Just like any other Sunday the Nishimura’s found themselves at the beach. A fond memory for Niki was going to the beach with his sisters on the weekends, so when he found out he was going to be father he dreamt of the day they may go as well.
Niki would try to go out to the beach nearly every weekend even with Sunoo constant complaining.
Sunoo would pretend to hate going to the beach. There’s sand everywhere and it never washes off, the salt would make his hair feel gross and other silly little reasons for his dislike of the place. But deep down seeing his husband at peak happiness whilst playing amongst the waves convinced him every time.
The weather was warming up as summer crept along which made for a nice day for some fun.
“Niki have you gotten all of Niko’s stuff ready?”
“Already in the car along with all off our stuff,” he replied.
A quick kiss was shared and the family was off to the beach.
Sunoo always says his favourite part of the beach was the drive. It was peaceful getting to look at the scenery passing by and not caring about anything that normally troubled his mind. Plus showing Niko all the cool parts of nature and the outside world always made his heart pang.
They arrived to see a fairly empty beach, only a few families here and there. Which was great as crowded places are not Sunoo’s deal.
Like usual Niki would grab there belongings and Sunoo would grab Niko. A quick look before plonking down on the patch of sand that looked best and the family were ready for the fun to start.
“You best be putting sunscreen on mister, I will not have a repeat of last time,” Sunoo scolded. Which is definitely deserved when you see your husband enter the door red raw from forgetting to wear sunscreen.
“Of course, I must set a good example for Niko anyway,” Niki replied.
Sunoo just chuckled and begins to apply sunscreen to his sons face.
After they are all finally sun-safe Niki takes Niko down to the water. They remained in the very shallow as Niko is just 1 year old. Though even with his young age it was clear to see that the kid had inherited his fathers love for the sea.
He was always splashing around with the cutest smile anyone had ever seen. And in classic parent fashion Sunoo would snap a million photos.
Sunoo had joined the boys in the water, but he preferred to sit in a little deeper then splash on the edges. Niko like to pick up sand and throw it as far as his little arms could. And much to Niko’s dismay the parents always try to see if he could float, of course being as safe as possible.
Lunch time rolled around and they were now sat back at their belongings. Sunoo had made them sandwiches and brought some baby food and fruits for Niko.
“Niko is it yummy?” Niki asked with a playful look on his face. The kid just giggled and smiled.
Niko crawled over to Sunoo’s lap and handed him the fruit.
“Appa~” the kid pointed at the fruit and then to his mouth. Sunoo slowly feed him the piece of fruit.
“He can definitely feed him self yet he still prefers his Appa feeding it to him,” Niki laughed.
“It means he loves me plus I’m not gonna complain when I know one day he will grow to big for be to feed him.” Sunoo smiled at his husband.
Niki never really liked to think about the fact that his cute little baby will one day grow up and will be able to fend for himself. He knows there is no avoiding it either so both he and Sunoo like to live every moment they can and cherish every minute.
After lunch they moved on to making sandcastles. Even with Sunoo’s incredible hatred for sand he would never pass up the opportunity to build one with Niko.
Niki had taken one of Niko’s buckets and began building his own sandcastle. Though it was more like a kingdom. He had built small buildings and large ones, even a giant actual castle in the middle and to top it all off a cute little moat protecting his kingdom.
“Hyung look,” Niki pointed to his little sand kingdom.
“My god that’s crazy,” Sunoo smirked before continuing, “No need to show off,”
Niki merely laughed and planted a sweet kiss on Sunoo’s forehead.
Afternoon slowly started fading to night and they had decided they’d had enough. The gear already packed away in the car and little Niko asleep in Niki’s arms.
Just like the drive there, the drive back was beautiful and peaceful, the way Sunoo liked it.
Entering home they first washed up Niko and put him down for bed then to their own bed for some nice relaxation.
“You have fun today?” Sunoo asked.
“You have no idea. Thanks for always coming with me even if it isn’t your favourite place.” Niki stated, though it was more like a whisper as he began to doze off.
“Any place with you is my favourite place.”
A soft kiss to Niki’s lips and he was asleep. And with that Sunoo, cuddled into his chest, escaped off to dream land with his husband.
