Twilight's Problems

Summary:

Twilight finds himself staring at his wife's lips a little too much for his liking, he has to find out why

Work Text:

Twilight had faced multiple type of situations and problems before, whether it would be diffusing a bomb or having his (fake) daughter pass her exams. He was confident in his own skills, he had picked up multiple knowledge and talents throughout his decade of working as a spy. He had faced too many deadly encounters, none of them managing to kill him off, he is the great agent Twilight of course. But he had quite a small problem, and he was sure it would kill him if it wasn’t fixed soon.

Yor’s lips.

No matter how hard he tries, he somehow can’t get his eyes off her lips. It was true that his wife had a pretty face, probably the prettiest face he had ever seen his whole life, he wouldn’t want to admit.

Yor had lips, like any other human being, so why did it affect him so much? Twilight always found himself staring, sometimes even being caught by Yor who suddenly leaves the room when she catches him looking. Leaving a confused and dejected Loid, ‘Oh no, did I make her uncomfortable?’ he would think.

He tried to focus on Anya’s lips, listening to her yap about the latest Bondman episode and about how her friend Becky bought a new yacht. Not even a few seconds later, Twilight finds himself no longer interested in his daughter’s gabbling. He then tried to focus on his Handler’s lips, earning him a “Can you please stop staring Twilight? It’s weird”.

Now what if Yor thought he was weird too? Did she see him as a creep? A pervert? He didn’t want her to think that, an upset Yor would lead to operation Strix failing! He had to fix this problem– for the mission of course, not because his personal feelings are involved and it would definitely hurt his ego if Yor thought of him as a weirdo.

But his little experiment still hasn’t answered his question, why does Yor’s lips affect him so much?

You’ve gotten soft, Twilight.

For the first time in a decade, Twilight found himself distracted. All his years of spy training, those times he learned to never let his guard down no matter the situation, gone just because of his wife’s lips. It was absolutely absurd! It was a hindrance to the mission, he had to find out why.

He couldn’t ask Sylvia, she would say he had caught romantic feelings for his fake wife– which is definitely not true– and Twilight would no longer be qualified to be a spy. He most definitely won’t ask Anya, how would a six year old help him when she can’t even do simple math? He couldn’t ask Nightfall either, he trusts her as a fellow agent but he’s not sure he’s comfortable with sharing her such information.

Thinking about who to ask for advice just made Twilight realize how friendless he is.

Spies weren’t allowed to have such deep relationships with people, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have a moral support human. Which is why Frankie Franklin exists.

“Frankie.”

“If you want me to babysit Anya again then thats a n-”

“Frankie, I have.. a problem” Twilight cut in, looking at his friend with a serious face. The informant quickly closed his mouth, knowing better. Frankie knew that face of Twilight’s all too well, the face he makes when the problem is very serious. Frankie hummed, drumming his fingers on his desk to indicate that he was listening.

“It’s about Yor…” Twilight began, sighing and resting his elbows on Frankie’s desk “There's something about her lately” he said before Frankie could shoot him a comment about how he shouldn’t flex his love life to single people. “What? Did you find out she’s an SSS officer? Or maybe an enemy spy?” Frankie asked jokingly, Twilight’s serious face didn’t move an inch. “That’s ridiculous,” he said.

“Well-”

“Frankie.”

Frankie sighed “Go straight to the point, what’s the problem with Yor? You wanna divorce her or what”. Twilight looked at the informant in horror, divorce his (fake) wife?! Yor was crucial to operation Strix! He needed her– for the mission of course– why would Frankie suggest such a thing?!

“No,” Twilight shook his head “I think… I have a problem about myself as well”

Frankie nodded, slowly getting impatient at the moment “Just spit it out already”.

“I have… a lips problem..” Twilight said in an almost whisper, as if scared to admit it “I somehow can't get my eyes off Yor’s lips… It’s getting distracting and becoming a huge hindrance to the mission–”

“Oh for god’s sake you’re a psychiatrist, Loid!” Frankie snapped, facepalming “You’re a spy, a honey trap!” he whispered the last part. Twilight looked at the informant in confusion, what does his fake job and his real one have to do with this?

“And?” Twilight waited for Frankie’s response, the other not responding for a whole minute. “Well, do you tend to stare at other people’s lips too?” Frankie finally asked, leaning backwards on his chair. “No, only Yor.” Twilight replied, his gaze dropping to look at his hands. “Not even Nightfall? Sylvia? Maybe Karen or any of those women you used for your missions?-”

“No. This is the first time this has happened to me,” Twilight said, still not connecting the dots. Frankie scoffed before giving him a mischievous smirk.

“That means you want to kiss her”

Twilight looked at Frankie in true horror this time, his eyes widening. No, Frankie was just joking right? That definitely won’t be the case, he has no reason to kiss his (fake) wife. Yor doesn’t have any valuable information for Twilight to fish out, he doesn’t need to kiss her– seduce her and whisper sweet nothings into her ear.. Twilight’s imagination wandered. No, he shouldn’t think about such things, about how Yor’s lips would feel against his–

“Is there a way to make it stop?” Twilight was aware of the blush creeping up his cheeks and ears, something he can’t control. Frankie laughed, as if making fun of Twilight being in such a hopeless romantic position “You have to kiss her of course, that’ll probably make it stop”.

Kiss her? Will that really help his situation? Twilight doubts his friend’s way of giving love advice. He doesn’t want to cross Yor’s boundaries, what if he suddenly kissed her out of nowhere? Would she reciprocate his feelings? What if she doesn’t feel the same way, would she be too uncomfortable to even continue their marriage? Twilight didn’t want that to happen.

Feeling hopeless, he walked back to his apartment to find Yor sitting in the living room. His chest tightened, memory flashing back to what Frankie said before. Should he?

“Loid, you’re back!” Yor said, flashing him a smile– a very deadly move. Now even her smile is threatening to kill him, what’s happening to him? “Anya is in her room, probably playing with Bond– Loid?”

Twilight found himself staring at her lips again, what if he just grabbed her pretty face and pressed his lips against hers? Wouldn’t that be easier? For the first time in his years of espionage he found himself clueless on what to do. Should he just ask if he could kiss her? They’re married after all. But no, their marriage was fake, he had to remind himself over and over again. Yor held no romantic feelings for him at all.

“Yor, can I kiss you?”

Now where the hell did that come from.
