Chapter Text
It was late, maybe around 1 am. Rain was not sure, he had just finished a long assignment, the last one. His brain had worked enough for one night or one week seeing as it was a very long assignment. All Rain wanted was to get some snack, text his phi that he was done and sleet until the next evening.
Bang
Sounds like life had other plans for little old Rain tonight.
Rain's neighbourhood wasn't particularly dangerous, it was a middle-class neighbourhood. Rain had heard about little thefts, mostly some break-ins but nothing too bad. When he heard the echo of a loud bang throughout the small streets around him he's brain didn't connect it with the sound of gunshots right away.
When a second bang echoed followed by the sound of garbage can's being knocked out, Rain actually stopped in his track. His first thought was that someone was must be hurt nearby and needed assistance. Usually, Phayu or Sky would tell him to not stop at his first thought, analyse the situation more. It was one in the morning, someone was in dire need of assistance and Rain didn't have the energy to think further than that.
He walked carefully, following the sound of small whimpers to the back of a dark alley. There he found a man laying down, his shirt drenched in blood.
« Phi ? » said tentatively Rain.
The man instinctively grabbed the gun by his side and pointed it at Rain menacingly. The boy's breath caught in his throat and he stepped back. He took a good look at the man. Very handsome, in his thirties maybe, long black hair and a trembling figure. The man was shaking from exhaustion and his wound. As air-headed as everyone thought Rain was, the boy could still understand that the man in front of him was actually too weak to do anything.
« My name is Rain... I was passing by and I heard... » the boy started hesitantly as he came closer. « Please let me help you phi... »
The man eventually lower his gun, apparently judging that Rain was not a threat and that he didn't have much choices. Rain took that as a sight to come closer.
« Aren't you scared little one. » the man groaned in pain.
« I'm too tired for that. » absent-mindedly said Rain as he assessed the other's wound.
The man scoffed and winced. « You're a strange kid. » he said as he watched Rain take off his sweat shirt to press it against the wound.
« And you're hurt, you need to go to the hospital. Can you stand ? » the man nodded and Rain helped him to his car which was fortunately not parked far away. He put the man on the back seat and joined the driver's seat.
« You need to stay awake, we'll be in the hospital in less than ten minutes I promise. » Rain heard no response and gave a quick look behind him afraid the man might have passed out.
« Still here kid. Just not a big talker especially when I just got shot. » he mumbled, Rain nodded but he was not about to give up. He needed this man to show he was alive at least until they reached the hospital.
« It's fine. i can do most of the talking ! What's your name phi ? » he asked while concentrating on the road.
« Call me Vegas. »
« Okay P'Vegas and hum what do you do in life ? » tried Rain lightly. The man now known as Vegas laughed dryly or tried at least.
« I was left shot in a dark alley, what do you think ? » Vegas retorted sarcastically.
« Don't be mean to your rescuer phi. » whined Rain.
« Your parents never taught you to not trust strangers. I could be dangerous »
Rain rolled his eyes. « You’re as strong as a new born-kitten right now, you might be dangerous but you’re not a threat as it is. »
Vegas seemed stunned, Rain was tired and maybe he was crossing a line but he didn’t not have the heart to care. His night was already longer than it should have been.
Vegas huffed amused. « Not a threat uh, you seem confident. What about you Rain, are you dangerous ? »
« Don’t think so. » he said most genuinely « My boyfriend says I can be but involuntarily. Have thing for getting myself in trouble. » Rain simply stated before he yawned.
« So I’ve noticed. » huffed Vegas again, only this time he felt a sting in his wound making him groan.
« We’re almost there, are you okay phi ? »
« As good as can be. » Vegas breathed though a lot weaker than his previous flegme.

1:32 am
Rain was waiting on a chair outside Vegas's room. A nurse had told him to wait for Vegas there. Rain didn't have to wait. He didn't know this man, he had saved him. Job's done.
The thing is, all his earlier adrenalin was wearing off, replaced by the heavy fatigue. To add to his situation, his phone's battery was dead meaning he couldn't call a taxi. It was okay, Phayu was not coming back before noon, Rain would have time to wait for Vegas to wake up, take a little nap, make sure the man is okay. Leave after.

