The Evo of UA

Summary:

After the world's introduction to the fascinating abilities now known as quirks, many scientists began trying to erase them from the world. One of these projects was known as The Nanite Project which, like the other projects, were cancelled after the rise of heroes. Eventually the project was revived for an unknown reason, with Izuku Midoriya's mother as one of the head scientists. When the nanites begin to malfunction, and the world is infested with the micro machines, the fate of the world is placed in Izuku Midoriya's hands, unbeknownst to anyone, even Izuku himself.

Notes:

this is a rewrite of another fanfic that I started but kind of gave up on. I reread it recently and was inspired to write it due to the fact that I had interesting ideas, but it was my first fanfic so it was pretty bad.

Chapter 1: The Beginning of a Champion

Chapter Text

"So, your son is quirkless?" a man wearing a modified plague doctor mask asked a green haired woman. She frowned at this question.

"If what the doctor said is true, and I have no reason to doubt him, then yes." the woman named Inko Midoriya answered. She remembered how she met the man recently and he told her to meet him at a secluded location because he claimed to have a solution to her son's problem. I hope that his claim was genuine. Inko thought as she recalled Izuku's words after the doctor appointment, nearly five years ago.

The laughter of All Might from Izuku's favorite video played in the background as the young boy cried. "Mom... do you think... I can be a hero too?" he said, tears flowing from his eyes. His mother began to cry and hugged her son. "I'm sorry Izuku. I wish things could be different."

"I'm sure that You'd like some information on my claims. Before I tell you however, you must promise that you won't tell anyone else about this. Before that, I'll give you a simple explanation of our goals. We are attempting to bring equality back to the world. Feel free to leave now if you don't wish to help us." the man said while Inko was remembering the reason she decided to hear the man out.

"I have no reason to say no. If I can help my son achieve his goal, then yes, I'll help." Inko said, thinking of how happy her son would be to achieve his dream. I don't understand why this is something so unknown. No news on it or even any evidence of its existence at all. She thought before the man began to speak.

"Good. follow me, we can discuss as we walk to our 'base of operations' as some people might put it," the man began as they began walking to a building. After entering a secret entrance he began explaining. "Several years after quirks first appeared, many scientists decided to try to get rid of them in many ways. The program with the most potential decided to alter the very genetics of all metahumans using controllable, microscopic machines. It, and all other programs of its nature were shut down at the emergence of heroes. After it was discovered by this organization, we decided to pick up where they left off. Ah, here we are." After a while of walking the two ended up in a large room with a chamber full of yellow light. "That is the nanite chamber."

Inko stared at it in disbelief as she noticed many other scientists working at computers.

"I don't believe I caught your name."

"Oh, it's Inko. Inko Midoriya."

"Well it's nice to meet you, Inko. You can call me Overhaul."

"All right everyone, it's time to start thinking seriously about your future." a teacher told his class. "Now I would pass out these career application forms, but why bother? I know you all want to join the hero course!" he said as all of his students began using amazing abilities besides two. "Yes, you all have some amazing abilities, but no quirk usage during school."

"Hey teach," an overconfident blond haired boy began, "don't lump me in with these extras, they'd be lucky to become a sidekick." The rest of the class began yelling angrily at the boy before the teacher began talking again.

"Well your grades are certainly good, and everyone knows that you have a capable quirk. Maybe you will get into UA.'' The class fell silent at this, surprised due to the fact that UA was the number one hero school. Unfortunately for another student, Izuku Midoriya, the teacher wasn't done talking. "Oh, Izuku, didn't you apply for UA as well?" With that, Izuku Midoriya could feel the rest of his classmates start staring at him.

The entire class began laughing except for one person, "Damnit Deku! Do you really think that they'd accept you when they could have me!?" Katsuki Bakugou, the blond haired boy, yelled, creating a small explosion from his hand. "They'd never let a quirkless loser like you in, especially after your 'family history'."

Izuku clenched his fists, knowing exactly what they were talking about.

Izuku continued to be tormented until the teacher intervened, but by the end of class, Deku ended up with his notebook about different heroes thrown out the window and landed in a fountain. As he walked home he ended up under a bridge, unaware that what was about to happen would shape the course of history.

As he walked, the sewer lid burst open, followed by a giant mass of sludge, which turned out to be a villain. "Well well well, what have we here? A perfect sized skinsuit!" the villain exclaimed, much to Izuku's horror, but before he could do anything, the villain began shoving itself into Izuku's mouth, suffocating him.

Izuku continued to struggle, unable to stop the villain. As he faded from consciousness, he remembered when he was twelve years old, when he discovered the Nanite Chamber, shortly before the infamous Nanite Event. Suddenly, a powerful nanite, unlike any other, spurred to life, if only briefly, powering all the nanites in his body, and creating more. Izuku's body erupted with energy, as a large mechanical fist formed on his hand, shocking the teen. What?! How did I... Izuku began to think before falling to the ground in pain, which the sludge villain then woke up.

