Work Text:
Eunyung has never been an early riser. He tend to sleep through the morning, always needing Haejoon to wake him up so he wouldn't be late for school. But on some days, when bad memories from the house that he was raised in plagues his dreams, he'd wake up in the middle of the night with cold sweat and with a fear of going back to sleep. During those days, he usually made Haejoon breakfast before going back to trying to get at least a little bit of sleep. The act of it always made him calmer, and he somehow felt like he's able to convey the feelings he have for the older boy.
Today was one of those days. He checked his phone and found it still a little too early to get up, so he settled on staring at the ceiling. He hated nights like this. He hated when he's got nothing to do; it always gave him extra space to think. About his mom. About his past. About his worth.
He hated the negative feelings and thoughts that came in these nights. He always said to himself that he didn't deserve what happened to him. He wanted to believe it, but a part of him was doubting it. The feeling was overwhelming, he felt like it was swallowing him whole.
He wasn't exactly nice, nor was he smart. He hasn't been a good child either. Was he all just pretty face? Did he really not deserve it? His father's voice and his mother's face flashed on his mind. Were they right all along?
"Eunyung?" A voice said, snapping him out of his crisis.
He'd been too deep in his thoughts that he didn't realize he was sobbing aloud, waking Haejoon up. He also didn't notice him climbing on the top bunk.
"Um. Are you alright?" Haejoon asked, face worried. It was awkward, he didn't know where to put his hands and he didn't know how to comfort people. "Scratch that. You're not alright." He laid down with him and wrapped his arms around Eunyung.
Eunyung buried his face on Haejoon's chest and continued to sob. It still felt awkward for Haejoon — he's never done this before. But he was glad he was able to help. He patted Eunyung's head and rubbed his back gently, letting him cry as long as he needed. It's good. Crying will make him feel a little better.
They continued to lay there, arms wrapped around each other until Eunyung's sobs calmed and his breathing evened.
"Um," Eunyung broke the silence, though he didn't move from his current position. "Thank you."
"Mhm." Haejoon hummed in acknowledgement, not showing any means of leaving Eunyung's bed.
"I'll also be your crying shoulder if you want," Eunyung said with a grin. He moved a bit, trying to kiss Haejoon's face (the angle only allowed him to kiss his chin). He was obviously feeling better, as he was able to crack jokes again.
Haejoon just grunted, but he was considering the offer.
"Sunbae," Eunyung mumbled. "Thank you."
Haejoon just hugged him tighter and whispered, "sleep."
All the negative thoughts be damned. Haejoon was here. It was enough for him.
