Work Text:
Yuqi always woke up first.
Rolling out of bed, she glances at the woman fast asleep beside her, her hands thrown towards the back of her pillow, the blanket completely twisted from sleep and draped messily over her bare stomach. She watches as her chest heaves up and down slowly, her eyebrows starting to furrow from the growing sunlight that entered from the window.
She smiles fondly, stepping away from the bed to close the blinds. The room dims quickly, and she was sure to look back to check if her face had relaxed now.
To her surprise, the woman sleeping just now was staring directly back at her, eyes open and wide awake.
"Oh," Yuqi gulps, freezing in place, not knowing why the sight of that made her a bit nervous, "You're awake."
Arlecchino lifts herself up from the bed, letting out a soft yawn. She sits up slowly and lowers the blanket, discarding it to the side.
"I've been awake." She stands up from the bed, rubbing her eyes.
Yuqi blushes softly in embarrassment when she realizes that Arlecchino might have been awake when she was staring at her sleep, and the thought of her probably knowing that killed her with embarrassment.
"...Oh," she repeats reluctantly, "I... For how long?"
The woman stares at her for a whole five seconds.
"...Maybe about ten minutes." Arlecchino then approaches her, ruffling her own hair softly and parting the uncoordinated strands of white and black away from her face. "Why do you ask?"
"Nothing." Yuqi places her hands together, smiling as she watches her walk closer, "Just asking."
Arlecchino stops right in front of her, placing a hand on her hip. She lowers her gaze and looks up at her through her lashes, giving her a doubtful expression. The corner of her lips twitch into a teasing smile. "Why are you nervous?"
Yuqi exhales sharply. Of course, she couldn't possibly hide her embarrassment from her. She knew exactly how to read her. She could always tell. Too well, that it was almost irritating.
But Yuqi wasn't necessarily good at acting, either.
"Uh," she looks to the side, rubbing her nape nervously as she felt something in her stomach when she looked at her like that, "What do you mean?"
Arlecchino simply chuckles. "If this is about watching me sleeping, then I'm afraid I don't really see the need to be embarrassed about admiring your wife on your bed."
Yuqi blushes insanely hard at that, closing her eyes shut in defeat.
"...I hate you."
Arlecchino laughs heartily, her eyes still tired, and her voice raspy and low. She comes closer to her and softly wraps her arms around her waist, resting her chin on Yuqi's shoulder.
"Take that back."
"No." Yuqi responds quickly, subconsciously bringing her hands up to hug her back, "Stop teasing me."
Arlecchino sighs, "Fine. But I really don't get why you're embarrassed. There's nothing wrong with what you did."
Yuqi groans, "You weren't supposed to be aware, that's the thing."
"What do you want me to do about it now?" Arlecchino lifts her head up to look at her pouting wife, "Do you want me to go back to sleep so you can admire me?"
Yuqi punches her playfully. "Stop."
"Okay." Arlecchino slowly plants a soft kiss on her forehead, "I'm sorry."
Yuqi looks down, processing her emotions for a moment. She pulls Arlecchino closer, hugging her tighter.
"Cook me breakfast."
Arlecchino chuckles.
"Toast?"
Yuqi shakes her head, her lips forming into a dissatisfied line. "No."
"What?" Arlecchino rakes Yuqi's hair softly.
"Eggs."
"And?"
"You."
Arlecchino cringes.