"Ugh, that was pretty clever, kid but now I'm- what the hell?!" the villain exclaimed as metallic growths began appearing all over the young boy and began expanding as a loud mechanical whirring filled the air. The hero All Might erupted from the sewer, only to find a new threat. Izuku Midoriya was now an Exponentially Variegated Organism.

News channels everywhere began reporting on the fight that had occurred between All Might and the biggest and most powerful EVO ever seen. One of the viewers was Inko  Midoriya, who upon hearing the identity of the EVO, began rushing as fast as she could to make it to the hospital. When she arrived, he was still unconscious.

After they came home from the hospital, unbeknownst to Izuku, Inko checked on the energy level of his nanites. The Omega has powered on temporarily, but must have been too powerful for him at his current state. She let him sleep before walking to her room to get some sleep as well. The next school day, Izuku was practically famous with everyone talking about him. Unfortunately, Bakugo only seemed to bully him even more. Despite this, Izuku was focused on training after school.

After traveling to Takoba beach in order to train in seclusion. I can't make the same mistake as last time. Izuku concentrated, as his nanites went to his arm. Circuitry-like patterns began spreading across his arm along with a slower version of the same whirring sound being produced. A mechanical arm and hand formed. By the end of the week, he could form two of the mechanical fists at the same time. After that he began working on creating other builds. By the beginning of the entrance exam Izuku had created five other builds. He stood by the entrance of UA ready for whatever was coming his way.

"Damnit Deku!" Bakugo said walking behind Izuku. "You better not get in my way, nerd." he told Izuku, but the comment was ignored. Izuku continued forward

I can do this. I've been training for ten months, I'm ready for anything! Izuku thought before tripping and falling. Or I'll just die before the test even begins. It took a while to fall however, and eventually he opened his eyes, only to discover he was floating.

"Sorry about that!" a girl with brown hair said upon seeing Izuku's surprised reaction. "I should've asked before using my quirk, but I figured you wouldn't want to fall on such an important day. My name's Ochako Uraraka by the way!" After thanking the girl and finding his seat at the explanation of the exam, Izuku began muttering to himself, but he caught the attention of another teen.

"...and you in with the messy green hair," the blue haired teen began, "stop your muttering, it is a nuisance."

Izuku immediately stopped, embarrassed to have all the attention on himself, and continued to listen to the practical test's explanation by the pro hero Present Mic. After the explanation, the test began, and Izuku and the rest of the potential students waited for the count down when suddenly, "go go go! There are no countdowns in real battles!" Izuku formed the vehicle contraption and raced into the fake city.

As he rammed into the robots with the mechanical fists, easily getting the highest score, many other participants looked at him, recognizing him from the news report. As this was happening, the judges watched in awe at the boy's power.

"How intriguing. It would seem as though the boy from the EVO incident several months ago has learned to harness the power of his nanites. He will certainly be an interesting and unique addition to the school." the principal said. "I believe that it's time to introduce another factor into this situation." The principal then pressed a large red button as a massive zero point robot entered into each battle field.

Izuku stared in shock for a moment at the machine. Then he began running, until he heard a girl cry out. He turned to see the Ochako, trapped underneath some rubble, with the zero point robot right over her. At that moment, he started running towards the robot, causing most who saw him to consider him crazy. Izuku formed the large mechanical footwear, propelling himself upwards, he then got rid of them, and using as much energy as he could, formed the biggest fist possible and punched the robot, sending it flying backwards. As he fell, he tried to form another fist, but was unable to. He fell to his death, trying desperately to create another build, his nanites overwhelmed, when he got slapped in the face by the girl he was saving, she used her quirk on him, making him float. With difficulty, she deactivated her quirk.

For the next couple weeks, Izuku waited nervously for the results. One day, his mother burst through his door with an envelope. "Izuku! The results! They're here!"

He opened the envelope, with a hologram projection disk falling from it. From watching it he learned two important things, one, he made it into UA. Two, All Might would be teaching there. On Izuku's last day of middle school, his teacher congratulated him and Bakugou on making it into UA. This, of course angered Bakugou greatly, but it didn't bother Izuku as much. Izuku walked through the halls of UA, reaching the class 1-A door, which was massive for some reason. He walked in, immediately seeing Bakugou had already started a fight with the blue haired teen from the entrance exam, causing Izuku to sigh.

As Izuku walked through the halls of his dream school, the villain known as All For One explored the ruins of the room that held the nanite chamber in search of any active nanites. Eventually discovering some, he stuck his hand, which now looked like a golden metal gauntlet, into the cloud of nanites, absorbing them. Yellow circuitry-like patterns appeared and a slow whirring sound was produced, emerging from a ring on the palm of his hand. The villain smiled as he slowly headed back to the base of the League of Villains, smiling, thinking about what the future held for him.
