Work Text:

Seokjin disliked him from the first time he met Namjoon. Seokjin remembered clearly as his homeroom teacher introduced the new kid on the first day of their junior year. Namjoon was 2 years younger than Seokjin and his classmates but apparently, he was some kind of genius that skipped a few grades so instead of being a freshman, he was “promoted” to junior. Nothing special, Yoongi also skipped a grade. Namjoon was very confident and very sure of himself. He introduced himself to the class with a dimpled smile that made all of the noonas swoon and practically adopt him on sight. He even made friends with all their male classmates including Yoongi who was SUPPOSED TO BE SEOKJIN’S BEST FRIEND.

“I don’t know why you hate him so much, hyung. Namjoon’s a really nice kid.” Yoongi told him one day.

“I don’t hate him, Yoongi-yah. I just don’t care much for him,” Seokjin countered.

The original plan was to ignore him and just continue on as usual. Things changed quickly as soon as the first quarter of high school ended. The rankings were out. Seokjin was expecting to be on top as usual but to his surprise and annoyance, he was just in second place with the top notcher of the juniors being Namjoon.

“Wow, hyung, our scores are so close! You might beat me next quarter!” Namjoon told him with a smile as they stood side by side, looking at the bulletin board where the class rankings were posted.

“Who does he think he is?! ‘You might beat me next quarter’,” Seokjin repeated, mocking Namjoon, while he took giant bites of his food. “Of course, I’ll beat him! I was just…relaxing because it’s just the first quarter. Besides! It’s just 0.03 points! Ha! That’s not a lot! Wait till I show my full potential!” he added but his mouth was full so Yoongi could barely understand his words.

“Hyung, first of all, will you please not talk with your mouth full? I’m scared you’ll choke,” Seokjin tried to protest but he started actually choking on his food, “See? Second of all, I think Namjoon was just being nice. I doubt he was taunting you,”

“You’re supposed to be on my side!” Seokjin said once he could speak again, “I’m your best friend not him!”

“I’m not siding with anybody, hyung, because I assure you, whatever rivalry you have going on with his is one-sided,” Yoongi said.

Seokjin was about to argue but he was cut off by Namjoon who just arrived to their table, scratching his nape.

“H-hey, Yoongi-hyung, S-seokjin-hyung. Can I sit with you? The teacher said I’m not allowed to eat on the staircase…” Namjoon said sheepishly.

Yoongi looked surprised, Seokjin was too (BUT JUST A BIT!), “Of course, Joon-ah. Come sit here.” Yoongi said to the boy.

“Sorry for bothering you…”

“You’re not bothering us, Namjoon. In fact, you can sit with us all the time, right Seokjin-hyung?” Yoongi asked his friend. But it wasn’t a request because Yoongi was glaring at Seokjin the whole time.

“O-of course. You’re welcome to join us.” Seokjin finally said, refusing to look at Namjoon.

“T-thanks, Seokjin-hyung. I really appreciate it…”

“Yah! Namjoon-ah! What about me? Aren’t you gonna thank me?” Yoongi asked the blushing Namjoon who now sat right in front of Seokjin.

“Thank you, Yoongi-hyung,” Namjoon said though his attention was still on Seokjin.

Seokjin noticed Namjoon staring but the latter averted his eyes when Seokjin looked up. It didn’t matter much to Seokjin because his attention was on the cup noodle Namjoon was holding in his right hand. “Is that your lunch?” He asked disapprovingly.

“A-ah. Y-yes.”

“You don’t eat an actual meal for lunch??” Seokjin asked, horrified at the thought.

“N-no. My parents are too busy to make me some and I don’t really like the cafeteria food…” Namjoon answered shyly.

To be fair, the cafeteria food tasted so bad. That was why Seokjin decided to make himself lunch every day even if it meant that he had to wake up earlier than normal or sometimes prepare his meals the night before. Without a word, Seokjin took the lid of his lunch box and started putting portions of his food there. Once satisfied, he pushed the lid towards Namjoon, “That’s very unhealthy. Here. Eat this.”

“N-no, I’m okay. Really–”

“Are you saying no to my food?”

“NO! N-no, not at all! I just–”

“Just take it, Namjoon-ah,” Yoongi said, “Hyung’s not gonna stop pestering you if you don’t do as he says.”

Shyly, Namjoon took the lid and started eating. Namjoon found out that Seokjin was a very good cook. Very good cook. The food tasted so divine that he didn’t notice that Seokjin would put a little more on the lid every time Namjoon was close to finishing his food.

“Thank you for the food, hyung. It was really good!” Namjoon said happily and sincerely.

Seokjin knew his ears were red from the compliment but he decided to ignore that and the fact that Yoongi was looking at him funny. He cleared his throat, “D-don’t bother buying cup noodles tomorrow. I’ll just make you some more food.”

“You really don’t have to, hyung…” said Namjoon.

“Don’t tell me what to do!” Seokjin complained, his face red as a tomato. He heard Yoongi snicker from beside him so he stepped on his foot under the table, making his friend wince.

It became a habit, after a while. Namjoon stopped buying cup noodles while Seokjin shared his food with him. Yoongi would shake his head and roll his eyes at the two.

“I thought you hated him, hyung?” Yoongi asked Seokjin with a smirk one time they were hanging out at Seokjin’s place.

“I told you I don’t hate him! He’s my rival but I don’t hate him. We have a healthy rivalry,” Seokjin said.

“I think you’re the only one who thinks that, hyung.”

“You think he thinks our rivalry isn’t healthy?”

“I don’t think he’s even aware of this rivalry you’re talking about, hyung. Besides, you feed him on a daily basis at school, what rival does that? Of course, he won’t think you’re rivals.”

“I’m his rival but I’m not the devil! I won’t let him starve just because he stole my first-place ranking this quarter, Yoongi.”

“He didn’t steal anything, hyung. He earned that place and you know it,”

“And next quarter I’ll earn it back!”

Seokjin did not earn it back. He almost did but Namjoon managed to beat him by 0.01 point!

“Wow, hyung, you’re getting super close! I’m starting to get worried!” Namjoon joked as they once again stood side by side in front of the school’s bulletin board.

By that time, Seokjin also started getting tired of sharing his food with Namjoon, so he did what any other good rival would do. He got Namjoon his own pokemon themed lunch set and started making him his own food. Seokjin made their lunches the night before, excited to use the new lunch set he bought for Namjoon.

“Honey, are you making food for Yoongi too? That’s so nice of you,” his mom commented upon seeing him preparing two lunch boxes.

