Chapter Text
Out of all the ways Silco expected his very first meeting with you to go, the feeling that he desperately needed to see you again as he left your office was not on the list. Not by a long shot.
The first time Silco had learnt of your existence, he’d been furious. As the newest gang leader of a small company, you’d quickly made a name for yourself by infiltrating one of his shimmer factories and stealing some important documents on how the operation worked.
The only way Silco had even discovered that you were behind the robbery in the first place was because you’d had the gall to leave your gang’s insignia spray painted on the wall of the factory.
Granted, he was absolutely enraged.
As of yet, you hadn’t done anything more than steal the sensitive documents, but Silco knew that if he didn’t nip it in the bud now, you’d no doubt escalate your attacks on the business, which he simply couldn’t afford. Besides, no-one steals from him and gets away with it.
Silco is not past making an example out of you, if the need arises.
Striding down the hall to your office, Silco is really rather irritated that he has to meet you. He was far too busy to be wasting his time disciplining pathetic little gang leaders. The only consolation is that the last leader of your gang had rolled over and easily given into his demands with the tamest of threats, so he feels pretty confident that you’ll do just the same.
What Silco doesn’t expect as he enters your sparse office, is for you to be beautiful.
It throws him as his eyes automatically tick over your form, drinking in your alluring yet subtle look. Gods above, you’re exquisite.
It’s quite easily the most attracted he’s ever felt towards another person, especially as you confidently hold his gaze from behind your little desk.
Distracted by your captivating appearance, Silco briefly forgets what he came here for, but a subtle squeeze of his fingernails into his palm shocks him back to the task at hand. But before he can get a word in edgeways, you cut in with the sweetest voice he’s ever heard.
“Silco, how lovely to finally meet you,” you tell him, without a single hint of malice or sarcasm lining your words.
He frowns. Going by your extremely cordial greeting, you were either very good at acting or were genuinely pleased to meet him, which was an occurrence that didn’t happen very often. Or at all, if he was being brutally honest with himself.
“Bourbon?” you offer, as you rise and cross over to the tiny drinks stand beside your desk.
Silco watches in awe as you pull out a bottle and present it to him. He instantly recognises the brand to be his favourite, which makes him wonder just exactly how you knew. It triggers a calculating line of questioning in his head, developed from years of paranoia after the one betrayal that had started it all.
Did he have a rat in his house? Was somebody feeding information to you? Is that how you knew where to find the documents in his factory?
Unaware of his paranoid ruminations, you pour him a glass anyway, despite him neither confirming nor denying your offer, instead simply glaring at the bottle. You hold the glass out for him to take as you gaze at him demurely.
When he pauses, you raise a questioning eyebrow and Silco quickly takes the glass from your delicate hand, resolving not to drink a single drop of the fine whiskey.
It wouldn’t be the first time someone’s tried to poison him and it certainly wouldn’t be the last.
You gesture for him to sit on one of the small loveseats in the corner of the office and settle yourself down on the opposite one. Reluctantly, Silco follows suit and allows himself to cross one leg over the other as he subtly places the drink on the little side table.
Once you’re both seated, Silco realises just how close you actually are to him. His leg is just grazing one of your knees and there is no doubt in his mind that it’s a form of power play. At least, that’s what he’d use the limited space for.
As if to prove his point, your foot nudges his boot as you adjust your position and Silco feels heat start to edge its way through his thin body at the contact.
“To what do I owe this pleasure?” you ask sweetly, with an innocent tilt to your head that leaves your smooth neck exposed to him.
Silco feels the overwhelming urge to run his tongue up the length of it-
But he snaps himself out of his wicked daydream to focus on your amicable words.
Ah. It’s beginning to make sense now. He’s figured out your game. Silco smirks to himself, certain that you won’t be able to read his quiet amusement.
You were a honey trap. Pulling him in with your sweet words and gorgeous demeanour. Once you’d got him in your grasp, you’d go in for the kill.
But he wouldn’t let you.
No. Silco knows better than that.
“Some documents were stolen from one of my factories and there was evidence to suggest that you were the one who ordered it,” he says candidly, a direct dichotomy to his spiralling thoughts.
“Ah, that little thing. Tell me, have I ruined all your nefarious plans?” you reply cheekily, lowering your chin to look up through your eyelashes at him.
“A minor inconvenience.”
“Yet here you are,” you grin, like you’d caught him telling a lie.
A hot coil tightens deep within him. You’d barely said a handful of sentences to him and he was already feeling himself come undone at your simple attention.
It was maddening.
Enough pleasantries, he thinks. Time to achieve what he set out to do. He needed to get this meeting over and done with as quickly as possible, or else he was in danger of letting you triumph over him completely.
Silco leans forward slightly, in a way that’s just close enough to be considered threatening, but he keeps voice unnervingly calm as he speaks.
“You will return the documents you stole from me, cease your attack on my business, and as a gesture of good will, I will offer you a deal that ensures you will never be out of pocket.”
“And how would that work? What would you have me do? Surely a man as… successful as yourself wouldn’t offer money without some kind of work being involved,” you reply seriously, for the first time since he’d walked into your office.
Hmm. You’re smart. A hell of a lot smarter than your worthless peers.
“You would move some of my product and take a share of the profits,” he tells you plainly.
Simple enough. The other gang leaders had practically snapped his arm off at the deal, the chance to work for him being a hell of a lot better than working against him. He’s very confident that you’ll take the deal… if you know what’s good for you.
