Chapter One: Don't Thrust Strangers Too Much
o0oOo0o
Hello, Harry Potter here! My advice for today: DON'T EASILY TRUST STRANGERS! Chances are they're lying to you. And if not, they have some hidden agenda concerning you.
o0oOo0o
My name is Harry James Potter. I am the son of Lily Potter and James Potter.
Did I mention that they're a witch and a wizard respectively?
Of course I'm a wizard too. Luckily enough I have inherited my parent magical genes or something. As the name implies I can do wizardry or magic or abra cadabra or whatever you want to call it.
Uhmmm...
This is awkward!
Do I really need to introduce myself?
I know all of you knew my life story to the point that there fanfictions about me based on "What if" scenarios.
So can I skip the introductions and start the story?
Thank you!

It all started at the dead of the night. Everything was silent and the only thing I can hear is my light breathing. Well you can hear the crickets doing their thing, cricketing. But that's just background noise.
A small laugh emit from my lips as I wonder if those crickets hate us, humans, for them to produce those irritating sound night by night. Did they even get tired? Or maybe they're planning world domination by depriving us of sleep. And we were too fatigue because of lack of sleep, it would be their chance to attack.
Nah! I'm sure there's some scientific reason behind those. I'll ask my friend, Google, tomorrow.
Hah! My mind is going off in tangents again. I think I should probably go to sleep.
The soft bed is beckoning me. It really is better than what I used to sleep in when I was young.
Yes, you guessed right I am currently lying in my bed in my room, the one that used be my cousin's, Dudley, second bedroom.
I look at the wall clock above the door.
The minute and the hour hand of the clock are close to overlap while the second hand, minding his own business, continues to rotate clock-wise. Only a few more minutes and the two thickest hands will both point upwards.
11:58
It is already close to midnight.
All of you probably think that I should really go to sleep because of the time. But there's a reason why I can't.
Because today is July 30.
A hundred seconds more and I'll turn fourteen.
For some reasons, thinking that I'll finally become fourteen years of age, I really become excited. Thinking about that would sometime constrict my heart. I wonder what so special about it.
Will something good happen?
It is sure to be special based on how excited I was. It's the first time I felt something like this. Am i.... Am I in love?!!
Hahahaha!!! Did I make your heart skip a beat? I'm just going with the flow.
But seriously, I wish that it wouldn't be too extreme for a troll to suddenly appear and make a mess of my room, or a possessed teacher, or a really BIG snake, or a dog or a wolf.
I already experience all of that and I want to say I don't want to experience it again.
Once again I looked at the clock. The minute hand almost completely covered the hour hand. A little push and you wouldn't be able to see the hour hand. The second hand is rapidly approaching his best friends ready to overlap both of them. It moves as fast as 6 degree per second.
Thirty seconds more...
I stare at the clock doing a countdown for my birthday.
Fifteen seconds...
Ten seconds...
Five...
Four...
Three...
Two...
One...
Yay, Happy birthday to me...
Hmmmm...
Yay, Happy birthday to me...
Isn't something supposed to happen?
I got excited for no reason. Well! I guess that something will happen soon but not now.
I closed my eyes to get some sleep, but open it again when I notice something wrong.
The time had stopped. The hands of the clock stay unmoving, pointing at number twelve.
I think for a second whether to get off on my bed to check whether the battery if the clock was faulty or just sleep for now and deal with it tomorrow, but then decided that I should the latter option since I'm obviously tired.
Well! I'm confident that I would wake up early tomorrow just in time so I can cook for my slob relatives. I have a body clock after all.
With that thought in mind, I closed my eyes, letting sleep sway me as the sound of crickets drift me off to sle...
Wait...
It's unusually quiet. The sound of crickets can't even be heard. I hastily opened my eyes and notice something way wrong than the hands of the clock suddenly stop moving.
The time had been frozen. The time stopped, literally.
You may be wondering that maybe I was having delusion but I will tell you that I did not.
How can you explain that curtain that is in impossible position? It was as if a breeze blew the curtain and someone decided to take the picture of it. If that is not enough to convince you, then how about this?
Even though I have bad eyesight, I have really sharp eyes. If not for that, how can I see a small golden ball flying in the air as fast as a fly?
It was for this reason that I saw a fly floating in mid-air. I said floating, not flying. The house-fly is floating in mid-air with its semi-transparent wings suspended.
Damn, what is happening?!!
As if it was not strange enough, the air in front of me was sliced open before stretching, just enough to let a small figure to exit.
The small figure, about ten inches tall, wore a green blouse, a green long flowing skirt, green pointed boots and green pointed hat. She also had a green flower in her hand. Did I mention she also has green hair and green eyes? She even has green butterfly-like wings.