“N-no. This is for our new…friend. He’d only eat cup noodles if I don’t make him food. That idiot,” he said, murmuring the last part.

“Oh? Is he cute?” Seokjin looked up at his mom who was wiggling her eyebrows at him. Seokjin’s mother knew of his preferences since freshman. He knew that he was very blessed to have a very supportive family who never once judged him for being bisexual.

“I-I DON’T HAVE A CRUSH ON HIM OKAY! SO WHAT IF HE HAS DIMPLES AND A CUTE SMILE AND HIS EYES GO WIDE WHEN HE’S VERY HAPPY! HE’S MY RIVAL!”

His mother was surprised at first but then she busted out laughing, “Whatever you say, darling. Invite this young boy some time for dinner, okay?”

“He doesn’t like seafood so don’t make seafood pasta if he does come to visit, ok?” Seokjin said absent-mindedly as he went back to preparing their food.

Things did not go as planned though, because Seokjin got sick the very next day. He got so sick that he couldn’t move at all. He planned to go back to sleep but remembered that Namjoon wouldn’t have a proper lunch today if he didn’t go to school. He tried to get up but he felt so sick.

His parents already left for work so he was all alone at home. He took his phone from the nightstand and called Yoongi.

“Hello, hyung?”

“Y-yoongi. I’m sick,” he said, his voice hoarse and barely audible.

“Do you need me there, hyung? Are your parents with you?” His friend asked, concern very obvious in his voice.

“N-no. No. I’m fine. I just need sleep. But I need you to come to my house before you go to school.”

“Why, hyung? Do you need anything?”

“I-I made Namjoon’s lunch. Can you give it to him at school?” Yoongi was quiet from the other line but Seokjin just knew he was smirking. “I just don’t want him to get sick! Who will be my rival if he’s sick! That’s right! I’m just keeping my enemies closer!”

“Whatever you say, hyung. I’m on my way.”

“I don’t think I can come downstairs so just head to the kitchen. His lunch box is the Snorlax one in the fridge. Heat it up in the microwave and then put it inside the pokemon lunch bag.”

“Hyung, how old do you think Namjoon is? Pokemon? Really?”

“HE LIKES IT OK!”

“Can you please stop shouting? You’ll make your throat worse! And since when did you care about what Namjoon liked?”

“I SAID I’M KEEPING MY ENEMIES CLOSER!” Seokjin said (shouted) one last time before abruptly cutting the call.

Seokjin doesn’t know what time it was when he was woken up by a noise in the kitchen. He looked at his clock and saw that it was 10 am so there shouldn’t be anyone else at home. He got out of bed, took whatever object he could use for self-defense, and headed toward the kitchen. He heard their voices before he saw them.

“Namjoon-ah. That’s not how you cut carrots,” he heard Yoongi said.

Finally, he walked into the kitchen and found Namjoon and Yoongi standing side by side on the kitchen counter cooking. Yoongi was cooking, Namjoon was trying to help but bless his heart, he held the knife blade up.

“Give me the knife, Namjoon. Peel these potatoes instead,” Yoongi said, taking the knife from Namjoon’s hand.

“Why are you here?” He finally asked them. The two looked startled and then worried that he was up.

“Hyung, you shouldn’t be walking around. You’re still sick,” Namjoon said, rushing to his side and leading him to one of the stools of the kitchen island.

“Why aren’t you two at school?”

“It’s boring without you there,” Yoongi said, not looking up from what he was doing. Besides, it’s mostly self-study at school today because the teachers have a meeting the whole afternoon, remember?”

“Hyung, do you need anything? Are you hungry? Did you take your medicine?” Namjoon asked Seokjin, obviously very worried.

“I’m fine, Namjoon-ah. But don’t stand too close to me, you’ll get sick too.”

“I don’t get sick, hyung. Don’t worry about me.”

“Non-sense, go back to helping Yoongi-yah, won’t you?”

Reluctantly, Namjoon walked back beside Yoongi and started peeling the potatoes.

They made him some soup but he was still hungry so the three of them decided to eat what was in their lunch box.

“Where did you find these, hyung? They’re so cute!” Namjoon said excitedly as he looked at his new pokemon lunch box and lunch bag.

“W-we had them lying around in the kitchen. I didn’t want to buy a new one,” Seokin lied. Yoongi shook his head and continued eating.

The two of them stayed with Seokjin until his mother came home from work.

“Oh, are you Seokjin’s new friend?” His mom asked Namjoon who looked away shyly.

“Y-yes. I’m Kim Namjoon,” he introduced himself with a formal bow.

Seokjin’s mother sent Yoongi a knowing look. The other nodded in understanding. “He’s a very nice kid, aunty,” Yoongi said. “And very smart too.”

Seokjin’s mother chuckled and looked at Namjoon, “Come join us for dinner one day, Namjoon. I promise I won’t cook sea food.”

“Y-you’re very nice. Thank you,”

“Well, thanks for taking care of my stubborn big baby. I wish he called me so I could’ve excused myself from work,” His mom said as he walked to where Seokjin sat, giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. “You two be careful on your way home okay?”

“Okay,” Yoongi and Namjoon said in unison. They said their goodbyes to Seokjin before leaving to go home.

“He’s cute, Jinnie. In a very dorky way. But absolutely adorable. Well done,” said his mom.

“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Yeah? Well. why are you blushing?”

“I-it’s the fever!”

“Whatever you say, Jinnie.”

The final quarter of their Junior year passed and Namjoon still took the first place. Seokjin felt a little annoyed but not as much as he did before.

“Don’t get too confident, Namjoon-ah. Next year, I’m taking my place back.” He told Namjoon on their last day of school.

“Let’s have a good fight next year too, hyung,” Namjoon answered.

Seokjin was glad Namjoon said that. He finally acknowledged their rivalry! Ha! Yoongi can suck it!

He still hung out with Yoongi and Namjoon even during the school break. It helped that Namjoon lived close to Seokjin’s house while Yoongi was just one bike ride away. Seokjin was glad that he chose not to attend summer school because hanging out with the two was much more fun. Namjoon started to become a permanent fixture in their house as well. Seokjin’s and Namjoon’s parents became close over time and when Namjoon’s parents were out of town or busy, Namjoon would join them for meals, sometimes staying the night in one of their guest bedrooms or sometimes in Seokjin’s room. Well, most of the time, in Seokjin’s room.

During their Senior year, Namjoon had “glowed up” so to speak. He was still lanky and a little clumsy but he was much more confident than before. That must have made girls attracted to him even more. He gets confessed to as much as Seokjin now, but he would turn them all down. Seokjin wondered what Namjoon looked for in a partner. One time during lunch, he asked Namjoon.

