Notes:

I love fluff and this is my first attempt at writing, thanks to the plot from Shared Walls (https://archiveofourown.org/works/7675789) and inspiration from one of the comments on Chapter 14 by Mac.
If you have read similar stuff somewhere before, I take the whole responsibility.

Work Text:

After a long and busy week for both of them, Seb and Kimi finally had time to go out and fulfill the long overdue promise of a romantic first date.

On one of the nights before, they discussed where should be the perfect destination for their first official date. Since their "first kiss" took place on a race track, Seb hinted at it as an ideal place for Kimi in a very subtle manner.

"I would love to take a shotgun on your ford escort", maybe not subtle enough, but for Seb it was an amazing experience and he was hoping that he could drive it for a round himself.

"Nah, there's something wrong with the chassis last time when I drove and I haven't done anything yet. I don't want to risk it."

"Schade."

"Don’t worry about it, I'll spare some time to fix it and let you go for a ride."

"I'd love that." The silence settled between them again.

Staring at the hockey game on TV blankly, Kimi asked Seb, "Do you wanna go for skating?"

Mulling over the out-of-nowhere yet connected question, Seb was excited and worried at the same time. As he recalled, his last skating experience could be traced back five years ago. He ended up with a broken tailbone, lying in bed and not doing anything for two months. Fortunately enough, he was on summer vacation, so no one besides his family and close friends knew. Despite all the painfulness, he believed that if he were careful enough and wore protective gear this time, he should be fine.

"Yeah, sounds great," Seb said nervously.

As if Kimi can actually hear the fear in his voice, the Finn steered from the TV to look at the younger man.

"Then why are you shivering?" He smirked.

"No I'm not!" Seb turned away irritatedly and declined to meet the older man's eyes. Why can he always see him through like a child in front of their parent? Although he hated to admit, he actually enjoy his maturity and tenderness because of the age difference.

"Seb, look at me." He turned his chin towards him. "I only suggest it because it is running on TV, if you are scared then we'll come up with another activity that we can do together."

"I was a little scared but I trust you." Seb broke a smile on his face. "I assume you won't let me fall right?"

Seeing his boyfriend's defense down, Kimi laughed, with little wrinkles appearing around his eyes. Damn that's what I fell for, cursed Seb secretly.

The next day, after his last seminar, Seb hurried to get out of the uni, leaving all the due papers and group work behind. He was supposed to meet his boyfriend at the skating rink in 15 minutes, everything else can wait till next week.

When he rushed to the gate, the Finn was already there waiting for him. It was cold, but apparently Kimi didn’t think so. Unlike everyone else, Kimi wasn’t wearing a scarf nor beanie, so his blonde hair literally stood out from the crowd and Seb spotted him immediately. While walking toward his boyfriend, Seb noticed other people staring at him. As much as his friends had joked about Kimi's "slob" look from the photo, Kimi is gorgeous and that's a fact even random people agree to, Seb thought secretly and possessively.

"Hey." As Seb approached, Kimi leaned in with a quick kiss on the lips. The German looked like a teenager with that beanie and backpack, which made Kimi want to cuddle him and skipped the skate part instead. Usually being the proactive one, Seb flushed, shyly replied with a "hi", and quickly dragged his boyfriend into the skating park. Kimi was slightly disappointed by the younger man's stiffness, but led the way to the outdoor rink anyway.

The ground was not packed, only small crowds scattered here and there. After learning that there was no protective gear, Seb flinched a bit, but decided to brace himself up and trusted Kimi wholeheartedly since he didn't want to leave the rink like that. His boyfriend had apparently noticed his hesitation, but decided not to unveil the fear after all. And as a quasi-expert on ice, Kimi was confident that he can catch him before he fell.

As they stepped on the ice, Seb tried to stand on his own feet because he believed that after a few fumbling moves, his muscle memory will come back, then he can fake it as a pro and enjoy this rendezvous with his boyfriend. Maybe it was his illusion, or he was getting too attached to the warmth of his boyfriend's palm, Seb found Kimi way too protective and unwilling to let go.

"Schatz I think I'm ok with standing alone, I can stroll against the safety guard," Seb said softly, as if Kimi will be irritated when he detached his hand from him.

"NO, at least after this round." Kimi insisted.

"But I want to see you skate." Deep down Seb actually felt relieved that Kimi didn't find holding him a burden.

"Not until I'm assured," Seb swore he's never been attracted to a man of few words this bad.

Although not very athletic, Seb managed to keep his balance and followed Kimi for a few rounds. The moment Kimi decided to release his hand, his younger boyfriend literally flew away like an unleashed puppy. Watching his curls fly under the beanie, Kimi chuckled secretly and started to chase Seb, as he saw Seb almost fall to the ground but saved it from a very clumsy move. That’s a little dumb, but cute also, Kimi thought.

Shortly afterward, their speediness attracted a few people's attention. Seb even noticed some passerby stole a few glances at his boyfriend, which was supposed not to bother him, because he was all Kimi’s focused on. But still, it made him proud and possessive at the same time. Then Seb had made a decision that he would regret for at least 2 months, again. Yep, he turned around to face his boyfriend and started to skate backward.

