Chapter Text
It’s cold. Like it always is. The air is thin but not suffocating. She can feel her surroundings which haven’t changed over the last eighteen years that she’s been alone. At least in this cold cage anyway. It’s unlike any metal she’s ever seen or touched. It’s more like a marble toxin with oozing designs on it. In conclusion, the cage is made out of pure uranium and a hint of tungsten.
As she breathes, her eyes adjust to the familiar surroundings, her body weakly sitting up and causing the cage to gently rock. Though she’s used to the tightness of it, the closeness of the bars make her feel sick.
Outside of her confines is Theyshem, a large mutant half spider and snake(her head being the snake, and her lower body the spider). Theyshem hovered over their keeping’s of crystals and mystic items, creating and forming silk webs to cover their treasures.
Theyshem eventually glanced up upon feeling someone’s eyes burn into them from afar. Theyshem narrowed their six red eyes, giving their caged bird a simple glance.
“So you’ve awakened, Selene.” Their voice booms with a wavering sound of both snake and venom.
“I’ve made your favorite, just as you like it.” They say, chuckling to themselves as if they seem to be telling an unfunny joke. The breath is forced.
Selene only blinks once. Twice, meekly crawling towards the walls of the hanging cage, placing her white hands, pale as the moon, along the bars of the cage to glance down. Then she looks back up, only to be met with Theyshem’s large face, their mouth spreading wide enough to show their fangs and flaunt their toxic breath. She doesn’t flinch.
“Here. Take it.” They hiss. “I think that this early present will do as usual, no?” Theyshem says in a condescending tone, raising a navy leg to slip a hunk of green and black gunk through the bars and onto the floor with a loud clunk. The large pile steams out blue gas.
Selene only stares at Theyshem for a moment until they turn away from her and head back to their pile of treasure, signaling that Selene has the okay to eat. To which she does with much savoring.
Her starving stomach doesn’t make much noise, though it’s as much noise that she’ll ever make. Her lips don’t move much, only to cough or yawn, or occasionally sneeze. This time, Selene gasps at the sudden noise that comes from near the entrance of the hollow red cave. Voices.
Theyshem snaps their head at the ruckus, letting out a hiss. “In trudersss .” Is what they mumble before tapping over to Selene. They narrow their six red eyes at the creature, leaning in real close against the uranium cage .
“You know the rules.” Theyshem whispers, to which Selene responds in a silent promise with slow blinking of the eyes. Theyshem grunts in approval.
“Good. Then I will be back shortly. Seems dinner is coming early tonight.” With that, Theyshem scurries away, their large body brushing against the cage as they crawl out and into the darkness.
Minutes pass and it’s quiet in the small lair of Theyshem. Selene sits inside the cage alone, her back against the bars with her legs outstretched and spread below her. Her thin and scruffy nightgown dress was now tight against her growing body. Selene just stared at the bottom of the cage in silence, occasionally glancing back towards the entrance of the cave as she heard sounds of battle, awaiting Theyshem’s return.
However, suddenly there was a loud thud as if something had fallen and wouldn’t get up. It shook the entire cave and the cage Selene resided in. Then it became quiet for a while, and curiosity piqued inside Selene.
She glanced over towards the entrance of the cave, suddenly hearing light but quick footsteps. She pressed her face against the bars as if she could get a closer look from way up high to see who was approaching.
“Hmm.. my readings are telling me it should be around here somewhere ..” a voice echoes from the darkness. Male. Unfamiliar to Selene. The presence is still not able to be seen, but they are approaching. They seem to be looking for something.
From the darkness comes a figure with green skin, three fingers on each hand and a purple mask covered by absurd goggles. His skin is littered with purple designs and he’s fairly tall. He seems to be examining all over the red gush that are the walls of this place, never once looking up and finding Selene.
“Aha! Eurika!” He suddenly protests. “Behold! All the magnificent mystical properties!” He shouts to himself, or so he thinks, with high enthusiasm as his arms shoot up. That’s when the figure runs from below Selene and towards Theyshem’s stash. From behind, all Selene can see is their purple back which looks like a rock, but looking back on it, Selene concludes that it’s a shell. Some type of shell armor covering his original shell.
From the purple shell comes a multitude of robot arms that start to push aside items, grabbing and examining things up close before throwing them aside as if that’s not what he‘s looking for.