3:17 am
Rain startled awake, a man was standing in front of him shaking him lightly. The man had a warm and polite smile.
« Hello, sorry. I wanted to thank you. » said the man to a completely disoriented Rain. « You saved my husband and brought him here. »
« It's fine phi » said Rain as he blinked trying to fully wake up. « Is P'Vegas awake ? » he asked with a sleepy voice while rubbing his eyes.
« Yes, come with me I was about to see him. »
Rain followed the mysterious man to Vegas's room. Vegas was looking tired but fine, his chest was covered by bandages. Rain was actually stunned to see the man in such good shape for someone who'd been shot a few hours before.
« Hey darling, how are you feeling ? » asked the man beside Rain.
Vegas and the man seemed very close and for a moment his presence was completely forgotten as they both hugged carefully.
« Got lucky I guess. » Vegas mumbled.
« Very. I'm here to take you home, the doctors agreed for the transfer. Porsche is waiting with the bodyguards. »
This situation was getting more and more mysterious. Vegas had bodyguards ? Why was he alone when he got shot then ? Rain was trying hard to think but he was still so exhausted. He was stopped in his thoughts by the mysterious man turning to him.
« Thanks again Nong, for bringing him back safely. My name is Pete, I'm Vegas's husband. » the man introduced himself. « You must be so tired, allow me to offer a place to sleep or to call a taxi. You don't seem in any state to drive. » he proposed gently.
A taxi would complicate things as Rain would have to come back to the hospital to get his car. Yet going to sleep at some strangers place was not really the safest choice.
« It's really nice of you phi but I should get back alone... » Rain started to argue when he felt a wave of dizziness making him stumble. He caught himself at the last second but nobody in the room missed that.
Pete seemed worried as he threw a pointed look at his husband. Vegas sighed. « You just saved my life kid, I owe you one. We can drop you back here to get your car tomorrow. » stated Vegas under the approving gaze of his lover.
Rain knew he shouldn't accept. His boyfriend would scold him hard for his naivety but the proposition sounded so good in his state. Pete looked like a honest guy and like Vegas said he owed him so...
« Are you sure you wouldn't mind dropping me back here phi...? » asked Rain.
After a last confirmation Rain accepted deciding he would deal with the consequences later.

Pete led Rain back to where Porsche was waiting, they agreed Rain would sleep at the main family's place as the minor family mansion would be busy welcoming Vegas in his state. Porsche was a tall very charismatic and handsome man but strangely Rain felt immediately safe with him so he didn't mind following him. On their way back Porsche and Rain talked a bit. Rain explained how he found Vegas and they both laughed at Vegas poor attempt to scare Rain away with his gun. Rain also told Porsche about his studies and why he was so tired and out in the street at 1 in the morning.
When they arrived, Rain was amazed by the size of the family compound. The cars in the parking area were luxurious, the place was decorated with taste and there were bodyguards everywhere. Just where exactly had Rain put himself into. Once again his need for sleep was stronger and he pushed his interrogation aside glad Porsche was leading him to a bed.
« Here's the room, there's also a shower inside if you need. I'll ask a maid to drop you some clean clothes for tomorrow. Make yourself at home, and if you need anything just call the room service. » explained Porsche.
« Phi that's so much thanks. » responded Rain amazed unsure if he was dreaming or if everything was real.
« You saved one of us, you're a welcome guest kiddo. Now go to sleep, you're barely standing up. »
Rain nodded and Porsche gave him a last smile before leaving.
This was definitely a dream thought Rain as he went crashing down on the most comfortable bed he'd ever been on. Sleep didn't take long to catch up with him.

Rain woke up to the light of a sun already high in the sky. He was completely lost at first unable to recognise his surroundings. He got up and tried to recall the events of the past night.
Vegas, the hospital Porsche. Oh lord this was not a dream. Phayu would definitely end him and so would Sky. First thing first, Rain had to get out of here. He easily found the clothes Porsche had promised, a large pair of shorts, a t-shirt and an oversize hoodie plus some clean underwear. The bathroom next his room was not like anything Rain had seen before. There was space large bathtub was facing the huge windows plus a shower.
Rain decided to not dwell on it more and quickly got ready. His phone was still dead so his only option was to find Porsche.
As he got out of the room he found a bodyguard waiting by the door. Startled, he took a step back but the bodyguard politely reassured him and asked Rain to follow him. Not like the boy had many choices, he was just hoping the bodyguard would lead him to Porsche.
Sooner than later, they stopped in front of a glass door leading to a garden. In it, Rain could make out Porsche sitting down next to another very handsome man with big eyebrows. A third man was sitting in front of them, his back to Rain.
« We will strengthen your security details, at least until we know who was targeting Vegas and why. » was stating Porsche firmly.
« Excuse me khun. Your guest woke up. » announced the bodyguard next to Rain.
« Ah yes. Kinn allow me to introduce the boy who saved Vegas's ass yesterday. » exclaimed Porsche as he joined Rain who had timidly stepped in the garden.
As Rain was about to greet Porsche, the man who had his back turned stood up.
« Rain ?! »
« P'Pai ?! »