“Hey showoff, that’s dangerous!” Kimi shouted, which was seemingly rare.

“Then come and get me,” Seb replied cheekily.

Kimi started to accelerate. The concentrated look in his eyes, and the blonde hair in the air, omg that hair literally made Seb’s heart skip a bit, the appearance actually made Kimi at least 5 years younger. Dumbfounded by the Finn's stunning look, Seb slowed down and waited for him to approach. Seeing the German standing still, Kimi was relieved and slowed down his pace as well.

"Are you exhausted already, old man?" Seb asked with a giant grin on his innocent face.

"Eh." Kimi shrugged. But the little wrinkles around his eyes betrayed his fondness at the endearment, despite feeling a tiniest insulted.

The music in the background ironed out the last bit of his irritation.

Heaven is closer now today
The sound is in my ears
I can't believe the things you say
They echo what I fear

Feels like heaven
Feels like heaven

Dunno who put that on the jukebox, Seb thought, but thank youuuuu!

The romantic atmosphere between them quickly drove Seb skating toward Kimi. Looking directly at his boyfriend's encouraging eyes, he wanted to lay all the weight on his broad shoulders and claim there home. Just as he nearly got there, next things he saw were bridge and sky.

"Ouch!" Seb cried out loud, struggling to get up.

"Are you alright?" Kimi rushed to him, full of concern.

"I can still hear you holding your laughter," Seb didn't answer his question directly.

"Poor baby, do you want me to get you up?" Kimi teased him.

"If it's not a trouble for you," he replied annoyedly.

"You want me to kiss your boo boo away?" Kimi smirked, not realizing how hurt his boyfriend actually was.

"Laugh at me all you want," Seb felt a little bit ashamed in front of his quasi-pro boyfriend, "You are gonna carry me home or wherever the next stop of our date is."

After standing on his own feet, Seb felt a bit sore coming from his old fracture. Uh-oh, he thought, not again.

"I think we should call it." said his boyfriend in a very alarming tone this time.

"Now you're worried."

"I'm serious, need to take you to the clinic now."

"Relax, I had a fracture before, maybe it's just a flashback." Seb thought about giving it one sleep to see how it'll turn out tomorrow.

"What?" Kimi was clearly more agitated by this. Dragging Seb out of the rink like a mom to her child and shoving him into the car, Kimi scolded himself for not knowing the younger man's previous injury.

"Aw, I love how protective of me you are right now." The German clearly realized that he's been the cause of Kimi's disturbance but still teased to make him laugh. "Like a mama hen."

Kimi squinted at him, "Wait until we get back home, but first the clinic."

"Fine," Seb conceded. He hated the fact that he got a bit turned on by the older man's bossy attitude, while secretly expecting what he'll do to him when they get home.

When they arrived at the clinic, Kimi became even more irritated, because the waiting area was packed with injured and bleeding people.

"I think I look pretty unnecessary now, don't I?" Seb raised this eyebrow, suggesting they go home and enjoy the rest of the night in whatever way he wished.

"Very thin ice, Seb," Kimi answered grumpily.

"I'm just saying I could wait till tomorrow," Seb tried to soothe him, "if I'm not feeling well by then, I'll go wherever you take me."

"Then I won't be sleeping tonight," his boyfriend insisted, "Just do it for me, will you?"

"Fine." Seb sighed and rubbed his face against his boyfriend's shoulder. Sue him so if he couldn’t get enough of the scent of musk mixed with laundry detergent from his sweater, as long as Kimi didn't flinch, and instead wrapped him around his arm.

They've stayed like that for a while and enjoyed the silent warmth, only disrupted by a deep male voice in a very charming accent.

"We’ve got a Mr. Vettel here?"

"Ok, up you go." Kimi patted on Seb's shoulder and helped him get up from the seat.

"Ah, here he is," the doctor greeted, offering them firm handshakes.

Seb shot a glimpse at the doctor's name tag, Dr. James Hunt. Despite the workload and late shift, he seemed really passionate about his job. Most importantly, he looked amazing, tall and blonde, just like some actor from those 20th century black and white movies. But the pondering look on his gorgeous face when he exchanged eye contact with Kimi had triggered Seb's uneasiness.

Following the doctor's lead to the consulting room, Seb secretly resented that his outfit made him look like a teenager, no matter how extremely adorable his boyfriend found them.

"So according to the registration, you have a fractured tailbone?" The doctor examined Seb's hip carefully and made him flush.

"Just a suspected one," Seb clarified, "I'm here just to reassure my boyfriend."

"You had an actual one years before, don't pretend it's no big deal." Kimi got impatient at how the younger man underplayed his syndrome.

"Listen to him," He smiled at Kimi as approval and lingered, "I will prescribe you an X-ray and we'll see." Though out of professional reason, it pissed Seb off a little bit that the doctor took his boyfriend's side.

Once the check was completed, Seb came back to the consulting room alone with the report. The doctor, looking surprised to see him all by himself, asked about the whereabouts of his boyfriend.