Turtle? Is the first thought that comes to Selene’s mind. Theyshem has mentioned turtles once or twice before, Selene remembers that. However they weren’t positive words, so he must be an intruder.
“Those pesky tortuga’s must be stopped. Trying to steal from me isn’t an easy task..” Selene remembers how angry Theyshem was that night, hurrying to cover their items after an attack from these turtles. Was this the same turtle from that attack? Selene couldn’t remember if so. If they were an enemy of Theyshem, maybe they’d help Selene get out of here.
“No… nope.. Nada! Damnit. Not a single ounce of uranium… just shards of mystic power, mystic magic in glass.. mystic-“ the turtle mutant goes off on a mumbling list on how many mystic items there are. However, he seems to be grabbing a few as he’s talking.
“Muah! At long last.. a fragment- oh wait this isn’t even uranium! Impatient groan! ” He grumbles loudly, chucking the piece of rock across the room with a grunt before glancing around with his goggles, still present over his eyes. Finally, he looks up and Selene yanks her head away from his view. He gasps over dramatically.
“ Holy- mother of uranium! ” He cries, a buzzing sound erupts and out of curiosity, Selene peeks her eyes out to see him getting closer, rising.
He’s flying…? With some type of drone looking thing attached to his shell?
“Now no one will be able to- Ah! Oh banana pancakes! ” He yelps in surprise, jerking back with a mouth ajar upon finally seeing Selene. She flimsily staggers back in her cage, her back hitting the bars as her eyes widen in fear. The turtle must be surprised because he slides his goggles up, revealing his wide eyes.
“ My, my ..” he whispers in awe, his eyes lingering on her figure which makes her squirm in discomfort. His mouth slowly forms a smile of discovery.
“You.. look like.. a selene.. ” he whispers, now putting his fingers under his chin in thought. Selene tilts her head upon hearing him say her name, her eyebrows furrowing. He slowly floats towards the cage, placing his three fingers onto the bars of the cage.
“Can you understand me?” He asks to which Selene frowns and leans her face forwards in curiosity, unresponsive. The turtle sighs.
“Guess that’s a no..” he mumbles, eyebrows furrowed to which he reaches his hand back to grab a type of machine, smothered in purple shades and making Selene cock her head to the side once more. The turtle’s eyes flicker towards Selene as she crawls towards him in pure curiosity, her silver gray eyes widening as she reaches one of her hands between the bars, trying to reach out to him. The turtle loads a blue serum into the machine, shaped like a gun with a blue light.
“ Sigh. Don’t take this personally, selene.” He starts, not even realizing that he’s saying her name when identifying her. “But now that I’ve found you , uranium is the last thing on my mind..” he murmurs, cocking back the top part of the machine which makes a loud crack. Selene stares at the machine for a moment, its shape bringing back flashbacks that she’d rather not remember.
Gun.
Selene gasps and looks up at the turtle with wide eyes, frowning. She thought that this mutant turtle would save her, bring her out of the cage she’s been in for eighteen years. Guess that’s the naïveté talking.
She had a wave of hope swell within her chest at the sight of him, but now with the tip of a gun propped to her shoulder, that hope disperses without a trace, replaced with fear that makes her numb with shock. She slowly shakes her head at him, as if begging him not to hurt her.
“This’ll only hurt for a moment.” He says gently, smiling warmly at her as if trying to comfort her. She reaches her hand out farther, her fingers barely touching the front of his plastron. This action only makes him pull the trigger, injecting the serum into her bloodstream.
Selene whimpers at the sudden pain. She can feel the coolness of whatever it was he’s put inside her. It makes her body go limp and tingly with numbness, making her unresponsive. Whatever this was worked fast . Soon her face falls right down to the bottom of the cage, the last thing she sees is the shape of the gun before her eyes shut down.
———————
Her ears are ringing. She can hardly hear anything or feel anything. It’s black all around and Selene can’t detect a thing. She can’t feel her fingers or see them. What she can feel is how cold the inside and outside of her body is. It seems that this serum still lingers inside her body. Her heart is pounding fast in fear.
“- lo ?” She can hear a voice amidst the ringing, her body still lingering in its shock, unable to move. Suddenly her body falls back at a violent shake, making her land on her side and her back hitting something cool and hard. The shape and figure of it is all too familiar to Selene. Bars.
A cage.
She just lays, trying to figure out why her head is so fuzzy. The feeling isn’t unfamiliar. Something similar happened to her around twenty years ago. She assumes that this is why she should never trust anyone. She can only blame herself for having hope in a savior.
