Chapter Text
Natasha stands in the doorway of your office, watching your fingers angrily type out a slew of codes. Knowing that she’s behind you with her arrogant smirk, but you don’t want to talk about it. She clears her throat a second, but still you continue on your mission. Just because they’re back doesn’t mean your job is over.
She inhales quickly, faking a cough before you spin around to look at her. Eyebrows furrowed, and your head wiggles around, wanting to know what she wants. “You’ve been in here too long, come spar with me.”
“Don’t need to Romanoff.”
She clicks her tongue, and walks over beside you, “That shit hurt, you never call me that.”
“What do you want?”
“I figured since I brought your fiancé back in one piece, you’d want to see him. Or are you going to play this, passive aggressive, ignoring him, until you forget about what happen?”
“He took his earpiece out again.”
Walking over to grab the other chair, she sits in front of you holding your hands, “Court did fine before you came on. He never had an earpiece in.”
“How am I supposed to…I’m doing my job. He’s acting like what I’m doing is irrational. Disconnecting from my system,” you swirl your hands around at all the computers and Nat shrugs. Dropping your hand she leans back.
“The new guy calls it your honey pot.”
“Ew, I don’t like the way that sounds.”
“Why are you so hellbent on being in Court’s ear the whole time?”
Your eyes drift down to your engagement ring, and you give it a swirl around you finger. Looking up through your lashes at Nat, “I love him. I want to make sure he comes home safe. I’m not emotional on coms. I’m helpful. I know my job, and I do it. He’s the one not following orders.”
“Natasha, you care to give me and my fiancé a moment, please,” you look up at Court, and like always, he’s vacant. Unreadable. Natasha mouths out sorry, before standing up, walking to the door, she whispers something to Court before walking out, leaving Court to take her spot.
You don’t allow him to say anything before you’re taking note of all his new wounds, a large one on his face already cleaned and bandaged. Reaching for his hand, but he moves your hand to cup his cheek. “I’m sorry,” he whispers out. That boyish grin reminding you of why you fell in love in the first place.
“For what?”
“Ripping my earpiece out and ignoring you.”
“Are you though?” his face tilts to the side giving him a bit of a puppy dog look, but you’re not falling for it. “I was letting you know how many men were after you.”
“And I was trying to tell you that I didn’t need to know. I was fine before they assigned you to me,” your face falls, and he sees your eyes go glossy, “I didn’t mean, Angel,” you scoff at him for using that nickname. “I didn’t mean that the way it came out.”
“You do realize before I was assigned to you, because Court Genry doesn’t like having a team, that’s how we met? That’s how we crossed paths. I am there to make sure you’re one step ahead.”
“And you’re doing fantastic, it’s just distracting. I’ve got gut instinct,” rolling your eyes, you go to stand, but he grabs your wrist, making you look down at him, “If you promise to not be so talkative on coms, I promise to keep my piece in.”
“Really? That’s what you think this is all about?”
“I need you to trust me.”
“And I need you to listen.”
He juts out his lip, pulling you to settle on his lap, before he’s caressing your face, his lips ghosting every inch of you from the neck up, “I do listen. I don’t want this to be a fight after every mission. We’re both learning.”
“I know. But I want to know you’re okay.”
His hand slides up your thigh. Cupping your mound, he begins to slowly palm you over your jeans.
“I am. I came home to you, just like I told you I would,” nipping at your jawline, he turns your face to fully look at him. “I love you, and I know what I do can be unpredictable, but I want this to work.”
“Me, too,” you pant pulling him closer. Your eyes look over his face, with a bite to your lip, stifling the whimper that dares to echo off of you.
Court comes closer, nuzzling his nose against your cheek, “When we get home, I better hear you really sing for me.”
“Court,” you look back towards the door, pulling him into you. Your lips slot into his, not wasting the time to taste him, your tongue breeches through his lips, and the two of you moan into the other.
Feeling more bold, his hand travels to your waistband, undoing your button and zipper quickly, before sinking in. Moving aside your panties, he pushes two fingers into you. A shallowed, “I missed you,” spoken into your mouth. With a little nibble to his lip, he moans on you. Lost within each other, without a care in the world.
