Work Text:
Wayne Munson walked though the rebuilt town of Hawkins.
People seemed to have forgotten what happened, the town being torn apart, the number of deaths that had happened, in away he couldn't blame them it had been a few years since the earthquake.
He continued to walk people laughing and joking but for him the world was darker, colder.
Eddie was still gone, his name cleared thanks to Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, Robin Burkley and Dustin Henderson who had been their at his death, also thanks to Hopper when he had returned, he had said Eddie had infact tried to save Chrissy Cunningham and had been in a safe house before he had returned to try and help the people of Hawkins.
Hopper had told Wayne that wasn't one hundred percent the turth but he was a hero and like Dustin had said died saving a town that hated him.
He sighed putting the key in his door he closed the door putting his work bag on the hook and picked up his mail.
Turning the coffee machine on he looked though the letters sighing "bill, bill, bill..." He frowned seeing a hand written letter from california.
He poured the coffee sitting back at the table opening the letter with it was a photo, when he started to read his face turning to shook.
"Dear Uncle Wayne,
I guess you're shocked to hear from me well... So... Basically, not dead, I made it to California.
I can't, can't really get into what happened but I heard my name is clear now so I guess it's safe to reach out to you .
Please believe me Uncle Wayne I never hurt Chrissy or any other person who lost their life."
Wayne sniffed wiping his eyes has he continued to read.
"Like I said I made it out to Cali and I found her, I found Paige, we got married a year and half ago I wish you could have been there and well...we have a son."
Wayne snatched the photo looking at it, it was a photo of Eddie with a woman holding a baby.
His skin was darker, sunkist, and his hair was shorter more neck length than shoulder, but it was definitely him.
"His name is Wayne Jacob Munson, I'm going be the best father to him I can be, like you was the best father to me, because that's what you was, you was never my Uncle, not really you was more of a dad to me that Al ever was, so meet your Grandson Pops.
I hope someday you get to meet him in person someday.
I miss you more than I can ever explain, I hope we will see each other again soon, Eddie."
Wayne let the tears fall from his eyes holding the letter tightly grabbing the guitar pick necklace Eddie used to wear.
There was a knock on the door Wayne wiped his eyes walking to the door, He opened it almost falling back, "Hey Uncle Wayne."
