Chapter Text
Kyle’s phone rang loudly, suddenly jolting him from sleep. He groaned, fumbling around the nightstand for his glasses and jamming them on his face before grabbing his phone and hitting accept on the call.
“Hello?”
“Kyle!” Stan giggled loudly, slurring his words. Kyle rubbed his eyes.
“Are you drunk?”
“So, so drunk dude.” Stan laughed loudly on the other end. “I’m at Bebe’s party.” He drew out the y for a few seconds.
“I can tell.” Kyle sighed. “Are you okay?”
“I’m great!” Stan replied. Kyle could practically hear the shit-eating grin on his face. “But… I drove here, and no one’s sober enough to take me, um…” Stan giggled. “To take me home, sorry.”
“Fuck.” Kyle pinched his brow, knowing he couldn’t possibly imagine saying no. “Text me the address. Maybe have someone more sober do it, actually.” Kyle sat up, turning on his bedside table lamp and grabbing his discarded sweatpants.
“Okay!” Stan replied. “Kenny… Kenny says he’ll wait with me in the driveway for you.” He devolved into giggles.
“Alright. I’ll be there soon.” Kyle hung up as Stan kept laughing uncontrollably. Stepping into his slip-on shoes, he made his way out of his bedroom, staying silent as not to wake his parents or, god forbid, Ike. Ike would rat to his parents within seconds.
He took his keys from their hook by the door and stepped outside, shivering as the cold night air hit him, still in his pajamas. His phone buzzed in his pocket, and he checked it. Stan had sent him Bebe’s address- or rather Kenny had, who was surprisingly coherent when drunk. Kyle thanked him and plugged it into his gps, getting into the driver’s seat.
The drive took what felt like no time at all, and soon Kyle was pulling into a driveway, the house aglow and loud bass practically shaking the walls. Kenny and Stan were sitting on the front step, howling with laughter for some reason. Kyle put his car in park and opened the door, half stepping out.
“Stan!” Kyle called. His head whipped around, spotting Kyle and breaking into a huge grin.
Kyle suppressed the blush he felt on his cheeks. Stan looking at him that happy made him nervous.
“Kyle!” Stan attempted to stand, but Kenny knew better than to let him walk. He stood and caught Stan’s arm just in time as he stumbled, nearly smacking his face into the concrete.
“Jesus, Stan! How much did he drink?” Kyle rushed up, taking Stan’s other arm. Stan looked at him, making Kyle’s heart race a little.
“A lot.” Kenny nodded. “More than anyone else in there.”
“Fuck, Stan.” Kyle scolded as they helped him into the passenger seat. “You’re such a dumbass.” He sighed and turned to Kenny. “You need a ride too?”
“No.” Kenny said. “Butters’ is like next door, I’m headed there now to crash. Had to make sure Stan got home safe first, dude is fucking out of it.” Kenny grinned, showing his missing tooth.
“Okay, good.” Kyle buckled Stan and closed the car door. “Text me when you’re with Butters, I want to make sure you’re safe.”
“I will. Good luck getting his ass home.” Kenny gestured towards the car. He chuckled.
“Thanks. See you.” Kyle walked around to the driver’s side, watching as Kenny headed to the sidewalk. He pulled out of the driveway and headed back in the direction of his house, glancing over at Stan.
He was staring straight at Kyle with a big dumb dopey smile. Kyle pretended it didn’t make his heart leap into his throat, swallowing as he turned back to the road.
“What are you looking at?” Kyle laughed. Stan reached out and placed a hand on Kyle’s shoulder, squeezing lightly.
“You came to get me.” Stan said dreamily. Kyle gripped the wheel a little tighter.
“You called and asked me to, loser.” Kyle responded, trying his best to act normal. “Maybe get some sleep and sober up before we get to my house, you’re going to have to be dead quiet.”
“Your house?” Stan questioned.
“Yeah, I’m not leaving you alone in your house like this. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this drunk.”
“You’ll take care of me?”
“Of course, idiot.” Kyle kept his eyes on the road, but heat rose to his cheeks. “I… care about you. Why do you think I snuck out and drove to get you from buttfuck nowhere at three in the morning?”
“Aww.” Stan sniffled. “Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it.” Kyle dismissed it. He pulled into his driveway. “Are you any more sober than at Bebe’s?”
Stan giggled maniacally.
“Good to know.” Kyle got out of the car and walked around to Stan’s side, opening the door and gesturing for Stan to wrap his arm around him. Stan did, and Kyle helped him up and through the front door. He practically dragged Stan up the stairs and to his bedroom, finally dropping him into his own bed.
“But you-”
“Shut the fuck up!” Kyle hissed. “Everyone’s sleeping.”
“But you sleep here.” Stan whispered loudly.
“You can take it tonight.” Kyle untied Stan’s shoes, pulling them off and discarding them on his floor. “Sit up, I’ll help you get your coat off.”
Stan obeyed, lazily propping himself up. Kyle wiggled the sleeves off his arms and tossed the jacket behind him. Kyle spotted Stan staring at him, smiling, and rolled his eyes.
“Dude, what do you keep looking at?” Kyle asked, pulling the blanket over Stan and he laid back down.
“You’re so good at taking care of me.” Stan’s eyes were wet. “I want to be around you all the time.”
Kyle scoffed. A dark blush dusted his face. “You are so fuckin’ drunk. Go to sleep.” He mumbled and ruffled Stan’s hair, sitting down on the bed. He admired Stan’s face, cheeks flushed from the alcohol, his bleach-damaged hair curled softly on his forehead. He sighed and rested his chin in one of his hands as he stared, very, very aware that if anyone knew what he was doing, they would know immediately how he felt about Stan, just from the way he looked at him.
Kyle was so in love it was hopeless.
