It was a warm summer night. James and Sirius made plans to got to the movie theatre that night. Sirius had to cancel his plans on a short notice, so there was James now, alone in the line at the cinema. ‘He could’ve taken Peter with him, but that’s to late now’, he thought. The line moved and it was James’ turn. “Next please.”, the guy behind the register said. “For what movie are you here today?”, the guy said, he looked a bit younger than James. He had ice-blue eyes and black, curly hair and very pale white skin, overall, the guy reminded him a lot of Sirius. “I have a ticket for 10 things I hate about you. Row 10 seat 5.”, James said, skimming his ticket. “Alright, what do you want to eat?”, the guy said, the nametag on his jacket saying ‘Reggie’. “I’ll take one small popcorn, sweet and salty mixed with one medium sized coke, please.”, James said, still eyeing ‘Reggie’, “That’s 10 pounds then. Have fun in the movie.”, Reggie said, his eyes not leaving James as he walked away. James couldn't NOT notice.
Even when the movie began, the cute guy wouldn't leave James' mind. He tried focusing on the movie, but he still hadn’t left his mind. After the movie James waited till the majority of the people left, hoping ‘Reggie’ would still be there. In hope he would talk to the guy, he left his wallet in his seat and left the movie theatre. Stepping into the lobby he was scanning the room for the boy. There he was, behind the counter on his phone texting someone. “May I help you with anything?”, a person behind him asked. James turned around: “Oh yeah, I think I left my wallet on the seat on my way out.” He said while scratching the back of his head. ‘Reggie’ turned his head towards James when he heard his voice. “Oh, too bad I don't have the right keys on me right now... But Reg can help you out, he’s behind that counter.”, the girl said, whose name turned out to be Dorcas. “Uh- I sure can. Follow me right along.”, Reg said slightly blushing, eyeing Dorcas with a ‘why'd you have to do that?’ look.
“Soo how'd you like the movie?”, Reg asked. “I liked it, I really enjoy it when they show movies that haven't been showed in a while.”, James answered his heart beating fast. ‘You met this guy like 2 hours ago! Calm down James!’, he thought. “You sat in row 10, right?”, Reg asked. “Yup. Oh look, there's my wallet. Thanks a lot.”, James said. As he tried to leave, he tripped over a stair and fell on Reg. To James' surprise he was caught by two arms. “Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I should've watched my step.”, James said, his face turning red from embarrassment. “No- no worries.”, Reg stuttered, trying to hide the slight blush on his cheek. As they walked back out, they started talking again: “What can I do for you for catching me?”, James asked. “Nothing! That’s the bare minimum that I could’ve done!”, Reg insisted.
“Reg, we’re done for today then, we’re ending the shift early!”, Dorcas said as the two boys walked in the lobby. “Alright then, see you tomorrow!”, Reg said waving to her while walking out. “Can I ask you something?”, Reg asked looking at James outside of the movie theatre. “Yeah sure.”, James said. “What’s your name?” Reggie asked, closing the zipper of his jacket. “Oh, I’m James. Sorry I didn’t mention this before.”, James said, a bit embarrassed. “No worries, do you have a ride home? I wouldn’t sit right with me if I knew someone had to walk alone at night.”, Regulus said, searching for his car keys. “I was going to take the bus home, thanks. I think I’ll be fine.” James said. “Oh, okay. I could give you a ride. Where do you have to go?”, he asked. “I live in Kings Street, it’s right around the corner basically, I’ll be fine.”, James said looking at the boy more distinctively. “Oh no, I insist, it’s right on my way home.”; he said, directing James in the direction of the parking space. “If you insist.”, James said, trying to sound unbothered, when he was dying inside.
“I know how you could thank me for tonight.”, Reg said as they were turning around the corner to Kings Street. “And what would that be?”, James asked in a slight flirtatious tone, because why not. “You can give me your Snapchat and we can meet again sometime.”, Reg said, “which house is yours?” “The next one, also are you trying to overplay that you just asked me out?”, James laughed. “Uh maybe, are you not- “, Reg started. “Oh- no I am- I do. Yes, I’d like to go out with me. My Snap is Jamesfp.”, James said laughing even more. “See you then Reggie.”, James said, leaving the car. As he opened the door he waved to Reggie and entered the building.
