15 & 16
Kazuha rushes into school with 2 roses in her right hand, some sticky notes stuck onto her left hand and a goal in mind. She arrived at school 15 mins earlier than she normally would, so she could get to the sophomore’s class where her other friends and crush were. She knocked on the door and politely bowed to the homeroom teacher as she entered. She and Yujin immediately did a handshake making everyone else say how nerdy they were. After that, she asked for Chaewon to talk with her outside.
“u-um, I wanted to uh give you t-this” Kazuha stuttered out, her face already turning into a light red shade that only seemed to get darker, as she handed over the two roses from her right hand. “I heard you like roses, so I wanted to g-give you it, u-um I wanted to a-ask you if, if i could um” Kazuha suddenly stopped her mini rant of incoherent words as Chaewon laid a hand on her arm and told her to take a deep breath, knowing that Kazuha was never really good at talking. Kazuha took a deep breath, glancing at her hand before starting again, “unnie i really like you, w-would you go on a date with me, please?” she said with her dimples apparent. Chaewon looked at her with a guilty face before saying “oh i’m sorry k, i’m dating someone, kim minju” upon hearing those words, Kazuha felt heartbroken and disappointed she didn’t ask sooner, but she tried to keep a good face on for her crush. “o-oh ok i’m sorry for asking, i didn't mean to try to like um try to like intervene or you know like try to um steal you from her or anything, i’m really sorry you can just forget about this” Kazuha stuttered as she quickly left right after.
Kazuha ran to her own homeroom where her friends yujin and eunchae are at, yujin must’ve just arrived from visiting yena her friend from sophomore year. Kazuha had many thoughts on what just happened and she felt like a piece of her heart was just taken away, her crush had just rejected her and is currently dating someone else who is so much prettier than she is. It was mid june and summer break was approaching next week, so k tried to keep her mind excited with that thought. Maybe she can become more mature and impress chaewon to go on a date with her.
During the summer holiday, kazuha trained really hard in her football skills, playing on a pitch everyday with the football kicking it into goals, practising many skills and dribbling. She also went to the gym around 5 days a week to train and she could feel herself getting stronger. Since she has been doing many activities she also has been eating a lot of food such as greek yoghurt which has helped her grow a ton from her scrawny past of 164 to now a tall 170.
After all these activities, she lies down on her bed and scrolls on instagram which she has started to become addicted to after eunchae managed to convince her to download it. There is a notification of a story update, she clicks on it to see a message saying “happy 6th month anniversary, my love!!” with many hearts and pictures of chaewon and minju together smiling happily. Kazuha starts feeling jealous and bitter and this motivates to do more exercise. She recently installed a pull up bar and has been doing that since she wants to grow her back and arm muscles a ton. She started doing reps of 10 for about 10 mins and then started to do some push ups. Once she felt satisfied, she stopped and hopped in the shower to wash up quickly. She glanced at her phone as another notification message appeared on the home screen and saw how it was nearly cw and her birthday.
On August 1st, she woke up early to go to her store nearby to pick up a cake. She specifically asked for a mint chocolate cake knowing it was her crush’s favourite. She thanked the baker as she received her neatly made cake and started to bike over to chaewon’s house. She started to get nervous as it was her first time seeing chaewon since the last day of school, but she still wanted to wish her a happy birthday. She rings the doorbell and knocks on the door in a strange rhythm and waits nervously for her to come to the door. She waits a while until she hears footsteps getting louder and the door swings open revealing a droopy and sleepy chaewon in her grey pyjamas. Kazuha is internally melting at the sight of the cuteness overload and then she remembers to greet her and why she was here in the first place.