Namjoon looked surprised at the question, “Well, I like someone who’s smart and kind and funny. It would be good if they can cook because I can’t. And uh… I like someone who’s a bit of a tsundere? Like, someone who pretends not to care even if everyone knows they care. I like someone who I could banter and joke with without being bored. Someone who’s polite and respectful but is not a pushover… Yeah… I guess that’s it?” Namjoon answered shyly.

“Huh, I guess there are girls like that here in school,” Seokjin said, confused why he suddenly felt…sad?

“Girl?” Namjoon tilted his head to the side. “Hyung, I’m gay,” Yoongi and Seokjin were very surprised at Namjoon’s very candid confession. They just kept looking at him with mouths open wide. “Is that a problem?” Namjoon asked, suddenly sounding very defensive.

“No! No, no. Not at all. Just surprised at how easy it is for you to admit…” Yoongi said. “Hyung and I are bisexuals. B-but it’s kinda hard to admit that to people, you know?”

“Oh, you’re bi, hyung?” Namjoon asked Seokjin. From beside Seokjin, Yoongi rolled his eyes at how obvious Namjoon was being. Seokjin nodded, “That’s good, hyung.”

“Hmm?”

“Nothing.”

“I guess the gays do flock together, huh?” Seokjin asked, making the other two laugh out loud.

“Hey!  Wake up!” Namjoon said, shaking his sister awake.

His sister groaned, “What do you want?” she asked, annoyed that her sleep was interrupted.

“Hyung is bisexual!” Namjoon said with so much excitement you’d think he hit the lottery. But honestly, with Seokjin, he might have.

“That’s good, oppa. Good night,” his sister said, pulling the covers over her head in an attempt to block out whatever his panicked-gay older brother has to say.

“You can’t! My mind’s running a thousand miles and I’m just so happy, I need to rant!”

“Ugh!” His sister sat up on her bed, “Fine, but you’re doing my chores for the entire month!”

“Deal!”

Ever since finding out that Seokjin also liked boys, Namjoon has been dropping hints here and there. He knew Yoongi knew. He also knew Seokjin was clueless. Painfully clueless. But Namjoon refused to give up. Namjoon decided that he needed to be more obvious.

It was valentines day at school. Namjoon felt very nervous. His hands were a bit worn off from trying to bake cookies for his Seokjin-hyung. He tried his best, he really did, but he never really had the talent for cooking. The cookies were kind of burnt. Okay so they were burned, no “kind of”, but he was very proud that they look a lot better and edible than his first attempts. His mother offered to help him, and so did his younger sister but he wanted to do it by himself. He wrapped them as prettily as he could but even the box turned out to be wonky. He took a deep breath before heading out to Seokjin’s house so they could walk to school together as usual.

If Seokjin noticed that Namjoon was acting weird, he didn’t say anything. All morning, Namjoon couldn’t look at him. He would avert his eyes every time Seokjin spoke to him and sometimes would stutter. He looked like a fool. He also kinda lost hope with his cookies. All day long, students, some even from neighboring schools, would give Seokjin chocolates, sweets, and gifts. They all looked better than the ones Namjoon had in his bag but every time, Seokjin would politely decline. Namjoon felt absolutely embarrassed that he even thought about giving him something so he made the decision to not give them to him anymore.

However, while they were studying side by side in the library, the box fell off his bag when Namjoon tried to grab a notebook. Hastily, he tried to put it back inside his bag before Seokjin could see but it was too late.

“What’s that?” Seokjin asked.

“N-nothing, hyung,”

“I saw my name written on the card. Is it for me?”

“Y-you must have seen it wrong, hyung.”

“Give it.”

“What? No!”

“Give it, Namjoon.”

“Hyung, it’s really nothing.”

Seokjin sighed before looking Namjoon in the eyes. “Fine, you leave me no choice.” With one swift motion, Seokjin managed to grab Namjoon’s bag from his hands and take the box inside. “Oh. You made this for me?” Namjoon tried to take the cookies from Seokjin but the older was faster. He moved the box away from Namjoon’s reach.

Seokjin opened the box and saw what is obviously homemade cookies. Or at least what looked like they were supposed to be homemade cookies. Some were burned, many were unevenly baked. The frosting on top of each were closer to squiggles than actual drawings of what Seokjin could only assume were hearts. They were unpleasant in the eyes… But absolutely adorable.

“T-they’re terrible, hyung. I should’ve just thrown them away. Let me–” Seokjin moved the box away from Namjoon again.

Seokjin took one cookie in his hand and observed it before taking a bite. It bitter, burnt and bland. There was still uncooked flour inside.

“I-I know they’re terrible, hyung. I–”

“I like them,” Seokjin whispered shyly.

“W-what?”

“I really like them, Joon-ah. I love them. Thank you,” he said a bit louder. He couldn’t look at Namjoon so he put all his attention on the box of cookies. Looking down at them, he couldn’t help but smile at Namjoon’s gift to him.

Namjoon felt so happy but shy at the same time. So here they were, smiling at floor, looking like two absolute idiots.

Seokjin kept eating the cookies as they studied but Namjoon was concerned.

“Hyung, I don’t think burnt food is good for you. Please stop eating them.”

“Don’t tell me what to do.”

Namjoon and Seokjin made an agreement that Seokjin won't eat the ones that were more than forty percent burnt. Seokjin pouted but eventually gave in.

Seokjin got a stomach ache that night but his parents were not around so he called Yoongi instead. He didn’t call Namjoon for two reasons, 1) Namjoon and his family were having dinner with his grandparents, and 2) Namjoon would feel bad and make Seokjin throw the cookies.

Yoongi came over immediately with medicine in hand. He went straight to Seokjin’s room and found the cookies on his nightstand.

“What the hell are these? Charcoal?” Yoongi asked, looking suspiciously at the contents of the box in front of him.

“Namjoon made those cookies, you prick!” Seokjin said defensively.

“Those are cookies?!?”

“What else would they be?!”

“Hyung, please don’t tell me you ate these?”

“Of course, I ate them. Don’t ask stupid questions.”

“And then you got a stomach ache?”

“...Don’t tell Namjoon.”

“I hate you both with every fiber of my being.”

“Damn, that’s not a lot of fibers. Like two and a half at most.”

“I hate my life.”

Thankfully, Seokjin was fine the next day so he was able to go to school. Something changed between Namjoon and Seokjin after that day. Seokjin started sitting next to Namjoon instead of Yoongi just like he used to. Namjoon and Seokjin were almost always together even during breaks. It was very rare to see one without the other.

