Just One of Those Weeks

Work Text:

It had been a tough week for Tim. He had tests in school all week, and the Anderson case he and Bruce had been working on was nowhere close to being finished.

Tim had asked Jason if he could drop off a file he needed to help with the case. It was a rare moment of peace. Tim couldn’t move on until he had this file, so he sat at the kitchen table, cup of coffee in his hand while he waited.

He didn't know how long he had been staring at his coffee mug when a folder was thrown onto the table in front of him.

“Here you go. Everything I know about that guy is in this file.” Jason said as he opened the door to the fridge looking for a snack. He opened up a container that he thought was full of cookies and took a bite out of one before immediately spitting it out.

“What is this shit?” Jason said, surveying the box looking for some sort of label.

“Damian’s.” Was Tim’s response as he began skimming through the file.

“That explains it. No milk or eggs. Props to him for not eating animals or whatever, but I’m here for some of Alfie’s famous cookies.” Jason kept looking through the fridge before he finally found what he was looking for.

“Bingo!” He took one out and turned around to find Tim staring blankly at the file.

“So, uh. Anything else I can do for you, Timbo?” Jason said as he began putting on his jacket. He wasn't in the mood to run into Bruce today and wanted to get out of there as fast as he could.

“I- I want a hug.” Tim said, eyes still staring at the file.

Jason got a better look at Tim and he saw the dark circles under his eyes and recognized the seemingly hopeless feeling they all had when they had been stuck on a never-ending case with Bruce.

“Sure, sure.” Jason said before Tim could change his mind.

Tim turned to Jason and Jason enveloped him in a big hug as Tim sighed into his shoulder.

“But you tell anyone about this and Damian’s next batch of cookies will be Tim Drake flavored.”

Tim smirked as he pulled away from Jason.

“He can’t even eat those. They aren’t vegan friendly.”

Jason lightly hit him on the back of the head before walking out the door.

A few days later, Batman and Red Robin found Chris Anderson tied up in a warehouse with a tray of cookies and a glass of milk on the ground next to him.