Selene feels her nerves and muscle coming back to her, her arm slowly lifting up to prop her hand onto the ground of the cage.
“Hey.” Someone whispers, low and quiet. All at once everything comes back to Selene, her senses, her mind clears, and she snaps her head to the direction of the voice, her eyes firmly landing on yet another green figure.
He’s different, shorter than the last one she’s seen. He wears an orange mask and stickers are on the front of his plastron. There’s vibrant colors of paint on certain parts of his body, like pastel blue, orange and pink splotches. Most of them were on his arms and wrists, but smaller bubbles of color could be seen on his shoulders too.
His face carries emotion of concern. His hands are held up to his chest, his palms facing her.
“Hey.” He says again, this time more gentle as he slowly smiles. Selene sits up fully now, her chest heaving up and down as she breathes fast. Her eyes dart all around her, noticing purple lights, machines and flashing buttons. There are machines and weaponry that are fully technical.
There’s a lot of tech. A lot of noise. A lot of flashing lights.
But she also notices the cage she’s in, sitting atop a glowing blue table. It’s not the same one, so she’s been taken out of her original one. This one is so much smaller. The bars confine her and in a strictly tight space. It only makes her stomach ache more. Her skin crawls .
At least in the other cage she could crawl around in. This one is only meant for sitting and curling up into a ball on her side. You couldn’t even fit another person inside.
Her surroundings were really unfamiliar, and the stench in this place made her scrunch up her nose as nausea flooded inside her body.
Selene swallowed, her mouth dry as she finally looked back at the turtle in front of her cage, still holding his hands up in a surrendering motion. However she didn’t trust that at all, given how the other turtle smiled at her, injected something inside of her and kidnapped her like the rest of the monsters and people did with her.
“I won’t hurt you.” He says softly as if reading her mind, making Selene glare at him to show him that she didn’t trust him. She jerks back when he takes a step forwards, making the cage rattle and slip back. She gasps when her back hits a surface, the cage flipping off the table and landing on its side. Her hands reach to the side bars, gripping them tightly as if they’ll fall in on her. The smaller turtle rushes over, muttering a curse at the loud noise.
“Hey hey, you okay?” He asks, grunting as he lifts the cage back upright, making Selene jerk forwards and sit up straight again. The turtle is now right next to her, crouching down onto his knees to look into her eyes.
The irony of the question. Is Selene ever okay?
She turns her head away, scooting away from the turtle and bringing her knees up to her chest. Her back aches from the fall and Selene is starting to get a headache now too. The orange masked turtle frowns, folding his legs as he sits cross legged before the cage.
“I’m Michelangelo,” He starts. “but you can call me Mikey or Angelo if you prefer.” He offers with a gentle smile, slipping his three fingers through the cracks of the bars, outstretched for her to take. Selene inches away from his hand(as much as she can in the tight space anyway), staring at it intently before looking up into his warm eyes.
Suddenly the claustrophobic feeling doesn’t hurt so much anymore when it feels like someone else is with you. Mikey smiles wider, extending his hand out further for her.
“What’s your name?” He asks, his hand continuing to linger in the air. Selene furrows her eyebrows, and slowly brings up one of her hands to poke Mikey’s hand, quickly and cautiously before snatching her hand away as if he burns. He chuckles.
“Never seen a mutant turtle before or something?” He asks, his large smile never fading. It makes Selene feel not only nervous but nauseous. An uneasy feeling washes over her, but not for long. She’s curious.
She wonders if he’ll hurt her too, her instincts are warning her of that. Yet at the same time, if he wanted to wouldn’t he have already ? Nevertheless, she brings up her pale moon hand again and grips Mikey’s own, letting her other hand come up to play and touch his green skin. The tips of her fingers caress his partly calloused hand. She notices small scars plastered on his skin.
Her touch is gentle yet curious as she turns his hand to observe his three fingers. She looks up at him, his face close to the bars. As fear still cautiously lurks in her veins, she leans forwards. Then suddenly Mikey’s smile shortens for a moment as Selene reaches out to touch his face.
Her palm is on his cheek, her silver eyes staring into his own. She drags her nails to his mask, tracing its abused fabric with gentle hands. Now Mikey’s smiling gently, letting out a breathy chuckle at her curiosity.
