Chapter Text
Phil's sharp black eyes glaze over as another cold gust of wind blows through the large backyard. Across from the roof where he is perched, he sees pine trees dancing along to the night air. Another blast of wind flies over the two storied house, snapping Phil out of his gaze.
Adjusting his position on the roof top, (he also lowered his shiny black wings; he did NOT want to fall again) he looked back into the telescope.
It was all black, except for 3 rings of color; red, yellow, and blue. Phil had been specifically crafting it for this night. working on it ever since Kristin warned him over 5 years ago. Afterall, tonight was the night a well-known star called L'manburg exploded.
Right before a star explodes it burns its magnificent brightest, then in its death releases elements otherwise never seen, let alone heard of in the Universe.
But Kristin had told him the end of this star's life was the beginning of someone else's.
Squinting his eyes, he caught a glimmer of bright blue in an otherwise dark sky. Whipping back to the telescope, he sees L'manburg
glow..
glow...
then gone.
It was the most horrible, most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. A ripple of floating elements went in all directions, pulled by other object's invisible gravity, with one thing growing bigger in the telescope's vision as it fell down to Eaarth.
An avian of the Stars.
Glowing bright blue around him, the small boy (who looked no more than 6) falls down to Earth with hair as light as snow, the light color and bright aura shared by all star-light avians.
Avians, as you may not yet know can be split into forces of nature. There are Earth avians, water avians, and cloud avians to list a few. Any miracle of nature probably has an avian species formed from it, and each one is rarer than the last. One type, the kind Phil is currently watching fall to their destiny, are called avians of starlight and used to be as commonly seen as you and me. Their red wings glimmered of starlight. blonde hair so light it looked aglow, and intelligent eyes were commonly seen in parks, grocery stores, and malls living amongst hums. Until a few years ago, all avian species lived amongst humans to no indifference.
However.
When Schlatt overtook Scnowchester, (most say this was illegally done) he wasted no time in tightening his already iron fist on the city. When Schlatt raised his taxes again., causing thousands of workers to be unemployed and hundreds of unemployed to be homeless, one avian stood his ground and fought back.
He was an avian of starlight, and only 14 years old.
His name was Grian.
Grian was braver than all of the adult citizens combined, avians or not.
His bravery blinded his intelligent eyes.
During a peaceful protest he was leading, Grian was left unprotected. Schlatts's security swooped in and arrested him, dousing his light and claiming the security had turned violent. Although he had silenced one important voice-Grian was known as a beacon of equality for the citizens- avians of all types banded together. Before avians could convince humans to join this unfair type and turn the tides, Schlatt sent out and order deeming all avian types except for ones of starlight to be illegal.
Avians of starlight were to be killed on sight.
Phil shuddered, thinking of family and friends thrown in jail, bird wings that stood for freedom locked away with injustice. Phil was just a low-ranked avian of the moon at that time, and his species stood for protecting the ones of starlight.
But he failed.
Phil remembered his younger self watching avians of the stars, never even lived to be teenagers, slaughtered in the streets for merely existing. He remembered his family around him telling him to run, save as many as he could, but mostly to just save himself.
Glancing up at the falling avian, Phil knew their paths would cross again in 10 years. This time he knew he would not fail/ This time, he would lead the young avian of the stars to save their world.
:If only" Phil wondered aloud, watching as the boy disappeared behind the far tree line.
:If only I knew who they were".

10 Years Later

"TOMMY WHAT THE FUCK?!" Wilbur shouted across their small apartment. Blue eyes wide as a deer in headlights, Tommy froze in his act. Slowly lowering the spoon, Tommy opened his mouth to defend himself, but Wilbur's eyes were filled with annoyance, and he knew he'd lost the argument before it'd begun.
:You can't feed Clementine ketchup! She's a goldfish!" Wilbur screeched, his eyes glowing faintly gold as he furrowed his brow.
"Well..." Tommy defended sheepishly "a balanced diet never hurt anyone. ..or any fish."
Techno floated by, dyed pink hair in a complicated braid as he sipped his coffee.
"Techno- help me explain to Tommy that, no, a fish cannot have ketchup" Techno just grunted and looked up from his book on ancient myths. Tommy could pratically feel hime think "it's too early for this".
"Eh, Tommy's fish, Tommy's rules." Her replied half-heartedly. Tommy gave a devilish grin, Techno went back to reading, and Clementine blubbed leaving Will spluttering.
"I- But- She- GOLDFISH?!"