“So this is what the honey pot looks like close up,” you push Court away from you, staring up at the new guy. His eyes roam around your computer screens, never giving the two of you attention. “Oh, don’t mind me. But I wonder, is that behavior regulation for a return from a mission. If so, I would love to have you in my ear honey.”
He looks back at you with a smirk. Holding out his hand for Court to shake, but his eyes drifting down to Court’s hand still inside of you. “Oh, never mind. I’m Lloyd by the way. Lloyd Hansen.”
“I’m aware,” Court grunts. Embarrassed at where his hand is, but also wanting to remove it. You just can’t look at anyone. Looking at anything, but the new man in your space, “Do you mind?”
“Oh sorry,” he turns back to the monitors, and with a roll of Court’s eyes he removes his hand, leaving you to yip at the loss of him. “You keep wipes in here? I’m sure it would be best for you just to wash your hand though. I’m no expert, but I’m sure having an affair with…”
“She’s my fiancé,” he looks around fruitlessly, and you shake your head, because there isn’t anything for him to clean his hands. Lifting you up off of him, he stalks out of your office. Leaving you to awkwardly fix yourself back up and still he stands there.
“He always get a welcome home like that?”
“It was a rough mission.”
“I heard, something about Court doesn’t know how to listen,” he shrugs before sitting down in the opposite chair. “I would ask you to join me, but somehow I think that’s a terrible idea.”
“Can I help you?”
“Yeah, you’ve been assigned to team up with me remotely in France.”
“Absolutely not,” Lloyd’s eyesight never leaves yours as Court walks back in. “She doesn’t do field work. She stays here.”
Hissing like a cat, he gives you a mischievous grin, “He always tell you what to do? Anyways, it was just assigned. It seems that her working in the honey pot has had its curve balls. Apparently there’s someone out in the field who doesn’t seem to think this is necessary, and since I don’t have someone,” his arms hold out wide, finally looking up at him. “I would be so appreciative of this service.”
“She can work remotely. She doesn’t need to be on location.”
“She does. They also said it might be nice for her to get some field work, so she understands why it can be dangerous if someone is ‘over talking’ in their ear. Those words didn’t come from them. It was in a formal complaint or something.”
You gawk over at Court, he is the only one that has a problem with you being in on coms. “Really?”
“I said she wasn’t going on location,” Court’s gray blue eyes glare at Lloyd. The two of them in the most pathetic battle of testosterone.
“You’re not my boss, Court,” he spins to look at you confused. “If you deem me as unnecessary to your operations, it only makes sense to assign me to another agent,” he gives you a single nod, starting to turn to leave, but you grab his hand.
“Lloyd, do you mind giving us a minute?”
“Yeah, just stay out of chairs,” he gives you an arrogant smile, before leaving.
“I don’t want you assigned to him,” you press a finger up against his lips, shushing him. It’s now his turn to listen.
“Since you feel I’m unnecessary for your team, this makes since. We won’t be fighting after a mission. This is what you set it motion by complaining to Fitzroy. You did this. And maybe this is what we need. Some space between us, so we’re not annoyed at each other, okay?”
“I don’t trust him.”
Leaning on your tippy toes, you give him a quick kiss, smoothing over his hair when you lean down, “Then trust me. Isn’t that what you always tell me? Trust me.”
“Fine, I’ll trust you, if you listen to me. He’s a cocky little asshole, and he’s been eyeing you since he started working in our division. Be careful. And stay away from the fight.”
“Why? You scared I’m gonna get hurt or not come home?” he gives you a grimace, “it doesn’t feel good does it Six?”
“Why you little,” he playfully grunts, picking you up around your ass to have your legs draped around him, “You only call me that on missions.”
“I’m not in your ear anymore, Court.”
“I messed up, didn’t I?” nodding your head, you move to rest on his shoulder, “Well, if this doesn’t work out, I can try to listen to you.”
“If you wanna get married, you better learn.”