“I’ll take that as a no. You don’t seem to talk, do you know how to?” Mikey inquires, his face keeping the warmness to it. Selene blinks twice, looking away before slowly shaking her head no. Mikey’s eyes widen.
“But.. you can understand me?” He asks, sounding almost excited. Selene only stares this time, unsure of what to do. Still afraid he might hurt her, she retracts her hand from his face, his warmth coming back to her on her hand. She studies her hand, poking it due to the warmth of it. Then she looks back at him for a moment, squirming in her cage.
Mikey sighs. “Right.. you don’t like cages do you?” He asks with a frown, tilting his head. Selene perks up and shakes her head rapidly, fiddling with her fingers.
“Claustrophobic eh?” He looks down, seeming defeated, his shoulders sagging.
“I’m sorry.” He says quietly, to which Selene makes a weird face.
‘I’m sorry. ’ The words repeat in her mind. She’s heard them before. Many times actually, but never understood what they meant. What did they mean?
Selene brings her face back up to the bars, her shaking hands gripping the ice cold metal. Mikey looks back up, suddenly observing her moon blue hair, which is curly and long with streaks of light gray. Those are the darkest color on her body altogether, excluding the black freckles on her face. Her lips are a pale pink, her skin a pale gray. Like the moon.
Her clothes are battered and torn, falling apart on her body which is surprisingly not thin skin and bone. The nightgown goes down to her thighs, tight with holes, as if this is the only piece of clothing she’s ever worn in her life since birth. Her body has overgrown it completely.
“I want to get you out, but I’m not sure Donnie would be very happy with that.” He says with an awkward laugh. Selene only blinks. “I’m actually not even supposed to be in here, but why does that even matter ? I’m twenty - one , not a little kid anymore.” He grumbles, pouting. The pout soon turns into a frown as he stares down at the ground in thought. There seems to be a deeper meaning to his words, but they fly in and right out of Selene’s ears.
Selene feels a sense of dread and that makes her sad. His words seem to get to her in a way, making her begin to trust him. He has a kind heart. Selene can tell already.
She grunts, making Mikey look up. She sits back on the heels of her feet, her knees folded back. She smiles, small but welcoming as Mikey raises a brow in curiosity. Selene tilts her head to the side and then her skin darkens to a green color, her body morphing. A shell pops up behind her, stickers on the front of the plastron that sticks out now. The orange mask that covers her eyes are the exact same as Michelangelo’s. Even the paint that litters his skin is a replica, even though Selene has no clue what they mean or why they’re there. Mikey’s eyes widen in surprise, his mouth falling open.
It’s like looking into a mirror! Is what he thinks.
“Did you just-“ he says, suddenly letting out a breath of surprise. “ Whoa .” He says, leaning forwards to get a better look at her. “You look exactly like me!” He says, the realization suddenly dawning on him.
“You can— shapeshift?” He asks, pointing with a finger. Selene only nods, keeping her small smile on her face, which is technically Michelangelo but you get the point.
“Ohmigosh that’s literally so cool!” He says, bringing his hand out to touch her skin in curiosity. She gasps at the sudden movement and stumbles back, hitting her back against the bars at his fast motion. Just like that, the replica of Mikey falls, Selene’s original form returning as she furrows her brows at him.
“Oh.” Mikey says, noticing his mistake. He chuckles, ashamed. “Ah— I uh... Got too excited you know?” He says, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I wasn’t going to hurt you. Promise.” He states smiling back at her. After noticing the sudden change in her breathing, he frowns.
“You know, Donnie’s the same way. He doesn’t like physical touch either so.. I get that.” He says. “Next time I’ll ask.” Now he’s looking away. “I have a uh.. knack for jumping onto other people with affection. It’s mostly with people I treasure most, but you get it right?” He says, looking back up at her. Again she blinks, averting his gaze now.
“Argh.. sorry.” He says again.
There’s that word again.
Selene furrows her brows and suddenly points at him, wanting to know what that word meant. Mikey perks up, raising a brow in confusion.
“What?” He says, making Selene point at him with more urgent passion. Mikey giggles, shaking his head.
“What is it?” Now he’s looking down at himself, searching for what she’s pointing at. Selene slowly retracts her fingers, about to give up before pouting in thought.
“Is there something on me?” He asks, still seeming to have his head down and looking.
“S..” Mikey looks up at the sudden sound of the consonant, coming not from him but her. He furrows his eyebrows, his eyes rounding. Selene seems to be struggling, her lips mostly making raspberries as her tongue sticks out. She’s trying to speak but doesn’t know how to.
