Whoops and shouts had Marinette rushing toward Adrien’s front door.
He answered on the second banging with a wide grin on his face. It’d been a while since she’d seen him so excited, but that didn’t stop her from glaring at him.
“You do realize that you have neighbors, right? You aren’t back in your father’s mansion.” She pushed past him into his apartment, long used to their familiarity with each other’s place. “What has you so excited anyway?”
He released another whoop a second before his arms wrapped around her waist. He spun her in several circles until she shouted at him to put her down.
Dizzy and a little miffed at him, Marinette gave her best disappointed ‘mom’ glare. “Spill it or no more of my special passion fruit macarons.”
“Oh, Mari, you wouldn’t.” Out came the puppy dog eyes.
She nodded. “I would.”
His sad expression washed away in the next second as he finally said, “I got the job.”
“You did?” At his nod, she let out her own whoop of joy. “Oh, Adrien, I’m so proud of you.”
She jumped into his arms and allowed him to spin her several times more.
“I couldn’t have done it without you, either,” he said when he finally brought them to a stop. “I’d like to take you to celebrate, too. Name the place.”
“I’ve got one better. I’ll make your favorite meal tonight, then you can take me out when you get your first paycheck.”
“It’s a date.”
Her smile matched his as she said, “Yes, it’s a date.”
