Work Text:
Who's the problem here?
am I the problem? or is it you?
I only sought equality and equity; acceptance, considering I've never asked to be here
you continue to look and judge, like I am no longer human
yes, you speak on recognition and boast about Rosa Parks and Martin Luther
but more names need to be spoken on; my forgotten sisters and brothers are lost, dead
you act like you care, but do you practice what you preach?
when will I feel equal to you; I wanna feel assent and here
everyone deserves love and respect
yet to you it's a painful task
why don't I get respect? what does the color of my skin have to do with you?
you don't know me yet you treat me on untrue stereotypes
so,
am I the problem? or is it you?
