Chapter 1: [#01]

Chapter Text

The old clock on the wall of her room ticked sonorously with every passing second. To someone relatively normal, the ticking would drive them crazy, but for Y/N, it was relaxing.

She knew with every tick... every passing second someone died around the world... but also many were born at the same time, she ignored that though. Her focus was on the deaths. Death was interesting for her, her inquisitiveness always made her wonder what it was like to die. She was not planning on dying any time soon though, but still, she was curious about how it must be. Y/N finds comfort in the fact that she will find out when the inevitable time comes for her.

There was no music playing around, yet a single song was stuck in her head, so she started to sing it as low as she could to not make her parents aware that she was awake. She didn't want to socialize with anyone just yet. "The dead I owe; gotta sell my soul, 'cause I can't say no, no, I can't say no; then my limbs are frozen, and my eyes won't close, and I can't say no, I can't say no."

Y/N questioned herself in search of answers she already had but decided to ignore. She wanted to know why was she like this...? Having this morbid interest in death.

After brushing her hair for ten minutes straight, it had finally settled down. The end of the school year was near, and with it came the summer... Y/N's most hated season, but still, it's not like she was planning out getting out of her house too much. Thankfully, today was Saturday.

The first rays of the sun were still nowhere to be seen. She was surprised herself, she usually woke up five minutes before school started at 8:15 even if there was no school, yet she was awake at 3:30 sharp.

There must be someone expecting her.

Y/N threw a hoodie over her head quickly, she raised her arms to fit them in the sleeves before she pulled the hoodie down. She looked down making sure she was wearing socks. Ever so carefully, she slowly opened the door of her room, making sure there was no sound. She opened the door just enough for her to slip outside. She quickly tiptoed down the stairs that finished in a little spiral. Having done this almost every day, she had mastered sneakiness, it came naturally to her now, just as silent and gracefully as a cat or a gazelle.

She took a silent deep breath to calm down her heart. The girl didn't know who was going to visit her today, every day was always one out of the seven possibilities.

She heard silent scratching on the door, indicating her visitor was already impatient. With a grin spreading across her small-rounded face, she slowly opened the front door to not make much noise. A ragdoll kitten entered the house right away. The beautiful kitten stood by Y/N's side right away. She closed the door silently before all her attention was directed to the kitten. Cooing, Y/N softly took the cat in her arms, the cat made himself comfortable in her arms right away.

Y/N did not know why multiple animals visited her every day, but she loved it. She did not have any official pets, but the animals always with her had been unofficially adopted by the family. She saw them as her multiple spirits guardian.

The kitten 'Suga' clung to her body, Y/N assumed in search of body heat, but in reality, the truth was completely different.

Y/N has known the cat's name ever since the start just like the rest of her spirit guardians, all of them met her with a paper on which they had their names written for her. She had memorized their names right away.

She would get visits from a koala, a baby alpaca, a kitten/cat, a squirrel, a very fluffy Pomeranian, a tiger cub, and a cute bunny.

T oday seemed to be the kitten's turn to pay her a visit.

She would spend all day with whoever came by. Her school and wherever she went allowed spirit guardians so there was no way they would be far from her. Every night, she would go to sleep cuddling her partner but would always wake up alone. She figured they would leave once they were sure nothing is going to happen to her. Either way, she only stays consciously alone for about an hour.

"Hungry?" Y/N asked in a whisper to the cute ass kitten. In response, the kitten perked up his ears while intensively staring into her eyes.

That's a yes.

She raised the cute kitten to her face so she could rub her cheek on his fluffy fur in a loving gesture for a while.

She walked towards the kitchen a couple of meters away, successfully without making any noise. Y/N would leave the kitten on the countertop as she prepares his food, but she knows better after years. The kitten hates to be away from her arms. Suga starts whining every time she walks a meter away; just like the rest of her guardians.

With Suga in her arms, she takes a big plate from the cabinet and then sets it on the countertop. Y/N secures her grip around Suga with just one arm as she searches for the fish her mother had bought specially for the cat. Despite Suga being a tiny kitten, he could eat an entire fish in about ten seconds. She quickly takes and puts the fish over the plate, and with her natural-long nails she rips the thin plastic over the fish. Y/N softly places Suga over the countertop once the fish is within his reach. She caresses the back of Suga so he can eat calmly, knowing she is there and not leaving any time soon.

The kitten looks tiny next to the fish, yet the fish is only reduced to bones in just about ten seconds. Y/N giggles as she cleans Suga's face after he is done eating.

Spirit guardians don't need to eat, but they can. Her guardians in special love to eat.

She puts the dish on the sink with plans of washing it along with her parents' breakfast dishes.

