Ever since Levi was in middle school he has been infatuated with Hange Zoe, he doesn’t understand why but her bright smile and positive personality is something he wishes he had but with no father and his mother being bed ridden for many years it was hard sometimes. So he would seclude himself from other students as he seen that most of them were bullies and he wouldn’t associate with them. Until one day he saw her playing with mud on the ground and even though it would make her dirty she was still content, it was crazy! So he mustered up some courage and walked over to see what the heck she was doing. As he got closer, he saw that she was molding something? “Oi, what are you doing don’t you know your clothes will get dirty if you stay there like that?” Levi said while trying not to sound nervous… After a minute she got up and he with a curious look saw it looked sort of like a house. Then out of nowhere she spoke, “ In my book it said that Egyptians would build houses out of mud so I wanted to see if it was possible, although I did use a couple of bricks to help make it, looks like they were right.” “Yeah, looks like it works glasses, but now look your filthy… come here you have mud on your face.” He said with some concern. She approached him slowly to test him, see if this boy she just met was trustworthy. Seemed he was, “My names not glasses shorty, its Zoe, Hange Zoe, what’s yours?” As she got a little closer Levi took out his handkerchief and started wiping the mud that was on her face and said, “Uhm... its Levi, just Levi. Now come on before the bell rings, oh you should clean your hands too.” “Well, Levi hope to see you around I never really noticed you before.” “I literally sit behind you.” Then she starts laughing for what Levi seems is no reason and he feels his mouth softly smile, maybe hanging out with someone won’t be so bad now.
Now its High School and now his mother is feeling healthy now, all thanks to Levi’s Uncle and Kuchel’s brother Kenny who came out essentially as quick as he could once he heard of his sister’s poor health. With the money he made doing things which shall not be named, He took them out of the ransack apartment Levi and her lived in and got them a new house. One not so big but better than that excuse of a living space. Levi was getting happier now and with the help of Hange he started making new friends and becoming best friends with his neighbors Furlan and Isabel, who evidently also ended up going to the same school as him, Sina High School. He also made friends with A tall hairy boy(who you could call a man) named Mike, and his friends who stuck with him, Nanaba (she’s one of Hange’s closest friends besides Levi), Petra, Oluo, Eld and a person who’s a grade over all of them Erwin whom Levi had taken a massive respect while hanging with them. And while he liked all of them it seemed that there was something entirely different that he felt with Hange and it took until his junior year to finally realize that he just didn’t want to be friends with Hange, he wanted something more. To be together, and since he wasn’t able to make it to Prom that year due to family issues, he made it his task to not only reveal his feelings to Hange, but also ask her to prom.
Levi could’ve asked Erwin but he already graduated and was doing college in another city he needed someone to talk to face to face. He would go to Mike but he wasn’t as close to Hange as someone like Nanaba, so before class that day he quickly went up to Nanaba who was talking to Hange and slipped a note to her that said. Oi, can you met me by the bleachers after my soccer practice I need help with something, Levi. “Sure Levi, see you then” Nanaba said and right as she finished he nodded and left quick as possible so that Hange wouldn’t ask questions, to bad she likes to be a detective sometimes. “Whats the note say?” Hange asked with a eyebrow raised in a comedic way. Nanaba quickly rips it up and says “Nun-ya Levi needs something probably needs help with Homework or something. “Aww, he usually asks me for help with that!” Nanaba quickly changes the subject as the bell rings and the school day starts.
With soccer practice now over Levi could now put his focus on what he was gonna ask Nanaba and while 5% of his brain was thinking she wouldn’t help him the other 95% had hope that she would. As he saw her on the bleachers he walked to her and she smiled and asked “Now what was it you needed Levi, if you need help with the econ homework I left my book at Mike’s house, but anything else I got you!” “Why would I ever ask you for help on homework you know Hange would flip out.” He said a little quiet trying to get his breath back, he was honestly nervous because only he knew about his crush on Hange. “Um, I actually need your help with something, it has to do with prom… I want to ask Hange to be my date and before you ask why here's why.” He stood up and got as confident as he could and said “ I don’t know what it is but she makes me feel a certain type of way, I just want to be near her I want to help her as she helped me when I was younger, I also… want to hold her and maybe kiss her… a little though not to much so she doesn’t get scared”. “I figured you could help me come up with an idea or somethi-” “YOU SOLD ME ALREADY AHHHH YOU LIKE HANGE WHO WOULD’VE GUESSED”. She hugged him and he accepted then quietly said “Please help me I don’t want her to go with that nerd Zeke.” “Trust me Levi when she see’s what you and I have planned she’ll have to say yes. But first I want you do something, scream.” “Scream what.” Levi said as he looked at her with a question mark forming in his head. Then Nanaba told him of an old legend where if you scream from the tallest point of the bleachers, it’ll give you good karma. So hesitantly went up and said, “Hange please accept me… I love you more than words can say!!!” Nanaba looked at him and she was getting unreasonable happy and wished for his prayers to be heard.
