Chapter Text
I never asked to be born this way, i never asked to be brought into this world in this form, bloodline and heritage.
And yet it seems like human hates my kinds, they call our kinds demons, or another name; impius.
i've always been isolated ever since i was a kid, i remember my mother's words warning me about human and their hatred towards us, i never understood why.
This week, after begging my mother i was finally allowed to be on my own, i took my bicycle and rode to the river where i have always been desperate to go to.
I made a mistake of now knowing that humans are very territorial.
Another kick hit my stomach making me curled in pain into a fetal position, i didn't understand why they were doing this, all i did was walking. I wonder to myself as they all laugh at me, spitting insults about me and my bloodline, i never knew it was that shameful.
I stayed in my position as they walks away with laughters, feeling smug and satisfied after ripping the chains from my bike, leaving me to no choice but to walk home.
I drag my bike alongside me, walking on the side of the road hoping no one is going to jump me again. I received multiple wary and disdainful looks from people most of them were adults, who immediately shielded their children when i walk past them.
The bruises must be quite bad this time, i did went into a new area, i don't know anything about anyone there and their strength but the pain felt the same. I guess I've grown used to beatings.
As the sun goes down i finally arrived back home, my mother immediately runs towards me with a worried look on her face "what happened?" She asks, her tone is angry. She took my face into her hands to observe the bruises "some kids..." I answered quietly, feeling ashamed and sad from my actions today, i should've listened to my mother.
I thought she would get angry at me, but to my surprise she pulls me into a tight hug and kissed my cheek gently "are you okay?.." She asks, i nod my head in response. "Go take a bath and I'll treat your wounds after" and so i went to wash myself from all the blood and dirt on me, changed into the set of clothes put out by my mother right outside the door.
I walked into the living room where my mother already sat on the couch, with a med kit box in her hands and a bowl on the table
I sat next to her, glancing to the bowl of a beautiful red orange-ish liquid, now that i think about it i haven't eaten anything since breakfast. She gave me the bowl, making me looks towards her, wondering what this meal consist of
"I made tomato soup today, i hope you like it" she said with a warm smile which made me smile too "i like everything you make, mom" i replied and took a spoonful of the meal
It's warm, tasted slightly bland but i don't mind it because she made this meal just for me, as i eat my mother began treating the bruises on my face
Her tender and gentle touch always soothes me, knowing that there's at least someone who will not hurt me in this world...i remember there was once a child who used to live in the neighborhood who did the same, a human child. Years ago.
I no longer remember his name, but i remember his beautiful dark violet eyes, his dark purple hair that was cut into a ridiculous haircut, i believe his mother was the one who cut his hair, to save money.
Everytime i go down to the park, wishing to play with the other children to no avail, he would always approach me and play with me. It would always be just the two of us, because the other children doesn't want to play with me, they called me a freak, and called me names but he would defend me everytime. He even stepped in when the human children started to throw rocks at me.
I once asked him why he hangs out with me and not the others, i remember his answer, and always will "why not? You're the same right? Like me" despite our young age, we both were mature.
I tried explaining to him what i was, and why humans avoided me but he still insisted that we're the same, It was the first time ever i felt my existence was validated and that there was nothing wrong with me.
But of course, it seems like fate isn't on my side, he moved to a different city not long after, leaving me devastated.
With him no longer by my side the kids started to bully me again, i never went back to the park, i saw no purpose in doing so.
Until now he's still on my mind, i wanted to look for him but i had no money doing that, so i decided to apply to a part time job in the same place my mother works in, the store is owned by her friend who also shared the same blood as us.
Years passed, the humans started to warm up towards us, they were finally willing to coexist with us and even made laws to protect us, to protect me.
