Work Text:

Nene was definitely not the touchy - feely type of person, if anything she’d much rather have others not touch her at all. And well- luckily nobody really does. Fair trade, no one has to deal with a pissed Nene and she can stay in her little bubble.

But there are a few people who have exceptions to this rule… one of them being the cute pink-haired, energetic, small girl in her troupe.

Otori Emu.

Anything from hugging onto nene’s side to just a simple shoulder pat, (although, emu’s “pats” have so much power behind them- at this point would they even be considered pats??)
it seems as if “keeping your hands to yourself” was never part of Emu’s vocabulary. Now, don’t get Nene wrong, she actually really enjoys the affection she gets from Emu - surprisingly. All the little bits of touches Emu gives her, makes her chest flutter with emotions, to the point where Nene is left wishing Emu held onto a little longer.

Okay, yes, Nene might have a small (huge) crush on her.

So when one hot summer day at the wonder stage, when Nene was sitting on the edge of the stage after a long day of practice, sweat slowly accumulating on her forehead, fingers tapping away at her rhythm game - she was quite surprised to feel possibly the coldest pair of thin arms wrap around her neck. Which invokes a shiver out of the poor green-haired girl. “What the hell?” she thinks “Who in the world has such ungodly freezing arms..?”

“Nene!! Did I surprise you??”

Oh.

Well, that’s quite unexpected.

Emu plops down right beside Nene, bumping their elbows against each other as the energetic girl crosses her legs. (which does cause Nene’s cheek to heat up, but she’s just gonna blame that on the heat.) So now Nene can definitely confirm, Emu was quite cold. “Ironic isn’t it? How can someone who’s smile leaves you feeling oh so warm have such a cold touch?” Nene thought to herself. “How have I not noticed how cold her hands are?”

Maybe since Emu's always wearing those gloves to her stage outfit? Or because of the fact that Nene wears hoodies (and anything oversized really) a bit too much? (what can she say- they’re so comfy) Or Emu really just stepped out of a freezer or something. (Nene would much rather believe that than think she never knew something like this about her crush.)

“Nene-chan?? Is everything alright??” Emu asks, her bright features shifting into ones of slight concern as she laces their arms together and intertwines their fingers.

“Emu, why are your hands so cold?” Nene says, her tone coming off a bit more exasperated than she intended.

Emu gives her a look of surprise, before bursting into a fit of giggles. Leaving Nene a bit confused.

“W-what’s so funny…” Nene looks over as Emu clears her throat. Her smile still shining on her face, honestly, Emu’s smile is enough to make Nene warm up from the inside out. Really not helping with the summer heat.

“Sorry, sorry Nene… I just thought you already knew!!” Emu says between giggles. “My siblings always complain about it when I give them hugs and Tsukasa is always muttering about it after I greet him. Considering how much I cling onto you, I thought you’d notice a while ago!!” the pink-haired girl huffs out, cheeks slightly puffed. Nene wonders if her cheeks are also just as cool…

“O-oh, I guess I really haven’t noticed…” Nene mutters. Suddenly the green haired girl’s intrusive thoughts take over and she leans into Emu’s exposed shoulder, resting her cheek on it.

“Ah- Nene??” Emu says, a bit startled.

“Hmm, you’re cool and I’m sweaty- so I’m just trying not to die of a heat stroke.” Nene says as she closes her eyes.

“Eww, I don’t want your sweat on me!!” Emu playfully exclaims as she tries to move away.

Nene uses her other hand (not intertwined with Emu’s) to pull her right back in. “Too bad, I guess.” Nuzzling her face back into Emu.

“Nene!!” Emu giggles “Stop!! That tickles!”
