying no.”

Uzi gave a jerky nod against his chest. “How about we just cuddle for a bit?” He whispered softly.

“Sure.”

N gave her a gentle squeeze making sure she was comfortable tucked up under him. Pressing a chaste kiss to her hair, he also helped carefully rectify her mused clothing.

They stayed together just like that for what could’ve easily been forever. But in reality was until they heard the front door open and N had to quickly scramble back out the vent before Khan realised he’d ever been there.

Once he was gone, Uzi flopped back onto her bed and groaned.

Love had been an unknown force for a long time in her life. The only frame of reference she had was the playground crush she’d nursed for Thad, the archetypal schoolgirl crush on the popular jock. It sounded corny to her now.

But now she was. Really in love with someone.

And-

She’d never been this in love before.

I wrote this in about an hour a 3am. I love these stupid dorks.
