Work Text:
There you stood, in the cold of a freezing winter evening knocking on your boyfriend's apartment door.
You were already on edge of today's events and feared that if something went wrong now, your emotions might bubble over. You didn't even bother to put on a jacket and went straight to Satori's house. After what seemed like forever you heard a muffled ''I'm coming!'' through the door. The door opened slowly to reveal your boyfriend standing there with his hair down and that lavishly goofy face you're used to.
''Darling!'' Satori exclaimed upon seeing you. ''I didn't know you were coming today, to what do I owe this pleasure?'' he asked smiling at you.
You looked down at your shoes, ''I umm- I wanted to see you.'' you replied with a soft voice. you walked inside as satori stepped aside for you to enter.
''You should've told me you were coming,'' he said closing the door. ''I would've prepared something to do.''. Ah yes, there it was, that small inconvenience that was about to push all of the emotions, the pain, the emptiness over the edge. Satori turned around to face you. ''So what do you wanna-''. He stops mid-sentence to see you softly crying while clutching the bottom of your shirt.
''I'm sorry for bothering you.'' You manage to say through the sobs and increasing stream of tears.
''Hey, no need to be sorry, I'm glad you're here!'' he panics as he rushes over to you. "I'm really glad you came, you're really not bothering me so don't cry okay?''. He wipes away some of the tears rolling from your eyes, but this only seems to make the tears start flowing more.
Satori looks at you worried and takes you into an embrace to try soothe the sadness and pain you're feeling. You dig your nails into his sweatshirt and hide your face in his chest. You're feeling so many things right now. The anger towards your parents for saying what they said, but also the sadness and pain for them not understanding you and you trying to live up to their expectations, and to top it off you feel even worse for bothering Satori with all this.
Lost in thought Satori gently cupped your face and started to apologize. ''I'm sorry for making you cry, sweetheart. I really didn't mean it like that.''.
You try to regain your composure and stumble over your words as you try to tell him that it isn't his fault. Seeing how upset you still are he guides you inside to the living room and sits you down on the couch. He crouches down in front of you and proceeds to wipe the tears away in an attempt to stop them. Satori gently smiles at you and plants a kiss on your forehead temporarily calming down all the raging emotions inside of you.
''So what happened there baby?'' Satori looks at you gently waiting for an answer. As curious as he is, he isn't pressing the matter. He's just sitting there waiting for you to be ready and to reply.
You look down at your hands that are fumbling with the fabric of your shirt. ''I just had a rough day with my parents'' you say sniffing whilst wiping some leftover tears away.
''Hmm same troubles, different day?'' he asked while looking at you sympathetically.
You nod ''yeah''.
You tell him all about what occurred earlier that day, the arguments, the yelling, the fighting. How you wished they respected your wishes, your dreams, and your choices. The thought of it all made you wanna cry again. He sat in front of you, silently listening to all your complaints. After you were done voicing your emotions, he looked at you for a moment before pulling you into a tight embrace. After he let go he looked at you.
''you're doing great sweetie'' you were surprised by his choice of words, and judging from his reaction he realized it too.
He continued speaking ''despite all the backlash and nagging you're getting, you truly are doing great. You never complain and you always work hard and earnestly''.
You looked at him tears filling your eyes again '' Then why aren't they proud of me satori? are they so displeased with my choices that they can't approve of who I am, am I really not doing good enough? I just want their approval and love, is that wrong of me to ask from them?''
The tears started flowing again. Satori gently looked you in the eyes as he started comforting you.
''Not everyone will support the choices you make, sometimes not even your parents'' your heart began to sink at the thought of it.
''But'' he continued ''you'll have to keep moving on'' he stood up to take a seat next to you on the couch.
''Make choices that make you happy, that make you content and sure of where you are standing in life'' he took your hands in his and started to rub them gently to comfort you.
''Understand that not everyone will always support you, but you can't let that stop you. You never let that stop you. Isn't that why I fell in love with you my darling?''
You looked down and thought about it, the words swirling around in your mind. No matter what you do, you were still their little kid and they might always think they know better than you. But no matter how hard it would get, you would try your best to prove them wrong and make them learn to also start respecting your choices, your wishes.
You giggled a little and smiled at the man in front of you. He never failed at making you feel better and he never will fail you think. Upon hearing the little giggle satori continued talking.
''But not me though''.
''What do you mean not me though?'' you looked confused at Satori, who was now grinning brightly.
''you heard me'' he said ''not me though, I'll always support you. I'll be your number one no- I am your number one supporter, and I'll fight anyone who begs to differ!
As he said that he stood up and jumped on the couch, starting to make invincible sword movements as if he was sparring with someone. The scene made you laugh and it brought joy to you knowing no one loved you as much as he does.
he jumped off the couch and stood in front of you, he pulled you towards him hugging you.
''how about you stay the night?'' he asked ''you can wear some of my clothes and we can cuddle''.
''I would love that'' you replied happily.
''Well then it would be wise to go shower, and once your done go change and come back here baby, okay?''
''Okay,'' you replied.
You walked off to go take a shower. The warm water hitting your skin truly felt like a blessing, all your nerves eased and it felt like you came back from the dead after all that crying. You took a nice long shower and after you were done, you were pretty sure his water bill would have a few zeros extra at the end of the month. You walked out freshly in some of your boyfriend's most comforting clothes, as you re-entered the living room you were hit with the smell of warm popcorn. you looked at the table to find a huge bowl of popcorn and different types of candies and snacks filling the table. Next to the table were all kinds of soda, seeing as they were next to the table you figured they couldn't fit on the table anymore because of all the food he had put down.
''What do you think? my greatest work yet no?'' you turned around to see satori emerge from the kitchen holding two bags of chips under his arms and walking towards you with cups.
''Are we having a movie night?'' you asked excitedly eyes now twinkling with excitement.
''Of course, we are! And we won't stop until it's either 3 AM or until we finished everything on that table and feel miserable.'' he said while walking towards the blanket-filled couch.
You smiled and walked over taking a seat next to Satori.
''Are you ready for our little night?''
''Of course, I am!'' you replied, voice full of cheer and it not remembering the sad and distraught sound it gave earlier. You huddled closer to Satori for cuddles and got exactly that. As you sat there next to satori, you couldn't help and feel blessed to have him in your life like this. After all that happened today, this is exactly what you needed. You needed him, you needed Satori.
''What a warm winter evening.'' he said under his breath pulling you closer.