“Alright so what should I do a sign? Get her some flowers maybe? I don’t know help me here Nana...” “What’d you say Levi?” Nanaba said mischievously and he got a little embarrassed, “Sorry I just hear Hange call you that sometimes I’ll stop... sorry.” “It’s Okay Levi don’t worry we’re friends right and only friends can call me that.” He closed his eyes and thanked the heavens he had such good friends. Nanaba then said “Well first things first we need a timetable and honestly, I think we can get this done in 2 days tops! Today we’ll use for coming up with ideas and what ur gonna wear, and tomorrow we’ll get the sign up and running and you should buy her flowers and maybe some chocolate. You know she likes her sweets” Levi started nodding and jotting notes into his notebooks to remember what he needs but how could he forgot he felt over the moon right now. Then he said “What should the sign say, like… Wanna go to prom?” “ You could do that but you should get creative you know Hange likes her puns and you could throw a science joke in there.” “ Yup she definitely does as for apparel, should I wear the usual I mean I know don’t wear casual but how fancy should I go?” As Levi said that his mom quietly overhearing the conversation told him “You should wear something nice with a tie Levi, honey. Who’s the lucky lady anyone?” Levi’s eyes opened wide as he wasn’t really trying to involve anyone else, but he figured his mom should know. “Uhh, its Hange momma” “AHHHHHHH!!! I was wondering when you’d finally do it I’m so happy for you she’ll definitely say yes, her mom told me she’s very fond of you Levi.” Levi started blushing deeply and shoed his mom out of his room as she handed lemonade to Nanaba and a Tea for Levi. “Sorry about that she gets excited about these things, I don’t blame her”. Kuchel never got to have that experience as she was Pregnant with Levi her senior year and had to take a job as soon as possible, and the father(whoever it was) had moved away presumably on purpose. And even with all the hardships of she would always adore her son he’s the only reason she keeps going, and Levi knows that and he’s thankful for her.
The sign was now done and read “Hange I have a theory that you’ll go to prom with me, how about we go and turn it into a fact? Prom?” He somehow thought it up while he was dreaming last night and told Nanaba he filled the paper with question marks and a red background. He decided he was going to wear brown pants, a white buttoned up with dark brown Alfani’s and burgundy tie. He then decided he would do it at the end of the day to give him time to get the flowers he ordered delivered by his mother to the school and some chocolate of course. And Mike would hold the sign while Nanaba would record and hold the flowers while Levi brought Hange to the tables by the lunchroom where his and her friends would wait. As he was walking back though he felt a hand tug at his arm and bring him towards what he realized was the science lab/room. He then saw Hange who was staring at him looking a little agitated but also tired. “Levi where have you been? Its been like 3 days and I haven’t even heard from you!” “Sorry glasses I was caught up on some things and you know how practice is I always come home sore and tired.” He figured that was a good enough lie for now. “Well what’d you need from Nanaba then, don’t you usually come to me for help on homework.” He started laughing quietly and said “Of course it wasn’t homework I needed help with something I totally lost track of how long I’d last seen you I’m sorry, but you know I’m here now 4 eyes.” “I missed you, you know.” His heart starts beating loud as he realized that Hange’s hands were still holding on to his arm. He gets out of her grip softly and holds on to her cheeks and rubs them softly and says as soft “Ofc you know I missed you too, right? Or else what kind of friend would I be.” Hange then stares at Levi and smiles, then she starts slowly but steadily getting closer and Levi starts freaking out and puts his hands away and hugs her which she accepts. He would’ve and probably should have kissed her there but he wants it to be perfect because that’s what she deserves, perfect.