One day, when Seokjin and Yoongi had to attend a student council meeting before lunch, Namjoon said he’d wait for them so they could all eat together. Yoongi knew Namjoon didn’t give a damn about him and was only waiting for Seokjin. He rolled his eyes and muttered, “gays”

Seokjin knew that students confessed to Namjoon a lot since he glowed up over the school break but he never saw one happen in person. But here he was, Yoongi by his side, staring at the scene as a girl from another class confessed to Namjoon. The girl was handing Namjoon a lunch box and asking him to eat lunch with her. Namjoon was too flustered to speak but he didn’t even have a chance because the next thing he knew, Seokjin was beside him.

“Joon-ah. We’re done! I made your favorite, let’s go?” Seokjin said, not acknowledging the girl.

Namjoon was surprised but he felt happy upon realizing Seokjin, whether he was aware or not, was jealous. He smiled so brightly at his hyung before remembering about the girl. “A-ah. Sorry noona, but Seokjin-hyung already makes me lunch. I’m really sorry,” He said, bowing.

“Next time then?” The girl asked hopefully.

Seokjin, irritated, took Namjoon’s hand and pulled him away from the scene, “Let’s go, Joon-ah. I’m starving.”

Namjoon felt himself blush. He looked back to the girl who was just as surprised as he was, “S-sorry noona.”

“It’s okay! I-I understand.”

Namjoon turned his attention to Seokjin whose ears were so red and lips in a deep pout. “Hyung, you’re gonna rip my arm off their socket,” he teased.

“S-sorry. Joon-ah,” Seokjin said, letting go of Namjoon’s hand.

“It’s fine, hyung,” Namjoon said, taking Seokjin’s hand in his this time.

Unbeknownst to them, the entire floor (including Yoongi who just looked so done) watched the entire scene. It wasn’t long before rumors of Namjoon and Seokjin dating spread like wildfire. Many were disappointed and heartbroken but a lot more were happy and supportive that the two “princes” of their school were together.

The two of them were surprised to find that they were the school’s “it couple” in their yearbook. There were photos of them together in the yearbook, photos that were apparently taken by the “Namjin Club”, a club that they found out was dedicated to “protecting their relationship from outsiders.” Yoongi laughed out loud upon seeing the pages while Namjoon and Seokjin blushed.

Seokjin looked at each photo of them while he laid down on his bed. He couldn’t deny that he looked at Namjoon so…preciously. He couldn’t really explain it but it made him so conscious and embarrassed. He knew, oh he knew. He was aware but he had no intention of admitting it to himself or to anyone.

Namjoon on the other hand proudly showed off the photos to his sister.

Namjoon graduated as the valedictorian while Seokjin took the place of the salutatorian. Seokjin wasn’t as pissed as he was. He had many other things to worry about. Like still being clueless as to what he wanted to do in college.

“There’s no rush, Jinnie. Take as much time to think, ok? Just remember that pick what you really want to do because it might be what you do for the rest of your life,” his mother said.

Namjoon and he spent the night talking about the future. Before the night ended, Namjoon informed Seokjin of something that might change things in the future.

“What?”

“I’m studying in the US starting next month, hyung.”

“Oh… You’re going to the uni there?”

“No! No, just… I want to be better at English so I’m studying there for a bit. Probably just a year, hyung, maybe a year and a half if I don’t improve. But I got a full-year scholarship so I thought why not?”

Seokjin suddenly engulfed Namjoon in a big hug that surprised the younger but also made his heart beat erratically, “I’m so proud of you.”

Namjoon tentatively hugged him back, “Y-you’re okay with it hyung?”

“I mean, I’m gonna be sad that I won’t see you for a while but I’m okay with it. You’ll call me every day, right?”

“Of course, hyung.”

They spent the entire month leading to Namjoon’s departure day together. Sometimes they would be with Yoongi but most times it was just the two of them. Seokjin and Yoongi went with Namjoon’s family to the airport to send him off. Seokjin gave Namjoon one last big hug before finally waving goodbye to him.

Yoongi and Seokjin who were both still clueless about what to study in college decided to take one year off. It’s not like they didn’t do anything. They attended many workshops, volunteered a lot, and did anything that could help them figure out what to do in the future. It was nine months in that they both made the decision.

He told Namjoon about it in a call. He and Namjoon called each other every day, as they promised. Sure, one of them had to stay up late so they could match their schedules but it was worth it.

“So you and Yoongi-hyung know what you want to do?”

“Yes! We want to be High School teachers. Yoongi wants to be a history teacher and I want to teach home economics,” he told Namjoon shyly. “I know home economics is a weird subject for a male teacher to teach but…”

“It’s not weird at all, hyung. I know you’d be great at it!”

“Thanks, Namjoon-ah,” Seokjin said with a smile on his face. “Have you been eating well?”

“Yes, hyung, I am. Though I miss your homemade meals. The food here just isn’t as good.”

“Aish, stop trying to flatter me, you little shit.” But in truth Seokjin was blushing hard. He felt his face heat up even more when he heard Namjoon chuckle through the phone. “No cup noodles okay?”

“But hyuuuuung,” Namjoon whined.

“Fine. Once a week.”

“Ok, I’ll take that.”

“By the way, what about you Joon-ah? Do you know what you want to study in college?”

“Oh, I haven’t told you yet? I want to be an English teacher.”

Namjoon surprised Seokjin by coming home without telling him. He showed up in Seokjin and Yoongi’s apartment after they moved in for college. “Surprise, hyung!”

“Yah! Why didn’t you say anything!” Seokjin said but not before jumping to hug Namjoon. Namjoon gained muscles, like a lot. So it was easy for him to swing Seokjin around like he weighed nothing. “Look at you! Are you taller than me? Hey! That’s not fair!”

Namjoon just giggled as he set Seokjin back down.

“Oh, hey Joon-ah. You’re here.” Yoongi said, looking out from his room.

“Hey, hyung. Sorry for the wait.”

“It’s okay. Welcome back. Do you have your things with you?”

“Yeah, I don’t have a lot anyways.”

“What are you talking about? Yoongi, you knew about him coming home? Why didn’t you tell me?!” Seokjin asked with his hands on his hips.

“Hyung, remember when I told you someone else would be rooming with us?”

“Yes, you said it would be Hoseok.”

“Well, that’s partially true. My Hoseok will be rooming with us but we’re sharing a room. Namjoon’s the one taking the third room,” Yoongi said.

