Maybe this is love.

Summary:

After the whole situation of Hawkins being nearly destroyed, the town started to rebuild itself. Steve and Robin continued to work at the video store and a certain metal head, aka Eddie Munson, decided to pay a visit to the point he was a regular. It gives Steve mixed feelings once they grow closer over time, more than he expects.

Or the case where Steve is confused on his feelings towards Eddie after having had been un the upside down.

// we don't talk about any deaths.

Notes:

honestly, I'm way too rusty in terms of writing, but ive had some inspiration. I will be adding more!

Work Text:

After the brink of Hawkins basically being destroyed, the town took their time over the months to get it fixed, slowly yet surely. Most of the town thought it was some major earthquake, others thinking Satanism had some factor, but the ones who truly knew what went down with the whole upside down had their guards up as they tried to get their lives back to normal.

With that being said, being back to "normal", Steve and Robin continued their work over at the video store, though with the events that held around business was slower than usual, not that they complained for the sake they didn't have to deal with shitty teens knocking over vhs tapes or the older folks asking them what each movie is about. Currently Robin was organizing some random tapes in alphabetical order while Steve leaned over against the front counter, letting out deep sighs as he flipped through a comic book Dustin had offered him to borrow in times like these.

"Steve, if I hear you sigh one more time," Robin muttered as a few tapes fell from her hands, scoffing out. "I'm going to throw this movie at the back of your head."

With that, the "hair", as many called him especially in school, turned to look at his dear, gay friend, rolling his eyes at her as he shifts to pick up the fallen tapes.

In retrospect, Steve knew he was exasperated just moping around work all day to pass the time. Honestly he wanted to do something else with himself, which made him think back to Dustin trying to get him to play D&D; not that he wanted to hurt his good friends feelings, but board games weren't really his style. He had considered it, but he wasn't all too sure.

His thoughts were cut off the moment the tiny little bell that hung over the door dinged, turning around to speak and help whomever stepped in before his eyes somewhat widened.

Eddie fucking Munson.

Robin shifted to Steve's side, nudging her shoulder against his with a small smile as she waved at the metal head, surprised to see him in a store like this in public, especially with many people thinking he was a murder still even though his case was cleared and he was aimed innocent, which they knew he was.

Eddie looked at the two, an awkward, small wave passed him as he looked a little dazed.

"Hey guys, uhm.." the raven sheepishly played with one of the many rings upon his long, framed fingers. "Thought I'd just stop by..say hi..maybe rent a movie or something."

Now that was interesting, but hey they weren't ones to really judge especially how things turned out. Steve gave him a small smile, a scrunch to his nose as he leaned against the front counter more. Treat him like any other customer, if he was serious to get a movie. "Looking for anything in specific?" He asked the metal head, brows slightly raised curiously.

"Nightmare on Elm Street? Dustin wants to watch it with the gang and yeah.."

Hearing the kids name perked Harrington up, leaning up and off against the counter as he walked over to a certain section of vhs tapes, finding the film Eddie requested, figuring they would have it with shop being slow and all.

"Say," Steve mused out as he set the tape onto the register counter, Robin getting it checked out to rent which was only a few bucks for a least the night to keep. He then continued: "mind if Rob and I here join yalls little..movie night festivities? Bored as hell being here all the time." Since the whome upside down shit show, he and Eddie had some moments shared between the two that always got a rise from Robin, which he didn't bother to lean into, nor think about. But in all honesty, the guy wasn't that bad, he was quite amusing to be around. Compared to their first meeting qith a broken bottle to his throat, it reminded him on how scared and worried the rocker was before, but now he seemed almost more slack and dazed. Moat likely from smoking which he was a bit familiar with himself.

The look on Eddie's face told him he was not expecting to hear such a thing from the almighty Steve Harrington.

A shaky breath left him before putting on that smug grin he used when playing D&D with the others, doing an open bow towards the two. It was he flipped switches and became another person, but it was notably still the same old Eddie they were familiar with. The metal head grinned more, the tip of his tongue sticking out. "If you don't mind it being at...my new trailer, then I'd be honored to have the dynamic duo's company."

And that's how Robin and Steve ended up at the others place, having had picked Robin up since the poor lady couldn't get a license as broke as she was. They knocked at the trailer door, looming at one another as they could hear Mike's voice clearly. "No damn way! That's impossible, Freddy is way scarier than Jason. Like...he gets in your dreams man, your dreams!" Ah, children bitching over horror killers as if Vecna hadn't been the scariest of them all and he had been real. "Sounds like this'll be fun, yeah?" Robin chimed in with a small smile to her lips as she ran a hand through her short hair, gazing at her friend.

Steve was going to reply before the trailer door swung open, a bright eyed and goofy grinned Dustin starring at the two of them.

"Well I'll be damed! Steve, Robin, please come in; Eddie's fixing us some snacks right now." The two older looked at one another with a shake of their head before stepping into the trailer. The guy wasn't kidding when he talked about the space with everyone they practically knew in one area. Dustin, Will, Lucas, Mike, El, and even Max was there. They all looked at them with surprised looks, waving at them with a slight nod of acknowledgement.

This sure was going to be an interesting night.