“Sss.. So.. so… ” she stutters, making Mikey giggle which causes her to stop. She looks up, feeling a sudden flame come to her cheeks. She pouts and crosses her arms, making a ‘ hmph! ’ sound.
“S- Sorry, I just can’t seem to-“
There it is again!
Selene points at him harshly, making her cage move and him flinch back. He stops talking. His eyes widen again and it’s quiet.
“Uhh.. what?” Selene groans, sighing.
“So.. sor… sore..”
“What are you trying to say?” Mikey questions, tilting his head to the side.
“Say?” Selene repeats. Mikey nods.
“Yeah!” He prompts, giving her an encouraging smile. “Words are hard. Trust me, I know . Well actually, it was more harder for Leo than me. When we were younger, he struggled the most with words, but-“ he stops upon realizing that she just looks confused.
He just shakes his head, giving Selene a nervous smile. “N- Nevermind.” He waves his hand in a dismissive manner. “That doesn’t matter. I believe in you.” He says, giving her a wink to which she doesn’t understand.
“Go on, try again.” He encourages. Selene slowly nods, putting fingers under her chin, pondering.
Sorry. So.. So.. Sore.. Sorey.. Sorey? Sorey!
Suddenly Selene perks up, smiling as she shouts out abruptly. “Sorey!” She says, looking confident. Though her confidence diminishes when Mikey only looks confused instead. She frowns.
“Did you mean.. sorry ?” Selene gasps and nods, pointing at him again.
“ Ohhh .. wait, sorry ? For what?” He says, scooting closer to her cage, listening. Selene tilts her head. She just wants to know what it means. She shakes her head to try and tell him that’s not what she means.
“Huh?”
“ Sorey! ” She repeats to which Mikey flinches.
“Okay okay, I get it, you’re sorry, but-“
“No!” She interrupts him, taking him aback. He quickly smiles.
“You learn quickly.” He states. Selene only stares.
“So.. you’re saying ‘ sorry, ’ but you don’t mean it?” He says, raising a brow as if trying to figure out what she means. Selene sighs, pouting.
It does not seem like they’re going to get anywhere.
Selene shakes her head no, her shoulders sagging. “No… no.” She stutters. “ Sorry .” She says, this time saying it right. Mikey compliments her for it but then sighs, looking as if he’s pondering now.
“Hmm.. if you’re not sorry, I’m guessing it’s because you don’t know what it means right? So if you don’t understand it, then-“ Selene suddenly nods, “Sorry sorry!” She says in an excited tone, not sure what else to say. Mikey chuckles.
“Is that it? You don’t know what it means?” Selene simply nods, smiling at his understanding.
“Ah, sorry is said by people who-“ suddenly Mikey stops, his body stiffening.
“Oh crap ..” he whispers, suddenly trying to lift the cage back up onto the table, startling Selene. She then realizes why by hearing sudden footsteps approach the two.
A familiar voice is humming in the hallway.
Mikey grunts after finally putting the cage back onto the glowing blue table. Selene looks confused, but also begins to panic. Why is he putting her back?
Mikey mumbles to himself, though Selene cannot hear. Finally, he looks at Selene and bites his lip. Her eyes widen when she smells his blood.
As Mikey walks to the other side of the table, fear strikes Selene and she impulsively grabs Michelangelo’s arm, making him flinch.
When he looks down and into her eyes, he not only can see it, but sense her fear. Mikey frowns, his face looking glum.
“I’ll talk to him. Promise.” He whispers, knowing that Selene probably doesn’t know the full meaning of his words, but tugs her fingers off his arm anyway.
“I’m going to get you out of here.” He promises. She rocks in the cage, making loud noises as she tries to get out, tries to tell him to come back and-
Don’t leave her.
Don’t leave me. Alone.
Just like that, the hyperventilation starts again, and this time tears come with it. As Mikey nears the end of the table, the turtle in a purple mask comes into the room, his figure and humming coming to a complete stop upon spotting Mikey.
Michaelangelo tucks a hand behind his back and waves to his brother with the other, smiling. The purple turtle eyes him skeptically.
“What are you doing in here, Mikey?”
“I was curious to see what you brought, so I came to check it out!” He says cheerfully.
“Hm. You didn’t touch anything did you?” At this Mikey pouts.