“Really? That’s amazing!” Seokjin said excitedly.

“When’s Hoseok moving in, hyung?” Namjoon asked Yoongi during dinner.

“Next week. I’m picking him up in Gwangju so I’ll have to leave you two alone for a bit,” Yoongi said.

Seokjin and Yoongi met Hoseok in a dance workshop in Gwangju. Yoongi and Seokjin found out they weren’t cut of for it but they met Hoseok who moved like he was the music. They got along pretty well. Yoongi fell in love, he fell face first in love with Hoseok, and fortunately, Hoseok felt the same so they started dating. The long-distance was difficult at first but they made it work and eventually, when Seokjin and Yoongi’s (and Namjoon’s parents, unknown to Seokjin) found the apartment, Yoongi asked Hoseok to move in with them.

Yoongi was now back in his room talking to Hoseok as if they won’t be meeting tomorrow. Namjoon and Seokjin were left in the kitchen cleaning up. They decided to stay on the balcony, looking at the city view outside. Namjoon moved closer to Seokjin and when he was close enough, he pulled Seokjin in, hugging him close.

“I missed you so much, hyung.”

“I missed you too, Joon-ah,”

Namjoon changed so much in a span of one year. He was taller, bigger, and manlier than Seokjin remembered. His voice is much deeper, and surprisingly, his dimples too. He had an air of confidence surrounding him that Seokjin found absolutely attractive. In short, Namjoon was hot. It was bad for Seokjin’s heart.

It was a lot harder for Seokjin when Yoongi left for the weekend to pick up Hoseok in Gwangju. Namjoon was a lot more…sluttier. His shorts were shorter, oh dear god. He started wearing less, preferring to only wear his booty shorts and no shirt at home. HE WOULD WORK OUT IN THE BALCONY WHERE SEOKJIN COULD SEE. Seokjin was just a mess.

Namjoon and Hoseok got along pretty well. It helped that they were the same age. Hoseok was surprised to find out that he graduated at the same time as Seokjin and Yoongi. Hoseok also graduated early but Namjoon graduated two years in advance!

“What do you mean you’re not dating?” Hoseok asked Namjoon and Seokjin, who were sitting next to each other, squished on one side of the couch despite the abundance of space. Namjoon’s arm was around Seokjin’s shoulder and Seokjin had laid his head on Namjoon’s chest.

Ok, so they kinda do look like a couple.

“Well…” Namjoon said, making Seokjin’s face burn red.

“Ah… I see,” Hoseok said as he continued to eat. “I thought Yoongi-hyung was exaggerating when he said you two were bad.”

“Yah! Yoongi-yah! Are you already destroying mine and Namjoon’s images to Hoseok? You brat, I raised you from the ground!” Seokjin said but he didn’t move from his place.

“You didn’t do a good job, hyung. Look at him, he’s barely grown!”

“Say goodbye to your knees, bastards,” Yoongi said, making Hoseok throw his head back, laughing.

If high school was bad, college was worse, Namjoon thought. Seokjin grew up to be even more beautiful than he was in high school. He was like a flower that has fully bloomed. He looked like a dream. Namjoon knew people had their eyes on him immediately the minute they walked into the room. Namjoon and Seokjin shared many classes, thankfully. The ones he didn’t share with Namjoon, he shared with either Yoongi or Hoseok. Namjoon asked the two to keep an eye on him when he wasn’t around. Yoongi just smirked at him but Namjoon didn’t mind.

Unbeknownst to Namjoon, Seokjin asked the exact same thing to Yoongi and Hoseok. “Hyung, he’s old enough. He doesn’t need to be watched over.”

“You know what I’m trying to say!”

“Ugh, fine. Make sure Namjoon’s not seduced by another person, got it.”

“Shut up.”

Seokjin continued the tradition of making Namjoon’s lunches for him, which Namjoon absolutely loved. Seokjin was surprised to find out that he kept the pokemon lunch bag and lunch box until today. Namjoon asked Seokjin to make his lunch with those, just like in high school. When Hoseok first saw them in their kitchen cupboard, he was confused.

“A pokemon lunch box? Really?”

“Seokjin made Namjoon’s lunches back in high school with that same lunch box. That’s like a relic in their relationship,” Yoongi explained.

Hoseok’s expression turned from baffled to absolutely adored after Yoongi said that. “Oh. that’s so sweet. Hyung, why don’t we have anything like that?”

“We didn’t date in high school.”

“Excuses.”

Seokjin noticed that Namjoon became clingier and bolder after he came back from U.S but he didn’t mind. He enjoyed the attention. He loved it when Namjoon would put his arm around his shoulders or when he would hug him from behind. He thrived in Namjoon’s affection but he still wasn’t brave enough to admit anything. He knew Namjoon and Yoongi thought he was clueless but he was not. He knew since high school that he and Namjoon were more than friends. He was just too much of a coward to act on it.

“What are you thinking hyung?” Namjoon, who was laying down on his bed, asked while Seokjin studied at his table.

“Hyung’s just exhausted, Namjoon-ah.”

Namjoon patted the space beside him, “Come rest for a bit, hyung.”

Seokjin didn’t even think twice. He climbed to bed and laid beside Namjoon, cuddling into him closer and burying his nose in Namjoon’s shirt. Inhaling deeply, he closed his eyes as Namjoon played with his hair. It was only a matter of time before he fell asleep.

“You know that you and Seokjin-hyung are practically dating, right?” Yoongi asked him one night.

“Yep.”

“But hyung doesn’t know.”

“He’s clueless as fuck.”

“And you’re ok with that?”

“No, I’m not. But I want Seokjin-hyung to be more comfortable with the idea of us actually dating before I finally ask him. He’s also kinda clueless when it comes to things like love and such. So there’s still a lot to work on before I ask him out.”

“That makes sense. I’m pretty impressed with your patience,” Yoongi said.

“I’ve been waiting since Junior year of high school, hyung. Then I had to spend a year far away from him. A few more months won’t bother me.”

“Months? Wow, you sound confident.”

“Hyung, Seokjin-hyung already likes me, everyone but him knows that. He just needs a little more time to realize it.” Namjoon told Yoongi.

Seokjin was in a terrible mood. They had an exchange student in school and Namjoon was tasked to help her with one subject. It was logical because Namjoon was fluent in English but that meant that he was spending a little less time with Seokjin than before. It wasn’t that much time if Seokjin was honest. But it still pissed him off.

“Hyung, Namjoon’s gay. So gay. Gay for you. You don’t have to worry,” Hoseok teased him.