Y/N goes back up as quietly as she had gone down with Suga in her arms. The kitten sometimes turned into a full-grown cat, but today didn't seem to be that day. Using his claws, Suga had a tight grip on Y/N's hoodie, making sure he would not move from his comfy place in her arms.

She opened the door slowly, just enough for her to go inside her room, and then closed the door right away. She took a deep breath as she was finally in her room, her safe space.

She was not tired. As Y/N was deciding what to do so early in the morning, she just stood in the middle of her room like a sim.

"Miaow!" Suga wined in his tiny voice, clearly wanting something. She looked down at the kitten. Suga rubbed his head to her chest.

"Cuddles?" She guessed.

"Miaow."

She giggled. Y/N walked to her full-sized bed with Suga in her arms. She laid down with Suga over her, but it was obvious that wasn't enough for the kitten as he was still moving around uncomfortable. Y/N softly took the kitten in her right hand. She lifted the collar of her hoodie and shirt to put the kitten directly over her skin. Suga started to purr in the new position. With her hoodie and shirt collars softly over the kitten and the direct contact with her skin, he calmed down.

Surprisingly, her eyelids started to feel heavy. Suga had just arrived so she knew he was going to be there when she woke up. She decided not to fight her newfound fatigue. She closed her eyes and decided to go with the flow with the cuddling kitten right over her providing comfort and company.

...

"Y/N?" A female voice called from afar.

A sound came from the back of her throat. She wanted to continue sleeping, but she knew that once bothered, there was no going back into a deep slumber.

"What is it?" She asked as she sat up, completely forgetting about the kitten resting over her.

Suga did not emit a sound as he slid down the middle of her boobs to her stomach to finally be stopped on the end of her hoodie. Y/N's eyes widened as she gasped. She quickly lifted the end of her clothes to get the kitten out. She expected to see the kitten mad at her. The kitten just looked at her with piercing eyes.

She quickly took the kitten's face to her cheek. She rubbed her cheek to his fur lovingly as she apologized. "I'm so sorry, Suga! I love you!" The kitten's intense glaring disappeared after her last sentence. Y/N felt relieved right away as her guardian had forgiven her.

Suga did turn into an adult cat though, but still, he raimed in her arms as always.

"We are going to the mall," her mom said smiling as always. Her long wavy hair was wet, suggesting she just took a shower.

Out of instinct, Y/N took her hand to the back of her head to check how her hair was. She mentally groaned as the back had not dried over her nap.

She took a deep breath. Suga stood with two paws over her legs before he threw his body over her chest, hugging her. "When?"

"Right now! Get dressed!" Her mother closed the door after giving her final words. Y/N got startled as the door opened once more. Again, her mother peaked through the door. "Oh! And we are going to harvest strawberries tomorrow!" She said happily before closing the door once in for all.

Before Y/N could stand up, Suga put his front paws over the collar of her clothes.

"Meow!" He whined.

"Really?" She asked, already knowing what the cat wants.

The cat made a 'pretty please' face that was enough to melt her heart. Y/N was not sure how a cat was able to make those faces but she was not going to question it, everything was weird enough. She lifted the end of her hoodie and shirt altogether. Suga gracefully slipped down her clothes. His fur softly tickled her skin as the cat's head popped out from the collar. As Y/N never wore a bra with cool temperatures, Suga was fur to skin, with her clothes protecting him from the cool winds that were soon going to disappear. Suga tucked his lower paws directly under the sides of her panties as he already knew her sweatpants were going to be changed.

Y/N stood up once the cat was not in danger of falling. She walked to her wardrobe absent-mindedly. The big cat looked at her with loving eyes yearning to have all her love. She changed from sweatpants to ripped-high-waisted cargo mom jeans, put on her sneakers, grabbed her mini backpack, and left with one side of her purse hanging over her shoulder.

She kissed the top of Suga's forehead as she looked down to the stairs, the cat purred, ready to get more love.

"I'll drive today!" Her dad said from downstairs to her.

Y/N smiled. "Good." She looked down at Suga. "We get to cuddle the entire ride."

Y/N could swear her cat just grinned human-like, but she just returned the grin without thinking much about it.

She ran outside to be in the car. Y/N felt like a little kid once again as she was not driving, and she liked it. As soon as the engine started, her dad's music started to play. She had a different taste so she put her earbuds in and started to play a song on her phone. Her eyes turned into crescent moons as the song was just perfect. As the car was pulling from the driveway, she leaned down to the cat observing her all the time so he would be the only one to hear her.

"Watermelon Suga high! Watermelon Suga high! Watermelon Suga high! Watermelon Suga high!"
