-You know you’re gonna see him again eventually, right?-Declan said on the phone
-I know-Mason said back- Hopefully eventually is very far away
-We play each other on the fourth matchday, right?- Declan said back
-Ugh Dec, I told you to stop mentioning that-Mason responded frustrated- I told you I’m pretending that’s not happening
-Ok, Mase, if you say so…
Mason had broken up with Kai after the two players left Chelsea over the summer. Even though Mason was the one who broke up with Kai, there wasn’t a day where he hadn’t thought about his decision. He didn’t know if he had made the right decision. He loved Kai like he had never loved before. But long distance and the lack of honesty had been a deal breaker for Mase.
-I just don’t know how will I ever love again, Dec- Mason said on the phone, holding back tears
-Mase, I know I’m not a love doctor or anything like that, but I promise that everything will get better with time-Declan said trying to cheer up his best friend
-Yeah, I guess so-Mason said back quietly-I really hope your right, Deccers

Time, indeed, did not make it better. Mason couldn’t help but think of Kai and their relationship all the time. It was as if the more time passed, the more Mason realized how big of a mistake he had made.
He regretted breaking up with Kai. He regretted everything that led to him crying, drunk, feeling all alone in a random bar in London. In the end, he regretted ever meeting Kai.
-Oh, why-Mason kept saying to himself- Did I look at those eyes?
Those green eyes that ran so deep. Those eyes that made him lose himself. Somehow he was even more lost without them.
-Oh I’m losing my mind-Mason said out loud, even though he was in a bar with some strangers. He really couldn’t take this anymore.
Mason grabbed his phone, and without even thinking twice, called Kai. They hadn’t talked in weeks, and it seemed like Mason hit a new low.
The phone rang long before someone picked up.
-Hello?
Mason froze for a second. That voice…
-Havy?-Mason said, sounding drunk
There was a long pause. Or at least that’s what Mason felt like.
-Mason?-Kai asked confused
-I miss you so much, Havy-Mason said out loud, just as he’s been doing all night long
-Are you drunk?-Havertz asked, starting to hear some background music being played on the other side of the call
-I dunno- That was all Mason could think of at that time. Mason could hear Kai's face slap through the phone.
-Mason, listen to me, where are you?-Kai sounded worried- Are you alone?
-I’m in London-Mason answered
-In London where?-Kai asked back
-I dunno-Mason replied-A bar?
There was a short silence.
-I thought that because you were injured you wouldn’t travel with the team-Kai said back in a low tone
-I thought so too-Mase said back- But I wanted to see you Havy
And Kai wasn’t sure how to react to all this information. He didn’t expect Mason to call him, or to even be in London. Kai thought he was going to avoid this conversation. But maybe this was an opportunity for him to make things right,
-In what hotel are you guys staying-Kai said out of nowhere
-Why, are you gonna come see me Havy?-Mason said giggling
-You should be sleeping Mason, it’s almost midnight
-Aren’t you the one that has a game tomorrow tho?-Mason hit him back with a question. How was he thinking so reasonably while being drunk?
-Well you were the one that woke me up with a call, so I’m going there. Send me your location now-Havertz ordered and hung up the phone.

Kai arrived at a random bar that his phone took him to. He saw the name and realized it was a gay bar. Mason really pushed it this time. He entered the place and started to search for his British friend, he must be sitting here somewhere…
And there he was, body all over the bar, a few empty drinks alongside him. There was also a random guy next to him, trying to flirt with a drunk Mase. That infuriated Kai. How dare someone talk to Mase that way? He went there and pushed the guy away from his former boyfriend.
-Get the fuck away from him-Kai said while staring at the guy to death-And never get close to him ever again
Kai heard some giggles behind him, realizing Mason found that scene funny somehow.
-You look so cute when you’re mad, Havy-Mason said smiling
Kai rolled his eyes, he couldn’t believe Mason was just laughing at all of this. Kai was here to save his ass from doing something way too stupid, and he was just laughing about it.
-Let’s just get out of here Mount-Kai said seriously
He left some money on the bar and grabbed Mason’s arm. He dragged him out of the place as quickly as possible, trying to avoid the looks of everyone there. Somehow, Mason couldn’t stop laughing all the way out of there. Apparently, he enjoyed being dragged or something.
-Havy is grabbing my arm-Mason said while laughing. This guy is truly unbelievable.
They got in Kai’s car safely, and the German started to drive.
-You smell so good-Mason said out of nowhere- Did you get perfumed to come and get me, Havy? You’re such a flirt hahaha
And Kai’s face got a red. Drunk Mason was so annoying. I mean he was actually telling the truth, but he was still very much annoying.
-What’s the problem, Havy, do I still make you nervous?-Mason asked again. He really couldn’t shut up.
-Can’t you just shut up for a minute, Mason?-Kai answered back, tired of Mason’s nonsense
-Uuuh, how about you make me-Mason said back while making a kissing face.
Kai rolled his eyes once again. He couldn’t wait to get home.
-Where are we going?-Mason asked again
-We are going to my place-Kai answered
-Uuuh, and what are we going to do there-Mason said while raising his eyebrows, trying to look flirty
-Sleep-Kai answered directly
And Mason got all sad. He even looked like he was about to cry. Why are drunk people like this?
-So-Kai decided to speak this time- Why did you decide to leave Chelsea?
There was a short pause before Mason answered. His face got all sad, Kai felt guilty for asking that now.
-Cause I was too close to you-He finally answered without even looking at him
And that hit Kai right in his heart. Even though Kai had left Chelsea, he was still living in London. And now that seemed to be the reason for Mason to leave for Manchester.
-But now I’m just too scared to even like anyone-Mason continued- Cause what if they do me like you did, Havy
And Kai just accelerated and tried to get home as quickly as possible. He didn’t want to hear Mason’s complaints anymore. It hit differently when it wasn’t his mind overthinking, but Mason himself saying it.
-Every day you’re gone is the loneliest day of my life, Havy-Mason said as he started to cry
-Mason, please don’t cry-Kai said as he was now holding back tears too
-Now that my love has left, how do I love again, Havy?- Mason said, before crying himself to sleep
Kai cried the remaining part of the drive home, as he thought about everything that Mason just confessed to him. He parked his car, grabbed Mason, and carried him all the way to his bed.
Mason slept all night, while Kai regretted every decision he had ever made. How has he turned the guy he has loved the most into such a mess?