You wouldn't even need to ask what her favorite color is.
As for her facial features, you can describe her as a very beautiful young lady.
She looks like a fairy that came out of a book.
"Who are you?" I asked politely, neither raising my voice nor being a monotone. I didn't want to offend this fairy. If she was strong enough to stop time... I shudder at the thought at what she can do to inflict harm on me.
Though, she had no malicious intention. She's a fairy after all. And fairies are known to be benevolent beings, though mischievous. I'm sure she wouldn't harm me. I hope.
I forced myself to calm down.
"I am Liliana Gullveig, Keeper of Potter Family Heirloom," Liliana said in a professional and strict tone.
"Keeper of my family's heirloom?!" I asked.
Even though in this situation, as an Englishman, I should probably introduce myself. Heck, it doesn't even have anything to do with being an Englishman at all, with this powerful existence in front of me I should at least introduce myself.
But she said that she was related to my parents. Even though she said Potter Family and not exactly the name of my parents. Hey! My parents and I are of the Potter family after all. It sure is related.
Because of those damned Dursleys, I'm like a starving wolf hungry for anything to link me to my parents.
"Yes, Harry James Potter, I have been safeguarding your family treasure for generation after generation, only to come out to test if the one who can use the treasure for its full potential have finally come to appear," she stated, now losing his business atmosphere.
At first when she mentioned that she had been safeguarding my family treasure, I immediately looked down while thinking, 'Is she the reason that it become this big?' But I forced my mind to clear the naughty thoughts and to comprehend her words.
Obviously, she knew my name, no sense in questioning that. But her last words...
"Then, the time you appear is when we become fourteen, right? And you're here to test me now. What exactly is this treasure?" I asked.
I hope it's something good. At least good enough to let me pass this year in Hogwarts without suffering serious pain.
"Very astute Harry James Potter. I had indeed come to test if you have the power to use the strongest artifact among worlds, the Mundi Anulum." She did compliment me in her first sentence with a smile but continued with her no non-sense attitude.
I don't know, but I can tell that she hoped that I can use whatever relic it is. There's even a sense of urgency. Even though her tone didn't change, I can somehow tell.
How odd!
"Mundi Anulum?!" I finally asked. Base from my limited Latin, it means World Ring.
Wait! It's not like the One Ring, right? From Lord of the Rings.
Just as I think of that I notice Liliana holding a ring in her two small hands.
Wait, wasn't she holding a green flower in her hand. When did she switch it? I didn't notice at all. After thinking about it, I really didn't care. I went back to observing the ring.
The ring's appearance isn't that much special. The ring's size is enough for an average human finger. It didn't have any design. The only remarkable fact is that it resembles the One Ring in Lord of the Rings, though it didn't have strange carvings in its inner layer. Though you probably wouldn't even mistaken it in that series because the ring color is obviously wrong.
It's green
I looked at Liliana suspiciously. Did it really have to be green?
She hand me the ring. I inspected it.
It's made of some kind of metal but nothing special. I can't even feel any presence of magic from it.
"Wear it," this time, her tone cracked a bit. I can finally fully sense her urgency.
Without any more prompting I wear the green ring. There's not even an ounce of doubt in my mind. I know that the ring and Liliana will not cause me any harm. For some reason, I trust her.
As I firmly place the ring in my right hand ring finger, a surge of magic and power coursed through my body. I feel so... so powerful. I felt confidence brimming inside my body. With this power I can control the world.
...
Well that was what I had expected. But nothing happened. Absolutely nothing.
"Do we need to perform a ceremony or something?... Does it need a drop of my blood?"
I mumbled the last part. In the magical world, blood has a lot of uses. Blood is a powerful reagent for magic. It can be used to forcefully bind someone. Sometimes it is even used to awaken certain relics. So it is best to look after your blood carefully.
"No, the fact that you are able to wear the ring is proof enough that you're the master of the ring. Just turn it three times to activate it's power," she said. Even though, her ice-cold demeanor remained, I can feel that she's happy.
I smiled.
"Clockwise or counter-clockwise?" I asked, remembering my potion lessons. Even though, to this day I can't still quite comprehend why you need to stir the potion in the right direction.
"Just rotate it," Liliana finally snapped, finally losing her patience.
I may have sounded a bit cheeky just now.
"Okay, okay. Sorry Liliana," I placated her. Though, I didn't why I called her name in somewhat flirty way. Am I attracted to her?
I rotated the ring once and you can see that Liliana's eyes sparkle.
I rotated it the second time and for the first time, I see her smile. Damn, she's so beautiful at the same time cute.
I rotated it thrice.
"See you later, Harry James Potter," Liliana said with a smile before she vanished.