Seokjin, who wasn’t in the mood for joking sighed and said, “I know.”

Hoseok was surprised. “You know? That he’s gay for you?”

“Of course, I do. He’s not really very secretive about it.”

“How long have you known?”

“Since he gave me that box of homemade cookies.”

“The charcoal cookies? So Senior year in high school?”

“First of all, Yoongi was exaggerating. They weren’t that bad! Second, yes, since our Senior year in high school,” he sighed once again, pouting as he watched Namjoon and the foreign student talk from afar. “I know they think I’m dumb and clueless about everything but I’m not. I’m just…”

“Just what?”

“Scared,” he finally admitted. Seokjin felt much lighter after telling Hoseok. He felt like he could finally talk to someone about it.

“Scared? Why?”

“Cause he’s my best friend–don’t tell Yoongi, – so I’m scared that things would change. And what if we didn’t work? I can’t lose him…”

“Hyung, how long have you known Namjoon?”

“Four years, I think?”

“How long have you two liked each other?”

“More than three…”

“Don’t you think that’s enough testament on how Namjoon loves you? Three years, hyung, and he didn’t give up. He didn’t even pester you about it. He’s waiting for you.”

“I know that. It’s just…”

“It’s okay, hyung. It’s valid to be scared because this is gonna be a big change for both of you,”

“Is it, though? I feel like we’ve been dating for so long but just without the labels.”

“Huh, you’re right. Then nothing should stop you from making things official, right? It’ll make you and Namjoon much happier. Specially Namjoon. Imagine how happy he will be. He deserves that after being so patient and understanding, don't you think?”

Hoseok made a lot of points. He really did. What Seokjin wanted was right in from of him, and Namjoon wanted him too! They would be happier. Happier than they were. So what exactly was he waiting for?

Namjoon noticed how clingy Seokjin was these past few days. He always made it a point to be next to Namjoon whether it was during lectures, breaks, or even just reading in the library. He was also clingy even at home. He would initiate hugs and cuddles more often, sometimes shyly standing in front of Namjoon before going for whatever he needed. Namjoon reveled at the affection. He loved it, he couldn’t think of anything better to explain it.

One time when he was helping out Sally, the foreign exchange student, she asked him where Seokjin was. Though that wasn’t how he asked Namjoon.

“Where’s your boyfriend? I haven’t seen him all day.”

“My what?” Namjoon asked.

“Your boyfriend. What’s his name again, Seokjin?”

“Ah, yes. His name is Seokjin. But he isn’t my boyfriend yet.” Namjoon explained.

“You’re lying to me.”

Namjoon chuckled. “I wish I was but we’re really not dating yet. Soon, but not yet.”

“Huh, I thought you two were together already.”

“No, but we get that a lot. There’s just a lot of things we have to work out before we date.”

“I see,” Sally said, nodding in understanding. “Well, I hope things work out for the two of you. And don’t worry. I won’t tell people.”

“Tell people what?”

“That you’re not dating yet,”

“Why?”

Sally looked at him weirdly before a look of realization replaced the confusion. “Oh! You didn’t know? I heard from what little Korean I know that people are lining up for a chance with Seokjin. And you too, of course, but a lot more people with Seokjin. They’re waiting for you two to confirm your relationship or break-up, or whatever. I thought you knew.”

“N-no. I didn’t.” Namjoon said, frowning. “Thanks for telling me. But Sally? If anyone asks you tell them we’re dating. It’s just a matter of time anyway.”

Sally laughed out loud at how annoyed and determined Namjoon was. “Aye aye captain.”

Namjoon has to act and he has to act now before someone else tries.

Unlike Namjoon who was just starting with his plans, Seokjin was ready. He had a plan that was ready to be executed. Both Namjoon and Seokjin didn’t have classes on Thursdays so Seokjin picked that day. He bought tickets to a museum that Namjoon said he wanted to check out. He had dinner planned, he’ll cook for the both of them. He asked Yoongi and Hoseok to give them a couple of hours alone. The two gladly and excitedly agreed. “2 more days,” he told himself.

Namjoon came home that day pissed. He went to look for Seokjin as soon as he arrived at their apartment and found him watering Namjoon’s plants on the balcony. He hugged Seokjin from behind, startling the other.

“Yah! Kim Namjoon! Stop scaring me like that! Aish, this kid!” Seokjin said, fussing in Namjoon’s arms but not really making an effort to escape from the hug.

“Hyung, what do you think about the men at the University?”

“Huh? What brought this on?”

“Nothing. But just answer the question, hyung.”

“W-well. They’re fine? I don’t know, I’m not really looking at them.”

“That’s good, hyung. Don’t bother looking. They’re all ugly anyway,”

“I’m sure some are okay looking, Namjoon-ah. But don’t be mistaken! No one is as handsome as me!” Seokjin joked.

Namjoon smiled and said, “Damn right.”

“What’s up with you today? Did you fall off the bed again?”

“Hyung! I told you that in confidence!”

“I’m sure Hoseok and Yoongi heard. So they know even if you didn’t tell them.”

“Ugh, Hoseok will never let me live it down.”

“As he should, you stupid idiot.”

“You’re so sweet to me, hyung.”

“Namjoon-ah, wanna go somewhere on Thursday?” Seokjin asked him. He sounded calm, which impressed himself but inside him was a turmoil.

“Where do you wanna go, hyung?”

“I’ll tell you on Thursday. Are you free?”

“Yep. You know I am.”

“Dress like you’re going to the museum,” Seokjin told Namjoon when he asked where they were going. So he did. Namjoon dressed like he was going to the museum on a date. The last part was important because it meant he put a lot of effort into his outfit because he needed to look HOT.

He came out of his room and found Seokjin waiting for him on the couch. He was wearing a polo shirt with what looked like an abstract black and white floral pattern paired with black slacks. He looked ready to eat.

“Hey, Namjoon. Ready?” Seokjin asked him with a smile. Namjoon nodded and they headed out.

Namjoon was so excited when he realized they were actually going to the museum he always wanted to check but never had the time to. He got so excited that he dragged Seokjin from one place to another and explained some of the paintings and sculptures there.

“Ah, hyung. Sorry, I went overboard, haven’t I?” Namjoon asked, embarrassed once he realized Seokjin didn’t say a thing during Namjoon’s entire ‘tour’.

“Not at all. I-I thought it was cute how excited you are…” Seokjin admitted shyly.

After the museum, they went to an arcade where Seokjin demolished Namjoon in every game they played.

“This is how you do it, Joon-ah! Learn from the master! That’s right! I’m the master!” Seokjin said as he won yet another game.