“Oh c’mon Donnie, you really think that your younger brother would really do such a thing?” The turtle named Donnie rolls his eyes, shaking his head.
“Just get out, I’ve got some testing to do.”
“Can I watch?” The sudden tone and quickness of the question catches Donnie off guard. He raises a thick brow.
“Since when have you been interested in my work?” He asks, walking over to the table now, towards a trembling Selene. Both the turtles notice, but seem to play dumb. Donnie isn’t stupid, noticing the way Michangelo’s eyes flicker over to Selene for a split second.
“Since uh.. right now!” Mikey claims, standing up tall. “I can help .”
“Ah huh..” Donnie says, slowly crossing his arms. “Totally not suspicious at all and in any way.. buuut..” Donnie shrugs, suddenly smiling and the tension in the room disperses.
“ As my assistant , you’ll-!”
“ Assistant?? Why can’t-“
“Ah ah ah! Nonsense. As I am the master of intelligence, and I have a higher IQ than the rest of you-“ Donatello rambles on and Mikey pouts, slouching and partially drowning out Donatello’s boring instructions.
Mikey eventually looks over towards Selene, who’s eyes have not left his figure the entire time. She looks scared, no, frightened, terrified, any word that means “ greater fear ”.
“Say, Donnie?” Mikey interrupts, causing Donatello to scowl.
“What’s uh.. this right here?” He asks nervously, pointing over to Selene. At this, Donatello smirks.
“Ahh, this my dear brother is a selene.” He says, slowly walking over to the cage. Selene backs away to the other side of the cage, her back hitting the bars once more. She winces this time. Her back feels sore.
“What’s a.. selene ?” Mikey questions, walking back towards the cage as well.
Donatello frowns. “I’m getting to that. ” He grumbles, rubbing his temples. At this, Donatello stands up taller, tilting his chin up as he strikes a nerdy pose with a hand on his hip.
“Selene, meaning ‘the moon’, is a paradoxical creature born from the rising of the moon and the astronomical night sky. She is created by the light of the moon and gravity. Also known as the moon skies child. Upon the moon rising at a specific time on a specific angle on a small lake, hence! The mysterious creature is born! Their capabilities consist of shapeshifting, mind transfer, and the most important one: mineral creation.” Donatello says, stimming happily as a large and excited smile appears on his face.
Selene feels her body go cold. Is that how she was created? Why can’t she remember? How come he knew and she didn’t?
She wasn’t surprised that this Donatello guy knew what her powers were. After all that’s mostly why people and other monsters wanted her, trading her back and forth until she was finally settled with Theyshem. Though, he did miss one of her powers.
“Mineral creation..?” Mikey questions.
“Yes, my dear Michelangelo! Mineral creation.” Donatello repeats. “Meaning that this fair creature can create any type of rock or metal I demand of it! Also meaning that I shall have a full neverending storage of uranium before you know it!” He says, putting another hand to his hip.
“A- Ah..” Mikey says, nodding but grimacing on the inside. A question quickly came to Mikey and his mouth moved before he could stop himself.
“Does it ah- hurt? ”
Donatello almost looks offended at the question, furrowing his brows. “ Scoff! Hurt ? Why of course not! They can create it on will or by command!” He says. “I’ve been studying, researching and searching for a selene for years ..” he says. “ Sigh .. but at long last!” He says, chuckling. “She’s mine. ”
Mikey gulps. “Don’t you.. think you should let her out?” He asks quietly. This question visibly irks Donatello, and he lets out a long sigh.
“No can do. If she gets out, she’ll shapeshift into one of us and make a break for it. Can’t have that happening now can we?” He says, leaning close to the cage. Selene glares at him, making Donnie chuckle.
She wouldn’t run away if you were nice to her , is Mikey’s thoughts that he keeps to himself.
“Besides, maybe she does more than what I’ve been studying. So I shall be studying more and running tests on her.” These words make Selene gasp, her trembling body only making the cage shiver now too. Mikey’s heart drops.
Tests? On Selene? That alone makes Michelangelo put himself in her shoes. He wouldn’t want to be a test subject! That’s scary. Horrific even.
“What type of tests..?” Michelangelo’s voice sounds small when he asks.
“Oh you know, the usual: taking blood, height, food measurements, how long they can last underwater-“ Mikey once again drowns out Donatello’s words, his eyes slowly going over to meet Selene’s, his own widened eyes showing fear. Selene’s pupils seem to beg for help.
Help .
What can he do?