“Hello unnie, o-oh no did I wake you up? Oh I’m so sorry, I just wanted to drop by with this cake and w-wish you a happy birthday!” as she hands over the cake before quickly adding “it’s mint chocolate by the way, I h-hope you enjoy it unnie!” chaewon accepts it and quickly looks at kazuha from head to toe and that’s when kazuha realises how much she has actually grown since she has to crane her neck down further than usual to look at chaewon. “Thanks for the cake kazuha, I’ll go eat it soon. By the way when did you grow, you even have abs now”
“o-oh, I-i don’t know it just kinda um happened, I guess.” her cheeks feeling flushed as cw’s eyes stare at her now defined abs. “Can I touch it?” chaewon asks after a bit of staring. “Huh? Oh um sure unnie” she says with confidence and without a stutter this time, however she internally panics as chaewon moves her hand onto her abs feeling all over her stomach. Her shorts start feeling a bit tighter and she starts to panic externally. “Well u-um sorry unnie I have to go now, happy birthday truly” k gets on her bike and cycles back to her house quickly. She cannot believe after her crush touched her abs for about 10 seconds she was already getting too excited. God she hates her teenage hormonal mind. She goes to take a quick cold shower to wash off these perverted thoughts that she tries not to have.
About a week later, school is starting up again and kazuha’s birthday is in 2 days in the middle of the first week of school. As she arrives at school, a lot of people look at her in shock, making her feel strange and wonder if she has something on her face, but then her confusion is dissipated when eunchae and yujin tell her what happened. “DUDE, what happened to you? Why are you like ripped now? You’re so much taller now bro teach me how”. Kazuha thinks back to the last school year where she was a scrawny tiny little kid and thinks how now she will try to become the big built attractive girl who won’t be the one to get rejected by her crush. “I don’t know man, puberty I guess” kazuha answers her friends before they start talking about a completely random topic and getting into heated debates of if there are 1 or 2 butts.
A few lessons passed and kazuha hasn’t even seen chaewon yet which is always one of the reasons she likes and comes to school for. During lunch time, she sits on a table with eunchae, yujin and her new girlfriend jang wonyoung. She spots chaewon from afar and literally gapes, it has only been a week since she’s seen her, but she has this new two toned hair that is like multiple streaks of blond-ish hair beneath her black one and it makes her look so beautiful and hot. Kazuha looks away quickly fearing if she stares any longer, her body would react in a certain way and gets back with her tray of food in hand, to her friends waiting at the table. Eunchae keeps asking wonyoung why she would date yujin which is really entertaining as it seems that wonyoung is actually on eunchae’s side and is teasing yujin, but kazuha is too distracted to pay attention since her mind is still replaying how chaewon looked in that all black outfit, new coloured hair, her mini hooped earrings and that choker on.
She keeps taking a peek behind her to where chaewon and her friends are sitting, but she accidentally made eye contact with chaewon and quickly turned her head with a blush evident on her cheeks. Her own friends started to notice this red hue that was spreading throughout her face and asked her what was up to which she abruptly stated nothing in a very suspicious way that made all her friends raise their eyebrows. But before they could ask, the bell rang signalling for the next period. They quickly put away their trays and headed for class with kazuha staying a bit behind to eat a bit more since earlier she was too busy looking at her crush. Kazuha then starts to walk to class not before accidentally bumping into someone making her drop all their textbooks. “Oh my god I’m so sorry, are you okay?” as she quickly gathers up all the textbooks and carries them before noticing who it was she bumped into.
Standing in front of her was her crush, in her hot all black outfit and sexy choker, it made k speechless. “Yeah i’m alright” and gave a quiet thanks for picking up the books. Having felt like she did something incredibly wrong by bumping into her, kazuha tries to impress by carrying her books and saying “Hey, what’s your next class? I c-can take you there and carry your books there for y-you, I’m really s-sorry for bumping into you”. Chaewon just laughs at her making kazuha confused and instinctually pout while chaewon says “ok then, I’m headed to english class with Mr. Lee”. As kazuha is carrying her stack of textbooks, her muscles in her arm are flexed and showing through her short sleeved shirt which cw sneakily observed.
Once they arrived outside the classroom, kazuha hands back the textbooks to chaewon and when their fingers brushed, kazuha feels a blush appearing onto her cheeks once again and she anxiously places her hand on her nape feeling embarrassed. “Thanks zuha, see you later!” and chaewon quickly heads inside to not get scolded at by the teacher for being a bit late to class. “O-Oh no problem u-unnie!” kazuha replies but chaewon is already inside, making her awkwardly stand outside before heading to her own class which is calculus.
