Keigo and you had been friends the moment you had summoned him by accident in your house when you were practicing summoning spells. It wasn't your intention to call him, the last thing you knew after you finished the spell was Keigo Takami, Hawks in the Demon Realm, appearing in front of you with an annoyed yet flattered look in his face.
To him, it was more of an honor than disturbance. Keigo had heard of you, an apprentice of the infamous witch, Uraraka Ochaco- who never used their learnings to harm anyone in the human realm. He had wanted to meet you but refused to pay a visit, he wanted you to summon him, yet at the same time he didn't want to see you for some reason. How he sees you and what he feels for you, it's a conflict that will never be solved.
You rarely summon the red-winged demon, but when you do, it was usually because Dabi, an incubus, also a friend of his, disturbs you. Keigo pointed out that you only needed him to keep Dabi out of your personal space, you pointing out that he's the only one that can control a feral incubus have worked enough for him to pay a visit everytime he loses sight of the ravenette.
Keigo developed a habit of tracking Dabi's every movement, and as the incubus kept coming back to bother you, Hawks' visits became regular, he was always there even before Dabi appears in your sight. Keigo never bothered you, nor tried to engage you in conversations, he was just there, protectively. In those moments, you had asked him to be your friend, and he bombarded you with a statement that made you laugh.
"𝘒𝘪𝘥, 𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵, 𝘸𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴. 𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘮𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘸."
When Dabi stopped coming, Keigo's regular visits turned into frequents. His self invites stopped after you have successfully summoned Shoto Todoroki, the demon king. Keigo only appeared when you summon him, just like before.
"𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘯 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘤𝘩𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳, 𝘬𝘪𝘥?" Was his reason.
You were worried for about a month, that was when Keigo reassured you that nothing would change the fact that he will be here when you call, that his reasoning was just him being upset that he wasn't enough that you had to call in the demon king himself to be a friend of yours. You believed him, and you probably shouldn't have.
Because to Hawks, it was more than just being upset, it was more than just envious for another demon taking his place. He knew what Shoto is capable of, he knew what the demon king could do. It was his insecurity, it was his jealousy. He was jealous, not because of the thought he would be replaced, but because he might lose you to a demon he dreaded.

In a middle of a meeting in the Demon Realm, Keigo found his ears perking up. His body glowed and his senses tingled the way he had gotten used to. He looked at Shoto in the table, asking for consent as the demon king nodded in approval. He disappeared out of his own realm and was brought to a room that is too familiar for his own liking.
He looked around as the bright light disappeared and the room went dark, nothing but red candles lighting up your room. He searched for you, in bed, in the summoning circle, in the bathroom, in the closet, but no sign of you inside your own bedroom. Keigo frowned, for a moment he thought you learned an invisibility magic and that you were testing it on him, but he soon learned otherwise as he heard sounds of plates breaking, furnitures clattering and shouting beneath his feet.
He rushed out, worried of your well-being. This is the first time in four months that you have summoned any of the demons you usually call for, unpleasant noises like that? Definitely not a 'hello, I've been busy but I missed you guys!' welcome back greeting.
"You fucking whore!"
You glared, the metal taste in your mouth only grew stronger the moment the fist of the person hitting you made contact with your cheeks. You dropped down on the floor, blood dripping out of your lips.
"Why don't you use your witchcraft, huh?" The person taunted.
You continued to glare, refusing to submit to his provocation. You had made a promise, you will never use the power you harnessed to harm a human being. Your eyes grew big as he picked up a knife, you backed away as he approached closer. Each step making you stride backwards until you have nothing more to move back from, your back hit the wall and reality came crushing down you.
You brought your arms up as he readied to stab you with full force, you expected a noise of metal sinking in at your flesh, but none came.
Keigo was sure he felt like the whole world had stopped. Watching you, the person who never faltered under the gaze of the other realm creatures, scramble away from an abusive person, fear visible in your face, hands trembling and covering yourself in an attempt to make it out alive, his blood boiled. He dashed just in time to use his wings as a shield for the both of you.
You opened your eyes, your breath syncing with another that made you tear up. You had never been thankful to meet a demon's eyes. Keigo stared back at you with a scowl, a glare in his golden-brown eyes. You've seen the look he has before, it was the same look he had gave the random incubus who showed up in your doorstep, it was the same one plastered in his face when Dabi gets too close for comfort.
You didn't like it. Before you could speak and stop him, Keigo backed away from you and stood up. His back faced you with all its glory, red, blazing wings spread out, covering your sight of above.
Keigo is mad, he's raging. He didn't like the fear present in your orbs, nor the way you tremble as he inched closer even though he was protecting you. He was shielding you out of pain, yet the way you looked at him, it was like he was causing it; and he didn't like that, he didn't want that.
"Who.. who the hell are you, man?! Are you even human!?!" Your abuser is panicking, he didn't know what to do. A creature standing tall before him, protecting the fragile one from his attacks, it intimidated him. Not to mention the look Keigo is giving him, the demon wants to kill him.
"Name's Hawks, you pathetic excuse of a fucker." Keigo, with one swift move, grabbed him by the throat, hoisting him at the air with ease. His grip grew tight and tighter while the breathing ended up shallow and shallower. Your abuser passed out, you're not even sure if he's dead or alive.
Keigo, no- Hawks, he scares you. He's nothing like that sweet, teasing demon that he showed you. This is his true nature, he had possibly killed a man. So when he turned around to approach, wings retreating smaller and tense shoulders finally relaxing, you instinctively held a hand out, halting him to stop.
It pained him as much as it pained you, both of you not expecting that a day will come where you would be stopping him from coming closer. He wasn't a threat before, do you see him as one now?
Silence took over, Keigo never turned his eyes away from you. He took note of every marks covering your body, every fresh bruises that could be lethal if not treated. His gaze finally settled in your eyes. Look of desperation present in his eyes, he inched closer, your hands meeting his chest, and he stayed there, not moving further more as he saw your little flinch.
Softly, he started speaking. "Kid. It must have been scary. I'm sorry you had to witness.. that." His eyes stride off the side, "I lost it. I thought I was gonna lose you. You were gone for four months, no contact and suddenly I'm here in your house, and then.." His voice cracked.
It's still a mystery on how Hawks was summoned, both perplexed to how that would even happen but that's a thought for later, right now, facing the outcome should be the focus.
"I.. why didn't you use your power? A protection spell? A barrier? Attack him, anything! Why did you.. how long had this.."
You stopped him off with a sigh, "I made a promise, Hawks. I can't fully control the force in my power, one can be powerful enough to kill a human. This.. four months. All of this."
The hand stopping him from advancing further dropped as well as your tears. Keigo looked at you, sadness lingering in his face. He moved forward, slowly engulfing you in a hug.
You let him, you let yourself cry in his chest as he ushered you soft words and hummed in your ear. He used his full body to cover the aftermath of his rage, not allowing you to see a reminder of why you shouldn't be near him.
The abuser is alive, to Hawks' relief and disappointment. He won't hear the end of it if he had killed a human being. Even if it's for self defense, Shoto wouldn't be okay with it.
You are fully aware that Hawks is a dangerous man, but he did it to protect you, he had always been there to protect you, and you understand that, he had to do what he had done.
"I'm sorry, kid. I wasn't there to protect you. Those four months.. was hell, probably. This doesn't change the fact that you had gone through hell..." He mumbled. He squeeze you softly, this time his hand ended up petting your head, slowly brushing your hair.
"But I'm here now. I won't let anything happen to you anymore."
