mika's eyes are suddenly opened. he looked to his alarm clock at his bedside table. it's 3:27 am, he had woken up in the middle of his sleep again. his body feels so cold but the boy didn't mind it. he grunts and tries to get back to sleep.
kagehira mika wasn't in a good mood this week. his head is filled to the brim with stress and pressure for the upcoming S1. it's overwhelming for any 3rd year to think about, but mika's story is entirely different. he didn't want to hold back his oshi-san, he wants his oshi-san's art to be noticed by the public, he really wants to make his oshi-san proud of him.
the boy had failed to doze off. of course he did. mika pulled on his hair slightly out of frustration and burried his face on the palm of his hands. mika isn't having any of this, he only wanted to get his rest.
the boy suddenly felt his stomach twist. oh god. why now out of all times. he ran to the bathroom as his vision starts to blur.
he threw up. it was so messy, eugh.
shu has always been a light sleeper, something's happening in the bathroom. he opened his eyes and got out of his room, while slowly gaining his consciousness. when he realized that mika was throwing up, his switch flipped. shu worrily ran to the bathroom.
"kagehira? is everything alright?"
"n-ngah oshi-san... i'm fine, ya don't have to worry about me-"
he threw up again, hands clutching to the toilet seat. this is a somewhat-regular occurance with mika and his acid reflux. he always throws up his stomach when he gets stressed. it's a curse, really, but his oshi-san is always right beside him when it happens. mika sees it as both a blessing and a curse.
"shh, kagehira, it is alright. let it out" shu said, while patting mika's back with tender love and care. mika lets out heavy breaths, signaling that he had finished. shu pats mika's back one last time as he gets up. "kagehira, wait here and clean up your face. i'll go and fetch you some warm water." shu whispers. mika nods and starts to clean himself up.
when he had finished; mika walks over to the kitchen, face sinked to his small towel. shu's there preparing a cup of warm water and pepto bismol for mika.
"drink this." shu ordered.
mika grabbed the cup and brings it up to his lips, sipping on his water slowly. his mouth still tastes of throw up, he tries to ignore this. shu caressed mika's back tenderly, comforting him.
"nnah, sorry for disturbing you at this hour. i didn't mean t'wake you up." mika blurted out. the taller boy could only look at mika as he prepares the medicine. shu measures out the pepto bismol, as he brings it up to mika's lips. mika could feel his face heat up from this gesture and swallows the medicine.
"it's fine, kagehira. there's no reason for you to apologize." shu replied, putting off the spoon on the counter. shu grabs mika's hand, guiding him back into his room.
mika sat on his bed, followed by his oshi-san who sat next to him. shu is still holding mika's hand, massaging it slightly.
mika smiles and enjoys the attention and care he's receiving. he can feel his heartbeat slowly getting back to normal. they stayed like this for a moment before one of the boys broke the silence.
"something in your mind? i can lend you an ear, kagehira." shu practically whispers. mika sighs in response.
"nngh oshi-san, can we lay down first?" mika asks, rubbing his eyes with his left hand. shu nods and lets go of mika's right hand for a moment to adjust himself. when mika had laid down on his bed, mika replied.
"mmh.. was just a bit stressed out, that's all. i guess i've been thinkin 'bout our upcoming S1 performance too much, heh." mika answers, his voice softer than silk. shu sat next to mika and runs his lanky fingertips through the dark haired boy, massaging his head.
"what if i'm holding you back, oshi-san?" mika stated, playing with his pajama buttons.
shu looked at mika with eyes full of guilt. he tries to reassure mika that he isn't holding him back. shu loves mika. he has always loved mika (and nazuna), but he doesn't understand how harmful his display of love towards his unit members in the past.
"aih, mika. you know you're not holding me back." shu takes a pause, carefully wording the next sentences that are about to leave his mouth.
"valkyrie would be nothing without you, kagehira. have i ever told you about how your dances never fail to amaze me? how your singing voice always leave me speechless?" shu spoke as he continues to stroke mika's head.
mika stares at shu, cheeks tinted red. he was caught off guard by shu's sudden compliments.
"you're truly irreplaceable, kagehira. you've never left my side even at my lowest. you're my partner, kagehira. you're my equal. valkyrie would be nothing without you. i would be nothing without you." the words leave shu's mouth so softly.
mika stared at shu's eyes in silence, still trying to process the sudden praise he was given. his eyes lit up and his worries melted away. he held shu's hand and tugs on them ever so slightly.
"ngah oshi-san... you're truly too kind. thank ya for bein' here for me, i r'lly dunno what t'say." mika thanked him, tears forming in his eyes. "i don't know how i'd end up without ya, oshi-san" he added.
shu's face beams of relief. a slight smile formed on his face.
"alright, kagehira. it's the least i could do for the kindness you've given me. you should get some rest now, i'll be in my room if you need me." shu said, combing through mika's hair for the last time before getting up and walking to the door.
mika pouts, he's already missing shu's hand on his hair.
"oshi-san, wait...!" mika half screamed before his oshi-san could touch the door handle. shu stops his movement to face kagehira, full of confusion. shu opens his lips.
"what is it, kagehira?" shu asks gently, walking back to mika. mika looks up but avoids direct eye contact with shu, his hands jitters nervously.
"nngh oshi-san, is it okay if ya stay here for t'night? i feel a bit cold and yer hands 're warm." mika asks, rubbing his hands againts each other. he felt embarrassment creeping onto him, he wants to pass out on the spot.
shu let's out a breath, smiling and nodding. mika smiled back at the taller boy. mika loves when shu smiles, it's soft and comforting.
shu walked back over to mika, climbing onto his bed and lifting his soft-cream-colored duvet. shu layed down next to mika. their faces are inches apart, shu caresses mika's cheek with love and tenderness.
mika could feel his stomach twist again, in a good way this time. shu leaned to the other boy's forehead.
"kagehira, may i?" shu asks, hand still on mika's cheeks. mika could feel the taller one's heartbeat, it was racing along his own. mika leans a bit closer to shu, just enough to signal him yes. "oshi-san..." mika replied.
shu leans in and planted a kiss on mika's forehead, it was quick but both of them treasures it dearly. mika could feel his eyes growing heavier by the second. shu held mika's hand and gave him another light massage, starting to grow a tiredness of his own. it wasn't long until mika finally closed his eyes and drifted off.
shu brings mika's hand to his lips and kisses his fingertips lightly. shu takes another glance on the boy sleeping next to him. a light shade of pink paints over his own face, heartbeat still fast.
"goodnight, kagehira." shu whispers before falling into his own slumber.
