Chapter Text
Johnathan sighs, letting out smoke and watching it circle the ceiling of Argyle’s van for the mattress he was laying on. He wraps his fluffy red tail against his stomach, comfortably numb. Johnathan only turns when he hears a low chuckle.
“Dude, you look comfortable as hell,” Argyle smirks, long ears flat against his head as they often were when he was high.
The red panda hybrid shrugs and smiles back, “this new stuff is nice.”
“Only the premium stuff for my brochaco,” the rabbit hybrid takes a puff of the blunt Johnathan has handed him, moving to lay down next to him and pass it back.
Johnathan stops to look at his friend for a
moment, admiring how his long hair slightly covered his face and his raven colored ears slightly twitched against his head.
It was only recently he realized he might just like Argyle as more than a friend, and it scared him. He had never really found himself finding men attractive, sure he thought Steve Harrington was good looking but, didn’t everyone? The dog hybrid was practically everyone's dream date, but also every guy’s competition, no one could compete with hair like that.
“Hey, you okay man? “ Argyle’s voice breaks his thoughts.
Johnathan blinks and looks down, realizing that his tail was waving fast against him. His cheeks turn red and he quickly grabs his tail to stop it, “u-uh, yeah, just mellowing out.”
“Whatever you say man, I’m hitting the hay,” he shrugs and turns over, pulling the cover over his shoulder.
Johnathan breathes an ‘okay’ before turning as well, still hugging his tail close as he reaches over to a nearby ash tray to put out the blunt. He sighs in relief, resting his face in the fur of his tail.
Okay, so there was no doubt he really liked Argyle as more than a friend. But it was weird wasn’t it? It’s not like he couldn’t tell the other about him questioning his sexuality, he was comfortable around him and could tell him anything. Telling Argyle he had a crush on him was a completely different story though.
Maybe he could tell him though, maybe. He would eventually.
