Early that morning there was a knock on Todoroki’s front door.
Who could that be? He wondered as he made his way to the front of his house. He never got visitors other than Midoriya, but he was away, so he wasn’t sure who it could be. No one really wanted to talk to him, and they wouldn’t ever be the ones to initiate conversation, much less show up at his house. Upon opening the door, he found an Amazon box laying on his porch.
“But I didn’t order anything…” Todoroki mumbled to himself, looking around for the delivery person. “Um, hello? Anyone there? I didn’t order anything.”
When met with silence, Todoroki sighed and walked back into his house with the medium sized package tucked under his arm. Once inside, he laid the brown box on his kitchen countertop and did a quick google search on ‘what does one do when they find a package at their front door but they didn’t order it and so it belongs to someone else and they’re panicking immensely.’ But ultimately, google was no help. Although, it did tell him that he was legally allowed to keep it as a free gift if he wanted to.
However, he didn’t want to keep it. Someone else had ordered this and it would be wrong to take it for himself, even if he was the slightest bit curious what was inside.
Okay, maybe extremely curious. But opening it is still wrong.
But what if they’re never able to find who ordered it in the first place? What would they do then? Just take it back to wherever it came from? If Todoroki opened it now, at least someone would be using it.
“No. Shouto. You’re better than this. It’s someone else’s package and not yours, therefore, you have no right to open it.” He whispered to himself. Finally convinced not opening it was the right thing to do, he slowly backed away from the box that lay on his counter. Just as he was about to exit the room, he had a thought that he couldn’t shake: What if there’s a cat in there? Immediately, ignoring all previous mental warnings he had given himself, he dashed towards the box and quickly got out a pair of scissors.
“So much for not opening it.” He sighed, carefully sliding one of the scissors blades against the tape.
After successfully cutting all the tape, he carefully opened the box and looked inside.
It wasn’t a live cat exactly. However, when he reached into the box, he found a medium sized cat plush taking up the whole box.
Welp, it’s mine now. Oh well. Too bad. They wouldn’t have gotten it back anyway. Todoroki thought, showing a small smile and grasping the stuffed animal tightly.
It was less than a week later when his doorbell rung again, and Todoroki would be lying if he said he wasn’t excited.
Todoroki was sitting on a chair reading peacefully, seated with a giant blanket covering his legs and the cat plush he had recently received placed securely beside him.
Whoever was at the door, was quite impatient. They’d already rung the bell 6 times in the past several moments.
“I’m coming!” Todoroki called out, and the doorbell ringing ceased. Smiling, he marked the page of his book and stood up.
Sure, taking packages was wrong, he knew that. But it was the fault of whoever thought it was a good idea to accidentally send him a package with cat items inside.
To be honest though, he shouldn’t be that excited for someone to ring his doorbell. Getting a package accidentally delivered to your door is a once in a life time thing, and there was no way it would happen again. It was just a fun surprise. This time, Todoroki assumed, Midoriya was probably just stopping by to see how he was doing. He did so quite often after all. The only reason it couldn’t have been him last time was he was away on some mission or something. But Midoriya was back now, so that had to be it.
Walking over to the door, Todoroki unlocked it quickly and swung it wide open. “Hey Midoriya, I was just-” He stopped talking once he realized there was no one at the door.
Looking down, he noticed another package, significantly smaller than the last, sitting at his doorstep. “Anyone there?” Todoroki asked, primarily to make sure no one was watching as he took in the box.
He set it on his kitchen countertop as he did last time, and carefully looked around for his only pair of scissors. When met with nothing, he decided it was the universes way of telling him he shouldn’t open it. But you know what? Screw the universe. Todoroki looked at the box carefully, and decided his best bet was just to rip the box to shreds.
So that’s what he did.
One horribly mangled box later, he found himself holding a mug with a cat on it.
Whoever had originally ordered this, he decided, was now his best friend. Sorry Midoriya. This person likes cats. He thought, half joking, but still mildly serious.
Todoroki set the mug down beside the cardboard box shreds on his kitchen countertop and walked out of the room, thinking. Who keeps ordering these packages? He wondered. They probably won’t end up making this mistake a third time so I guess this was it.
Oh how wrong he was.
It only hit him after the 5th package arrived at his door that maybe this was intentional. After all, any normal person should’ve realized by now that maybe they entered the wrong address. He also realized that he should’ve checked who the package was originally for, but it must’ve slipped his mind. After all, he’d been preoccupied with the amount of cat merchandise he’s been getting. Another hint that, maybe, this was intentional. Todoroki had never actually met someone who liked cats as much as he did.
Picking up the box, instead of immediately destroying it like he normally did, Todoroki flipped the package over to its side swiftly, hearing a quiet shattering noise.
Todoroki cursed quietly under his breath before reading the label.
Katsuki Bakugou.
Todoroki stared at the label dumbfounded.
Bakugou?
Like, the Katsuki Bakugou?
The one who Todoroki has liked for so long, but was too much of a coward to say anything?
So there were three options to consider here. One, Bakugou is a crazy cat person who’s been ordering cat merch for months just to have it accidentally delivered to Todoroki’s door, two, Bakugou was intentionally sending the packages to Todoroki’s, knowing he had a very mild cat obsession, and three, the old Bakugou has been taken hostage by aliens and has been replaced with a shape shifting clone.
“The third one.” Todoroki mumbled to himself. “Definitely the third one.”
Although, he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t curious on the actual reason these packages were showing up at his house. So, like any reasonable person would, Todoroki picked up his phone and dialled Bakugou’s number.
He picked up after the second ring.
“‘Sup?”
Todoroki sat in silence pondering what to say next. He really didn’t think this through did he? “Uh, hey Bakugou.” Todoroki chuckled awkwardly.
On the other end of the phone, Bakugou let out a small laugh. “So you’ve finally figured it out, huh? Thank goodness. I was about to start including random letters with my named signed on them.” Bakugou smiled even though Todoroki couldn’t see him. Although, that was probably a good thing. “To be honest though, I wasn’t sure you’d even be able to piece it together then.”
“Hey!” Todoroki pouted as Bakugou laughed. “I’m not that oblivious!”
“You sure?” Bakugou asked. “Then tell me, why did I intentionally get those packages sent to you?”