“Hmm,” you think aloud, “Nah.”
The look on Silco’s face darkens infinitesimally.
Deep down, his blood is beginning to boil. Oh, you’re playing with fire now.
He decides to step it up a notch on the intimidation factor, a tactic that almost always works in his favour. Silco hopes that by telling you he’s not afraid of killing you, you’ll rethink whatever dangerous game you’re trying to play.
“Tell me, what is it you’re looking for? What is so important that it is worth risking your life over?” he asks darkly, leaning forward even further into your space.
“What every human being is looking for,” you reply nonchalantly, with a casual wave of your hand, as if it were completely obvious.
He’s certain you’re either going to say money or power.
Oh, if Silco could earn a single hex for everytime one of the young, simple-minded, new gang leaders named those two things as the most important goal in life, he’d be even richer than he is now.
Silco begins to roll his eyes in anticipation-
“Love.”
Wait…what?
Silco’s eyes widen in shock, which you instantly pounce on.
“You know, everyone is telling me you are the bad guy,” you continue, taking advantage of the rare opportunity presented to you, “But you just look like a sweet little kitten to me.”
As he narrowly eyes your coy expression, Silco can’t tell if the explosion of heat inside him is rage or arousal. But he quickly decides that it’s not allowed to be arousal.
Silco does not mix business with pleasure.
“I thought you were meant to be the all-mighty, all-powerful Eye of Zaun, but here you are. Offering me a deal, trying to get on my good side, I must say, it’s all very sweet.”
Oh, gods. If only you knew the sinful way his chest tightened at that.
The way he desperately wants to push you back onto the sofa and bruise your lips with his own. To tug at your hair until you opened up to him, letting his tongue roam the inside of your mouth. The way he would run his hands up and down your spine until you were shivering from pleasure in his grip-
Stop. He needs to stop. This is getting out of hand.
Silco leans forward, his shoulders now squarely above your knees.
“You do not want to find out what happens if you refuse to return my property,” he threatens darkly, his voice taking on a gravelly texture.
But instead of shrinking away like he expects (and desperately hopes, lest you melt him completely), you move even further forward until your nose almost presses against his.
At this angle, he can’t see anything but your glimmering eyes, so he can only feel as you pull something from your pocket and press it purposefully against his chest.
“Oh, honey, don’t threaten me with a good time,” you say coquettishly, punctuating it with a wink.
Suspended in time for a delicious few seconds, Silco’s breath catches until your hand abruptly leaves his chest and you sit back, leaving him to grasp at the papers before they fall to the floor.
His chest now feeling like it’s been burnt by your touch, Silco stares at the papers in his hands, willing himself to read the words instead of being distracted by your spellbinding aura.
When his eyes finally focus on the documents, he realises it’s the records you’d stolen from him.
You’d given them back.
Silco is not a fool and even in this short time, he has already come to the conclusion that you are not a fool either. You’d have no doubt made copies of them. But it doesn’t really matter because he’d already made alterations to the routes you’d managed to gain access to.
The only real reason Silco had come to your office was to intimidate you into never trying something like this again. Only, it clearly wasn’t working. You weren’t intimidated by him at all.
“It would be unwise to cross me again,” Silco threatens lowly.
“But what if I want you to keep visiting me?” you say innocently, twirling your hair in your index finger and tilting your head slightly.
This time, Silco is certain that you’re being serious. He can tell by the way your eyes dart across his face as you try to decipher his reaction.
And for the life of him, he can’t deduce why you would ever want to see him again. You didn’t want his money, you weren’t trying to steal from him. In fact, the only thing he could gleam from your unreserved behaviour, is that the one thing you wanted was him.
Silco would be delusional if he tried to convince himself that he didn’t also want you.
In a last ditch effort, he glares at you, opting for the expression that usually causes his adversaries to tremble before him. But you just blush.
Silco pushes to stand because he’s beginning to worry that if he stays any longer, he’ll be pulled under the waters into your treacherous lair, never to be seen again.
There’s no doubt in his mind that you are a siren sent to drown him.
“Same time next week then?” you ask when he turns to leave.
A part of him seriously considers it as he begins the short journey out of your office, but he just about convinces himself he shouldn’t.
“No.”
“Oh, I see how it is, you can only visit me if you need to discipline me, is that it?”
Silco keeps his back to you as he walks, the heat inside him burning hot white now, finally reaching the tips of his ears. It’s times like these that he misses the long hair of his youth to cover his true feelings, although, to be fair, this was not a regular occurrence for him.
There was just something about you that made him feel like he was about to disintegrate.
“Well, if that’s the case, I’ll just have to find a way to make sure you come and tell me off again. I rather enjoyed it, didn’t you?” you continue teasingly.
Silco is angrily rounding the door to your office, desperate to get away from your captivating charm.
“Pleasure not doing business with you, sweetie!” you call as he rounds the door and strides down the hallway, away from you and your infuriating magnetism.
Silco leaves your office feeling the most frustrated he’s ever felt in his life. Not only were you not phased by his threats, you’d just confirmed that you were going to continue to make his life hell, for the simple reason that you just wanted to see him again.
He knows he should just kill you for your insolence, but a huge part of him desperately wants to see you as well.
Silco can already tell that you’re going to be the most seductively troublesome person he’s ever had the pleasure of meeting. And he truly can’t decide whether he despises that eventuality, or whether he’s actually just madly in love.