Namjoon was just as competitive as Seokjin so he asked for so many rematches but he lost every time. “Shut up,” Namjoon grumbled, crossing his arms in front of his chest.

They then went to take a walk along the river until it was sun down. That was when Seokjin asked Namjoon if they could go home. Namjoon was a little sad that their ‘date’ ended but he was happy to have spent the day with just Seokjin.

“I’ll cook dinner, Joon-ah. Just sit there, okay?” Seokjin told him when Namjoon asked what he wanted for dinner. Seokjin didn’t even ask Namjoon what he wanted. He just went to the kitchen and started cooking.

Namjoon’s phone buzzed with a text from Hoseok and Yoongi. Apparently, they were on a date themselves and won’t be home till late in the evening. That meant that Namjoon had Seokjin for himself for a couple of hours.

“Dinner’s ready!” Seokjin called out after a while.

Namjoon arrived in the kitchen and saw that everything has been set up. Seokjin didn’t just make dinner. He cooked an entire buffet. “Wow, hyung! This looks so good!” He commented. Seokjin looked down smiling and said a quiet thank you.

Namjoon was still busy wolfing down his food while Seokjin stared at him. He couldn’t eat anything. He felt so nervous and he couldn’t stay still. He didn’t know when the perfect time to ask was so he just said fuck it and asked.

“Be my boyfriend,” Seokjin asked.

Namjoon gasped mid-swallow, making the food go to the wrong pipe. He started coughing and Seokjin panicked. He stood and went to Namjoon’s side, thumping his back lightly. Finally when Namjoon was alright, he took Seokjin’s hands in his, holding them firmly as he looked at Seokjin straight in the eye. “Hyung, what did you say?”

“You heard what I said! Don’t make me repeat it, I’ll die!” Seokjin complained, looking away.

“You want me to be your boyfriend?”

“Of course I do, you idiot.” Seokjin said, “Stop smiling! You’re making things weird!”

“How am I making things weird?” Namjoon asked with a very wide smile.

“J-just, say something!”

“What do you want me to say?” Namjoon teased.

“Stop teasing me, you brat!”

“Hyuuuung. Say it again, I didn’t hear it properly.”

“YES, YOU DID! STOP LYING!”

“No, I didn’t. Ask me again, hyung. Properly.” Namjood said.

“Are you saying I didn’t ask you properly?! I took you out on a date! I even went clothes shopping! AND I COOKED YOU FOOD!” Seokjin’s ears were so so red, Namjoon was worried they’d burn and fall off.

“Oh, is that why your top buttons were unbuttoned, hyung. You sly man~”

“Y-YOU! You know what, never mind. If you don’t want to then don’t!” Seokjin said as he stood up and walked a few steps away, his back facing Namjoon. Seokjin could feel his skin, from head to toe, turning red. He felt so embarrassed!

Namjoon giggled from behind him and walked towards Seokjin. He pulled the older one close and then whispered to Seokjin’s ear, “It’ll be an honor, hyung.”

Seokjin shuddered as Namjoon whispered to him. “S-so it’s a yes?”

“Of course, it is,” Namjoon whispered again.

“S-stop!”

“Why, hyung?” Namjoon asked with a deep laugh that sent a shock of electricity throughout Seokjin’s body. Seokjin couldn’t answer, he tried but he failed. Namjoon spun him around so they were facing each other. “Hyung, can I kiss you, please?”

Seokjin let out an incomprehensible sound before nodding because the words weren’t working at the moment. Namjoon laughed again before dipping his head down to kiss Seokjin. Seokjin felt embarrassed when he let out an involuntary moan. Namjoon chuckled against his lips before kissing him deeper.

They don’t remember how long they made out but it was pretty long. Seokjin’s lips were starting to feel a bit sore. He had a couple of hickeys on his neck and on his chest. Namjoon somehow managed to unbutton Seokjin’s shirt without him even noticing. They only stopped when they were rudely interrupted by Hoseok.

“WHERE’S THE SPACE FOR JESUS? IS THIS HOW CHILDREN ARE LIKE THESE DAYS?!”

“So, I take it everything went well?” Yoongi asked. Then he saw Seokjin fumble to button up his shirt, “Please don’t do it in the kitchen. We have our meals here.”

“AND THE HOLY SPIRIT!”

“Hoseok, dear, we’re not religious.”

“I know. I just wanted to act like a scandalized white mom.”

Namjoon couldn’t help but laugh out so loud, startling the other three people in the room.

“How long have you known that you liked me, hyung?” Namjoon asked as they lay on Seokjin’s bed that night. Namjoon felt happy and he just wasn’t ready to part with Seokjin yet. Not even for sleep.

“Since valentines day of our Senior year.”

“That long?! Why didn’t you say anything?!”

“I’m shy and I’m awkward! Did you actually expect me to make the first move?!”

“You made the first move just today, hyung.”

“Because I was jealous of that Sally girl!”

That was a surprise. “Hyung, first of all, that doesn’t make any sense,”

“I know!”

“I’m gay”

“I KNOW!”

“I’ve been in love with you since we were in high school,”

“I KNOW!”

“And she’s a  lesbian.”

“...I didn’t know that part.”

“So you’re saying that what made you finally ask me out was because you were jealous? Of a woman? Who only liked other women?”

“Shut up, you make me sound like an idiot.”

“You are.”

“Let’s break up.”

Namjoon laughed before cuddling Seokjin and kissing his hair, “Big mistake, hyung. You’re not getting rid of me anymore.”

“I don’t wanna get rid of you anyway.”

After Seokjin fell asleep, Namjoon went out to the balcony and dialed his sister’s number.

“Oppa, I swear to fucking god I’ll kick you in the balls the next time we meet,” his sister said groggily, obviously pissed to be woken up at two in the morning.

“He asked me out!” Namjoon said so happily.

“Oh, damn, before you could?” His sister asked, sounding more awake now. “Tell me everything that happened,” and Namjoon did. Namjoon did not spare one detail. “I didn’t need to know about my brother making out with his boyfriend in the kitchen, oppa. But I’ll let it slide because I’m so happy for you. But as payment for waking me up, I’m telling eomma and appa and  Seokjin-oppa’s Eomma and Appa about it tomorrow. So expect a lot of calls tomorrow.”

Seokjin’s mother sent him a care package with lots and lots of condoms and lubes, much to his and Namjoon’s embarrassment. Hoseok however, was very excited about the package and asked Seokjin for some items which Seokjin happily gave him. He left some for them just in case…

Seokjin felt bad that he haven’t told Namjoon that he loved him yet. They’ve been dating for about a year now, but Seokjin still felt so embarrassed every time he thought of saying those three words to Namjoon.

