“Because we are all mature adults, we are talking this out.”
Chris snorted. Peter turned his nose up into the air. Stiles rolled his eyes at both of them and went to get himself a glass of water. Mostly he needed a minute. He had thought that they were a lot to handle before they got together. Now, it was almost unbearable.
Not that he didn’t care for them both. But three strong personalities in a relationship was… tiring to navigate sometimes.
From the kitchen, he called, “You aren’t leaving that couch until you talk it out.”
“We aren't your children,” Peter snapped angrily.
Even after their conversation at the cafe, he was still being ungodly stubborn.
And Stiles was done with it.
“I should hope not, seeing as how I fuck you both,” Stiles muttered, loud enough for Peter to hear. Chris must have too since the older man choked out a laugh. He walked back into the living room and threw himself onto the armchair that none of them really used. “It’s been a week since you told me you were going to talk to Chris. You haven’t.”
“What happened to we’ll be here for you when you figure it out?” Peter spat with ire Stiles hadn’t been expecting.
This time, Chris turned to him with a look of concern. Stiles still didn’t care. He was annoyed.
“Peter, calm the fuck down,” Stiles said as firmly as possible.
“Well that’s uncalled for,” Peter told him uneasily. He seemed taken aback at the way Stiles was approaching this. Good.
“You two are the only family I have,” Stiles told them bluntly. Chris sucked in a sharp breath while Peter’s eyes went wide, but he didn’t care. He wasn’t looking for a reaction or sympathy or whatever. “We’re all orphans here,” Stiles said with a curl of his lips, “and I am so tired of losing people I love.”
“You aren’t going to lose either of us, Stiles,” Chris told him quietly, seriously, his sudden frown looking like it had been etched too deeply into his face by time and hardship.
“You don’t know that.” Stiles shrugged his shoulders when Chris went to protest. “I’m just saying. The lives we live, the things we know… there’s no guarantee we’ll have a future together. What we have is now, and right now, Peter, you’re being an elusive dick for no good reason.”
Peter’s shoulders went tense. Stiles could tell that he was going to keep being stubborn about it.
Well, he wasn’t going to back down.
“Chris, your sister killed Peter’s entire family. Peter, you killed Chris’ sister and his father,” Stiles explained. Maybe if they got it all out there, they could finally move past whatever it was that was shadowing their relationship.
“Wait he did what—” Chris started, but Stiles kept going.
“I killed Chris’ daughter. Sure, maybe it wasn’t me, but the Nogitsune wore my skin when causing chaos. Hell, I almost killed Chris, and I actually burned Peter alive years before any of that.” Stiles took a deep breath and looked at Peter evenly. “We all have a fuck ton of trauma in our pasts. I don’t know what’s stopping you from letting Chris in when you have no problem with me, but you’ve been taking it out on Chris and it isn’t fair to any of us.”
This time it was Peter who tried to interrupt. “I hardly see how that is—”
“No. When you joined this relationship, Chris and I both thought you were going to be the end of our triangle, not the point to a “V”,” Stiles told him. “If you don’t want to be with Chris romantically, that is okay. But you can’t be this hostile to him either. I am with both of you, and if that’s going to continue, you need to get along.”
“So what, this is some type of ultimatum?” Peter demanded, jumping to his feet. Chris rose as well, watching Peter warily. “Either I join you or it’s over?”
“God, are you even listening to me?” Stiles asked tiredly. He rubbed at his temple, wondering if there was something he could say to make Peter get it.
“Of course I am!” Peter said. “But all I’m hearing is you telling me what’s going to happen as if you’re our boss—”
“You’re such a dick,” Chris growled before he grabbed the back of Peter’s neck and tugged him into a harsh, biting kiss.
Stiles watched—with a considerable amount of interest—as Chris domineered the kiss. It was hotter than he’d imagined, watching the two of them kiss. Peter melted into it like it was all he’d ever wanted, and a flash of heat warmed Stiles’ belly at the sight. He knew exactly what that felt like, and from the way Chris moaned, it was just as good as he’d expect it to be.
After another moment of harsh tension, the kiss slowed down. Chris’ hands came around and cupped Peter’s neck gently, and the wolf did nothing but lean into it.
When Chris pulled back, Stiles watched with a small grin as Peter chased after him.
“I care about you,” Chris told him steadily. Stiles wasn’t sure if this was something he should be listening to, but he figured getting up and leaving would be even more awkward. “I care about Stiles. Those two statements are independent of each other, Peter.”
“After everything… how can you be so sure about this?” Peter asked quietly. His voice sounded vulnerable, lost in a way Stiles hadn’t ever heard from him before.
“Because I don’t give a fuck about anything but how I feel for the two of you. I’ve lost too much to overthink this shit.”
Peter snorted, but he seemed to nuzzle into Chris’ cheek.
“Concise as always,” Stiles murmured from where he was still sitting. He grinned widely when both men looked over at him, and asked, “So can I take it that this very hot display of primal affection means the angst is past us?”
Peter’s cheeks went pink, but his tone was still snotty when he said, “Maybe.”
“Come here, baby,” Chris murmured. He still had an arm around Peter and was keeping their sides pressed together. From where Peter was watching him, it didn’t seem like he cared.
Stiles grabbed Chris’ outstretched hand. Lacing their fingers together, he closed the space between them. He looped his own arm around Peter’s waist to hold him close. It felt good to have both of them so close.
“Can I get a kiss?” Chris asked, and Stiles grinned as he leaned in.
Stiles kissed Chris soundly, rubbing his thumb against the coarse hair of his beard. He knew that Chris was growing it out after a very good evening they’d had last week that had involved Chris’ facial hair and Stiles’ asscheeks. Now, it was long enough that he was just able to tug on the strands, and he gave them a little pull as he drew back.
“You’re so handsome,” he said quietly, loving the way Chris’ eyes crinkled with his smile.
Then, he turned and kissed Peter.
Just like the first time, kissing Peter was inherently different than kissing Chris. Where Chris kissed him back, Peter let himself be kissed. He nipped at the wolf’s upper lip, gently grasping the base of his throat in a way he’d quickly learned Peter loved.
Peter chased his lips when he pulled back, too, but Stiles merely grinned and held him in place.
“Thank you, pup,” Stiles murmured against his lips. He gave Peter another long, firm kiss before pulling back. “Thank you for letting us in.”
Peter rolled his eyes, but he was holding onto both of them in a tight, white-knuckled grip that wasn’t fooling anyone.
That was okay, though. Stiles would let him pretend to be aloof.
