A Reasonable Explanation

Summary:

Waking up for practice, heading off to class and hanging out with friends, that was normal life for Kagiura. Nothing out of the ordinary!

…unless it involved conversations about the red markings on his back.

Notes:

Sup, it’s me. So the vibes are weird and don’t want me to finish my longer wips. But instead, they get inspired by doujins I read at 2am and tell me to write something in almost one sitting.

Why does it do that? I have no idea, but I gotta listen to them regardless! Hope you enjoy ✨

Work Text:

Kagiura liked to think he had an ordinary school life.

It would start off with him waking up to his phone’s alarm, reminding him that he had morning practice. From there, the school day started off like any other day.

If there was time left before class started, he and Niibashi would chat about whatever was up in their lives until the teacher arrived. Things continue on like normal, taking notes for upcoming exams and trying not to doze off while doing it. Sometimes the teacher would notice and scold him for it, which earned a disappointed head shake from Niibashi.

Soon it would be lunch time, more talking with Niibashi, then straight back to work. The day would end with him going to practice again and heading back to the dorms to rest up for the next day. An ordinary life for a third year high school student if you ask Kagiura.

…Which also included the awkward conversations he would occasionally have with his friend and teammate.

“Scratches again, Kagiura?”

Kagiura turned his gaze towards a concerned Shirahama, who stood behind him and examined the contexts of his back.

“This is like, what, the third time this has happened? What’s going on?”

Quickly putting on his jersey to hide the evidence, Kagiura replied. “I already told you multiple times, my sister owns a cat and it’s very…playful towards me.”

Shirahama raised a brow at that. “Again with the playful cat excuse? I’m starting to think otherwise.”

Kagiura glared at him. “What? Do you not believe me?”

“It’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s just…” Shirahama glanced at Kagiura’s back once more before replying. “I don’t think this is normal cat behavior.”

“Do you own a cat?”

“Well, no, but-“

“Then how would you know? Are you suddenly an expert on the types of scratches cat leave behind on people?”

“Whoa, attitude much?” Shirahama raised his hands in defense. “I can’t be worried about my friend who’s back looks like it had better days?”

Kagiura rolled his eyes, turning back to his locker. “I’m not saying you can’t be concerned. It's just getting annoying being asked the same question over and over again when I already told you how I got these scratches.”

Shirahama removed his own shirt and tossed it with no care into his locker. “Still, I’m wondering how the hell this keeps happening. You’d think your sister would see the problem and do something about it, but apparently not.”

Kagiura shrugged. My sister doesn’t want to trim her cat’s nails in fear of hurting her ‘precious baby.’ Can’t really argue with that.”

“Can’t she just take it to the vet and let them do it instead?”

Closing his locker with more focus than needed, Kagiura stepped away. “Listen, I don’t know what goes on in my sister’s head when it comes to her cat. The point is, that cat likes climbing on my back and leaving scratches behind. Is that so hard to understand?”

Kagiura started regretting what he said when an awkward silence fell between them. He didn’t mean to snap at his friend like that, but it was getting on his nerves how Shirahama kept trying to push more information out of him. Why couldn’t he accept his excuse and leave it at that? Didn’t he learn the saying “Curiously killed the cat?”

Sensing the tension getting worse, Kagiura was about to apologize until Shirahama interrupted him.

“Whatever you say,” Putting on his own jersey, Shirahama closed his locker. “I’m going on ahead, you coming?”

Kagiura gulped, not sure on how to react to the calm response given to him. “Ah, i-in a minute. I need to check something…”

Shirahama nodded and patted him on the shoulder. “Don’t take too long.” And with that, he was out of the locker room.

Kagiura stood still for a few seconds before groaning loudly. “That was way too close…”

Truth be told, Shirahama was right, a cat didn’t cause the battle scars present on his back. Well, the cause behind it did have cat-like behaviors to him, but that wasn’t the point.

The point was, Shirahama was getting dangerously close to finding out the truth, and that terrified Kagiura. If he found out, then Shirahama wouldn’t let him live it down for the rest of his life. Sure, Niibashi could probably stop the teasing (the only person who can stand Shirahama’s nonsense, to which Kagiura still wonders how), but he knew that would only last for so long.

He needed to come up with a new excuse, and needed one fast. Or else…things will escalate for the worse. Not wanting to put another thought into it, Kagiura leaned against his locker and sighed.

My sister owns a cat and it’s very…playful towards me.

“Playful cat, huh?” Kagiura snorted, closing his eyes and leaning more against the locker. “I’d say…”

If there were any sounds that had Kagiura over the moon, it would be the breathless moans of desire coming from the person he loved so deeply.

“Ngh…K-Kagi-kun…”

Nails dug into Kagiura’s back, making him release a satisfying grunt.

“M-Mo-“

Before his lover could finish that line, Kagiura grabbed both of his legs, throwing them over his shoulder and pushed forward. That rewarded him with a loud gasp, alongside a tighter grip on his back.

“Like that?”

In response, legs wrapped around his waist, pushing him deeper into that tight, addicting heat.

“Good,” Kagiura looked down at the masterpiece he created; Messy blonde hair tousled against the pillow, forehead covered in sweat, and love bites all over. It only made him want to add more, so he did just that. Increasing the pace of his thrusts, he leaned down to suck on the skin that hasn't yet been claimed.

“The way you clench around me the more I move,” Kagiura purred, letting go of the newly marked area. “And the way you moan out my name as I do it.” Another sharp thrust ensued, followed by a breathless cry of his name.

“It makes me go wild.”

The nails that dug into him earlier now trailed down his back, holding on for dear life as Kagiura kept going faster and faster. He knew it would be a pain to hide those long red long marks, but he didn’t care. Like the love marks he left on him, those were his lover’s work of art.

Something he was proud to be wearing.

“The hell are you smiling about?”

Never had Kagiura opened his eyes so fast before. In front of him was Shirahama, staring at him with a puzzled expression.

“W-What the? I thought you were at-“

“I came back to grab something, why are you still here?”

Kagiura stumbled on his feet, grabbing his needed items from the locker. “I got distracted.”

“By what?”

Kagiura blushed. “Stuff, now if you’ll excuse me.“  He rushed out of the locker room, not looking back at his confused friend. Who was just shaking his head at Kagiura’s weird behavior.

Once he was out of earshot from Shirahama, Kagiura smacked his forehead, quietly cursing underneath his breath. I’m a doomed man.

Yup, an ordinary school life indeed.

Notes:

Welp, hopefully Kagiura comes up with a better excuse for his “back problem.” Or else, he got some explaining to do.

Thank you for reading and hopefully the vibes will finally cooperate with me and I can finish my longer fic wips!

Have a great day 🫶🏼