Namjoon understood. Of course, he wanted to hear Seokjin say “I love you” to him but he understood that it was difficult especially because Seokjin had been emotionally constipated for more than three years before they started dating. Namjoon had no issues telling Seokjin though. He loved when Seokjin would blush when he whispered the words.

One time, Seokjin’s face got so red after Namjoon said his 50th I love you of the hour. “Stop saying you love me!”

“But why hyung? I do love you,” Namjoon teased.

“Because I can’t say it yet! It’s not fair…”

He gave Seokjin a soft and gentle smile before kissing his cheek, “It’s okay, hyung. You know I’m a patient man. I’ll wait till you are ready. For the time being, I’ll be the one to say I love you for the both of us, okay?”

Time flew so fast. By their third year, Hoseok and Yoongi decided to move out and find a place of their own for privacy. Namjoon and Seokjin decided to do the same. They held a small celebration on their last day in the apartment. Hoseok got so drunk that he cried and refused to let go of Seokjin until Yoongi pried him off of him.

Seokjin and Namjoon’s apartment was much smaller than the one they lived in but it was enough for the both of them. What’s better was that Yoongi and Hoseok lived in the apartment right across from theirs so they still could do what they’ve been doing when the four of them lived together.

It was when they were decorating the house that Seokjin finally said it. Namjoon was on a step ladder installing a light bulb when Seokjin said “I love you” for the first time. It caught Namjoon so off guard that he stepped back and forgot he was on a ladder. It wasn’t a bad fall but he did hurt his ankle. Seokjin called Yoongi immediately and they rushed Namjoon to the hospital.

Thankfully, nothing was broken but the doctor advised Namjoon to take it easy for the next 3 weeks.

“It was worth it, hyung.”

“No, it’s not! You’re hurt, you stupid dumb idiot!”

“Say you love me, hyung.”

“...I love you.”

Many Many Years later

“Jimin, did you hear the rumors?” Taehyung asked Jimin as he sat down next to his friend.

“What rumor?” Jimin asked.

“Someone said they heard Mr. Kim of English and Mr. Kim of Home Economics fighting in the faculty room again.”

“Oh god, they really can’t stand each other?”

“Looks like it.”

It was pretty known in school that the two Mr. Kims hated each other. They would often be heard calling each other names like ‘idiot’ and ‘dumb’. Mr. Kim of English (Mr. Namjoon to students) would tell Mr. Min that Mr. Kim of Home Economics (Mr. Seokjin to students)  was emotionally constipated or dense while Mr. Kim of Home Econ was once heard telling his students that the other Mr. Kim was useless in the kitchen and would hurt himself if left without parent supervision.

Apparently, it has been that way since they were in high school. They were always competing academically. Always competing for the first place. They even went to the same university to continue competing with each other.

“I’m telling you, guys. They don’t hate each other! That’s called sexual tension!” Jungkook, their new friend who just transferred this year, said to them.

“What do you know about sexual tension, Koo.” Jimin snorted.

“One day, you’ll see and you’ll eat all your words,” Jungkook said in pout.

“I’ll give you my one-month allowance if that happens, koo.” Taehyung bet.

“Me too,” Jimin seconded.

The students’ chatter subsided as Mr. Namjoon entered the classroom. It was an easy day today. The students were tasked to make a reflection paper based on the story Mr. Namjoon read and explained to them. The students were busy, and save for a few chatters here and there, the room was completely quiet.

Suddenly, the door busted open. All of the students turned their attention to the door and found a fuming Mr. Seokjin right outside.

“Oh, shit. Are they gonna fight?” One of their classmates asked.

“You idiot!” Mr. Seokjin said, pointing at Mr. Namjoon. “If you forget your lunch one more time, I’m letting you starve! I’m not sharing my food with you anymore!” He said as he stomped toward Mr. Namjoon before handing him a…pokemon lunch bag? Mr. Seokjin slams the door shut, startling the students.

Mr. Namjoon looked calm, in fact, he was smiling, while the students were so confused about what just happened. After a moment, the door slid slightly open, Mr. Seokjin peeking into the classroom a little.

Namjoon knew what Seokjin wanted. He had to go to school a bit earlier than usual today but he didn’t wake his boyfriend up. So Seokjin was pouty and whiny. He set his lunch bag on his table before walking outside. “You big baby,” he said before giving Seokin his good morning kiss. “Good morning, beautiful,”

“Good morning, you idiot,” Seokjin said.

“I love you.”
“I love you too.”

The students' mouths were open in shock at what they heard. Mr. Namjoon forgot to close the door when he walked out so they heard everything. Taehyung, being the busy body that he was, even peeped at the door. Some of his classmates, Jimin included, followed. So many saw everything as well.

Namjoon just laughed when he opened the door and found some students watching his and Seokjin’s exchange. The couple was aware of the rumors going around in school. In fact, he knew who started the rumor, it was Yoongi. He said he was bored so he told one student who told another student who told another student. Seokjin found it hilarious so they didn’t bother clearing things up.

The students returned to their seats and Namjoon returned to his table. “Sorry, Mr. Seokjin gets whiny if I don’t give him his good morning kiss. And I didn’t today, so that happened.” Namjoon chuckled, “Anyway, enough of that. Continue your work, kids.”

“I’ll wait until Friday for my money,” Jungkook told his friends.

“Fuck,”

“Language.” Mr. Namjoon said.

“Dad! Appa! I’m home!” Jungkook said as he skipped to his room upstairs.

“Yah! Kim Jungkook! Don’t run on the stairs! Do you want to fall?!”

“I’m not like Appa, Dad!”

“Hey, I heard that!”

During dinner, Jungkook decided to ask his parents why they did what they did. “Now everyone knows that you don’t hate each other, Appa! No fun!” He complained.

“Is that why you asked us to transfer you where we work?” Namjoon asked his son.

“Uncle Yoongi and Uncle Hoseok said it was funny. And they were right! But now it’s no fun anymore!”

“Stop hanging out with your uncles too much. They’re bad influence,” Seokjin told Jungkook.

“I don’t think you barging in to the classroom to berate Appa about forgetting his lunch again is good influence, dad.”

“Stop being such a smarty pants and eat your food, will you?”

“Next time, at least don’t kiss in front of everyone. It’s disgusting.”

“JUST EAT YOUR DINNER!” Seokjin said, his face as red as the kimchi they were eating.