The day is finally here and Levi is ready! He’s a little spooked at first but he’s also happy because he can’t wait to hear her answer. But also, he has a little doubt just in case he gets an answer he doesn’t want. But enough about sadness because it’s now or never. He says high to all his friends and lets them know the plan so they all start shaking his hand for gods knows what and he tells Isabel and Furlan to help him at the end of the day to find Hange she’s known to just roam usually either at the science lab or in the library so he wants them to scout and see where she’ll be. As the day goes by all he can think about is Hange and sometimes stares at her during class and while he’s lost in thought Hange chucks a note at him while the teacher is looking at the board and it says “what are you thinking about shorty?-Hange” He looks at the note and starts thinking about how after today whatever happens he’ll look at things with a positive light but it’ll be even better with Hange by his side. “Just the future you know.. wondering what I’ll be doing in a couple of years.-Levi” “Oh, me too I guess but I can’t believe its almost over it feels not so long ago when we met by the playground I hope you don’t forget me short stuff.-Hange.” “Don’t worry Shitty Glasses I don’t think I could ever forget you. Anyways enough reminiscing, where are you going to be after school maybe I’ll swing by before practice. -Levi” “It’ll be hard to forget you too, hopefully we end up at the same college wouldn’t that be something huh. Anyways I’ll probably be at the science lab gonna finish a experiment for my ap class. -Hange” Alright, now he knows where she’ll be, so he decides he’ll send Furlan and Isabel to bring her towards the lunchroom and maybe put a blindfold to make a better surprise.
As school ends he goes straight to Furlan and Isabel and tells them “Alright Hange should be in the science room so get her, but just in case she isn’t check the library.” “You got it bro you can count on us!”, he then tells them to be quick while he sets up the sign and see’s Nanaba getting the ballons and camera set up, then he tells her “Thanks Nanaba, for everything I couldn’t have done it without your help”. “Levi, it was my pleasure. Now get ready she should be here any minute.” After adjusting the sign just, a little bit to the left he gives it to Mike who looks at him and says, “Don’t mess this up.” Levi confused just nods his head quickly and turns around to the sound of Hange talking “Where in Gods name are you taking me? This better not be another prank Furlan last time you got my backpack all dirty” “Jeez Hange you think so low of me, anyways we’re almost thereeeee here, now let me get this blindfold off, oh and heres your glasses sorry.” As she adjusts her eyes she see’s all her friends, then she sees the sign, laughing a little at the attempt at a joke, then Levi with Flowers in his hands. Before she can say anything Levi say’s “Hange, I like you and I hope we can make it official if you’ll go to prom with me.” He’s practically sweating at this point as he sees Hange walk up to him and practically tearing up, “YES LEVI ILL GO WITH YOU I THOUGHT YOUD NEVER ASK WAHHH.” He grabs her into his arms and hugs her tight kissing the top of her head as she melts in his warmth, well mostly sweat. And he starts crying too thinking that this is where he wants to be, holding Hange feeling her warmth. As they separate he gives her the flowers and the chocolate, which she instantly chomps into. Then somehow his mom is there and asks for a picture of the two lovebirds and they blush simultaneously, then as they take the picture Hange kisses his cheek and starts laughing at Levi’s reaction. Then he gets close to her and full-on kisses her on the lips, “beat that, Hange.” He says with a smirk and his Mom is astonished at what she sees. Then after a minute Levi asks Hange if she wants to walk home with him after his practice which he realizes he’s going to be late for which Hange replies, “sure I’ll just wait for you by the bleachers now hurry before you’re late shorty”. And he hurries off with his bag as Nanaba and Hange start talking about what they’re going to wear. “I’m so happy for you Hange, you two were meant for each other.” “Yeah, he’s so cute when he’s flustered though, huh?” They laugh at that as Nanaba goes home and Hange waits up for Levi. She’s so happy she wants to scream so she does it at the same place Levi did and says, “LEVI I LOVE YOUUU!!!”. Levi sees this and all his teammates whistle at him, but even though he’s a little flustered he doesn’t mind because now he so happy he feel like he’s soaring through the air. Him and Hange finally together.