"You know what, I was wondering the same thing." Seb handed him the report a little sullenly. It was actually his idea to hide Kimi away because he insisted that the hunch did not come out of nowhere. "You are being ridiculous," is what Kimi said after learning the cause of Seb's fidget, but he went to the café for a quick bite just to obey Seb's order anyway.

"Well, according to the report, you do not have a fracture." The doctor took a thorough look at the film.

Just then, there was a knock at the door. The doctor said "come in" and entered his boyfriend, as he circled back from the café. Busy passing a bottle of water to his boyfriend, he didn't notice the doctor's enlightened look.

But Seb did, so he cleared his throat and told Kimi that he didn't have a fracture, and he was worried about nothing.

"Well.." the doctor cut in, "There's no obvious evidence of a fracture, but you fell pretty heavily as your boyfriend described. A coccyx usually consists of 3 to 5 segments, yours look like a bad alignment according to the film."

"Fine," Seb sounded discouraged, because he knew that he will be lying in bed for another 2 months like last time.

"I'll prescribe you some ibuprofen just for preventive use." The doc typed something on his computer, "And don't sit on anything for too long without a soft cushion on it."

"Don't worry I'll take a break to look after you." Kimi squeezed his boyfriend's shoulder fondly, feeling guilty since he brought up the whole skating idea.

"Nah, it's fine." Seb looked at him softly, "I'm experienced in the recovery process."

"If you can ask for a day or two of time off from work, that'll be great," the doctor interrupted their conversation, "teenager here looks like he won't listen to any of my advice."

"I'm not a teenager just so you know," Seb glared at him, with that jealousy held before, he was about to have a serious discussion about why he deliberately embarrassed him in front of his boyfriend.

"Seb, it's fine." Kimi chuckled and held him closer to suppress the anger. "Ok, doc. I will take a few days off to keep an eye on him."

"Speaking of which," the interest of the doctor lit up, "I'm curious about your occupation. I assume you model, don't you?"

Lame, the younger man thought.

"No, I'm a mechanic." Kimi laughed dryly and turned to his boyfriend, "I just need to swing by the shop after tuck you in bed."

"Oh, then I must send my Mini Cooper to your shop for a check." The doc said excitingly, "There's this noise every time I start the engine…"

"Ok," Seb stopped Dr. Hunt's plea, or a pickup, "if there's nothing else we'll leave you with other patients."

"Oh wait," the doctor got back to his business, "I'll arrange a follow-up appointment for you in a month, to check your recovery process."

"Thanks, doctor." Kimi smiled politely, mostly on Seb's behalf, because the younger man crossed his arms and literally looked like a grumpy teenager right now.

"Anytime." The doctor flashed a dazzling smile to his boyfriend before exiting the room.

"You don't have to be rude to the doctor, Seb." Kimi said on their way back home.

"Seriously?" the younger man exasperated, "He's totally hitting on you, I wonder how oblivious can you be."

"I was oblivious at first but realized when he asked me whether I model for a living." Kimi giggled and glanced at Seb while waiting for the light turning green.

"Then you just let him embarrass me in front of you, huh?" Kimi didn't expect a reverse effect from his confession.

Kimi leaned in, stole a kiss from his crabby boyfriend before started driving. "Why are you so upset about it, it's not like I promise to fix his car or anything."

"Look at him! How can you not fall for that?" Seb blurted it out, "Even I blushed a bit when he called me a teenager."

"Ah-huh." Kimi laughed out loud this time, eyes on the road, "So you're angry at yourself."

"I guess I'm just pissed when other people find you attractive too."

Kimi was startled by Seb's honesty as well as his insecurity, and decided to prove to him in every possible way he can think of. "You know what, Sebi, don't be. You know I too, find you super attractive regardless your juvenile appearance."

Seb glared at the Finn for taking the doctor's side about the whole teenager thing. "That's it, I'm losing the beanie and the hoodie."

"I'm kidding, I like the outfit as long as you're wearing it."

Upon their arrival, Kimi carefully took Seb out of the car and carried him on his back.

"I'm not that delicate Schatz." Seb grinned, still laying all the weight on his boyfriend and devoured the nice scent on the back of his neck.

"You don’t know that," Kimi said cheekily and walked past the front porch, "Plus I want to indulge you."

"I have something else in my head." the younger man said in a evocative tone.

"Not today I'm afraid," Kimi felt cruel to say no to that face, "but hopefully won't for too long."

"Fine," Seb was reassured by Kimi's promise. "Can we make out then?"

"Sure Sebi."

Notes:

This is basically completed, but I feel my writing is too bland, if you have any suggestions to improve it, please write to me!

As I wrote the tailbone part from my own experience, the doctor prescribed me one X-ray. When I started to write this, I learned from the internet that it is not necessary, but I didn't rule it out, just to not mess up my plot design ; D

If anyone is interested, the song on the ice rink is from (Feels Like) Heaven - Fiction Factory , an inspiration I got when I watched him and Charles in "Guess the song" challenge.
