Chapter Text
Leon took another big gulp of his energy drink just to make sure he wouldn't pass out right in the middle of a meet and greet while every fan seemed absolutely static to see him there.
He would be lying if he said he wasn't really fucking tired. He had a very tight and full schedule now that the championship was about to start.
He would be lying if he said he wasn't really damn excited too. To see his brother finally fulfilling his own dream of participating on the event, specially with such a strong rival as Gloria.
He would also be lying if he said he wasn't really damn tired of this. Traveling here and there, attending every single conference and photoshoot Rose put him through with the most brilliant smile ever matched with the most confident posture ever. Being champion was tiring. And he deeply wish he could just lose to make this curse go away.
But who would him lose to? His brother? Raihan? He couldn't possibly fathom the possibility of them living this exhausting hellbent life he was stuck on. So he wins. He wins so he doesn't have to see those who he loves go through this. He's unbeatable.
"Mr. Leon! Mr. Leon! Please sign my shirt! I'm your biggest fan!" A funny looking kid shouted at him, yanking him out of his thoughts.
"Oh, is that so?" Said him, with a grin and a sweet voice. Just like he rehearsed on the mirror. "Great to see my biggest fan on this day! Do you want me write something else, kid?"
"No! Just the autograph! Please!"
"Alright, alright. There we go."
He finished signing the kid's shirt, then the kid only thanked him very loudly and grinned ear to ear. Seeing such honest happiness on such a pure being made him smile involuntary. Maybe being champion wasn't so bad.
-
Scratch that. Being champion is a nightmare.
Leon groans as he peels off of his binder. That thing has been suffocating his ribs for hours and now his back hurts. Again.
He also has some other complaints. Like the headache he got when a group of school kids began screeching upon seeing Charizard, or like Rose kept reminding him to smile even though even the hair on his head screamed from pain and discomfort.
When he finally gets out of the shower and gets properly prepared to sleep like the fucking dead, he checks his phone and sees someone is calling him.
For a split second he gets fully prepared to deny the call if the ID is "Oleana", but he quickly picks up when he realizes Raihan is the one calling him.
"Hey Lee."
Suddenly he forgets about all the pain on his body and just smiles like a lovesick idiot that he is.
"Hey, Han."
"You okay, dude? You sound exhausted."
"I'm fine. Just had a long day. You?"
"Oh I'm pretty good! The opening ceremony wasn't that bad this year. They even got my good angles on the drone cameras!" Leon noted he sounded like he was chewing something. Like he was lying down eating his random ass snacks while talking to him. The thought made he smile again.
"You're so ridiculous." He thought Raihan probably could hear the grin on his voice.
"What can I say, I'm worried about the right stuff. Uncle got you free this week?"
"I think just around Friday, maybe? But I'm not so sure about that. He is pretty good at making me attend things last minute on my days off."
"That man is working ya to the bone, man. Next time just tell him no and walk away. I don't think you could get fired from the champion job anyways."
"Yeah you're right. But i can't walk away from a phone call you know."
"Metaphorically, you can. Don't try to argue with me, you know I'm always right at everything."
"Yeah, yeah sure, Master of dragons."
"Fuck you. Anyway I bought a new game and it looks really damn cool and I want you here to play it with me. Friday at 10AM. If you don't show up I will kidnap you. You've been warned."
Chuckling, he replies "Okay okay I promise I'll be there!"
"You better be, bitch or I'll go get you. Anyway, Good night for you, you're probably really damn tired right now. You need your beauty sleep to maintain this pretty face."
"O-oh. Good night."
And with that, he hears the beep of the call ending and turns off his bedside lamp so he could sleep. Only when his eyes are closed does he notices that his face is still burning.
