The Me Behind The Mirror

Summary:

And this here, kids, is the reason why we should go to therapy instead of dealing with everything by ourselves.

Have fun.

Chapter 1: Mirrors And Dark Rooms

Chapter Text

The sound of cracking glass filled the air and sent a shiver down Izuku's spine, making the hair on his neck and arms stand up.
He looked up from his desk where he had been sitting to see what had made that sound.
The room was filled with pure darkness.
Which was weird, considering that Izuku was pretty sure it was the middle of the day.

Wait when had he gone to his classroom?
And where was everyone else?

He stood up, looking around but no one was there.
He was all alone...

Another shiver ran down his spine, making him freeze.
He gulped, trying to shake the feeling of fear that was rising inside him off, and wrapped his arms around himself.

It was okay.
Everything was fine.
He just needed to find out where everyone had gone.

Another sound of cracking glass arose and made Izuku nearly jump out of his skin.
A movement at the corner of his eyes caught his attention and he swirled around, prepared to fight whatever it was.

A big, old-looking mirror emerged just a few centimeters away from him.

Izuku hesitated, unsure.
He looked around again, just to make sure that there was really no one else in that dark room with him but he couldn't see anyone.

It was just him and the mirror.

He stared at it again, a mix of fear and curiosity in his eyes.

Though it was odd that a mirror appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the room, he, for some reason, was more curious about the crack that spread across the mirror.

He slowly reached his hand out and gently ran along the lines with his fingers.
A big, thin crack...

But... why was it there?
He looked around the darkroom, trying to find the cause of the crack but there was nothing. The room was just empty.

There weren't even walls...

Wait, what?

How could the room not have walls?
Was he seeing wrong?
Was something wrong with his eyes?

Well, it didn't matter anyway.
Or did it?
He didn't feel like it did but a room without walls...?
Whatever.
He could look at it later.

Anyway, there wasn't anything around him that could've caused a crack.
It was only him and the mirror in the room or whatever this place was.

He wanted to turn back to the mirror but halfway into the motion, he stopped.
A chill suddenly ran from his fingers, which were still touching the glass, across his whole body, making every hair on his body stand up again.

Every inch of him tensed up as his breathing got faster.
Should he?
No better not.
But why not?
Just one second ago everything was fine but he couldn't shake off the feeling that... something was off.
Something changed.
Something that hadn't been there a second ago, has suddenly appeared.

And it was starring at him...

Izuku swallowed past the lump inside his throat.
Part of him wanted to turn around and look at the mirror again but another, slightly larger part told him to not be a fucking idiot and just run.

But there shouldn't be a problem, right?
Maybe it was just his body overreacting because he was all alone in the darkness of a room that had no walls.

What could possibly go wrong...

With this thought, he decided to turn around.
But he didn't look at the mirror.
Just at the crack.
Nothing was off with it. The crack looked like it had the whole time.

Then he looked down at the bottom of the mirror.
He saw his legs in the reflection that were in his limited-edition All Might pajama pants.

Okay. Nothing looked off.
Izuku took a deep breath and clenched his hands into fists while he slowly looked up.

It's okay. It was his own reflection.
Everything was fine.

With every inch, the fear inside him became greater, making his heartbeat so loud he could hear it in his ears.

Before his eyes could land on his face, he stopped.

He didn't want to see it.
He felt like he shouldn't.
He really shouldn't.

He should be running away.
What the heck was he thinking??

Sweat was dripping down his face and his breath came out shallow.

It was just a reflection of himself.
A picture of his self, damn it. The only scary thing would be his bed hair that always looked like a tornado had attacked him while he had been sleeping.

Why was he so frightened?
No...
Petrified. He was petrified for his life...

Honestly, in any other situation he'd probably just leave the room and the mirror in it behind but somehow... he felt like he didn't have that kind of option here.

He took a deep breath and took all his courage to finally look at his face.

He nearly passed out.

Or at least that's how he felt like.
Terror had already taken control of him and his heart kept missing some beats.
His whole body was shaking.

The reflection was him but at the same time, it was not.
It looked like him yet the face...
Its mouth was only a pitch-black hole, opened so wide as if it was screaming.

No teeth, no tongue. Nothing.
Just a black hole.

And the same was for its eyes.
They were wide open as if it was looking at something horrifying and just as dark and empty as the mouth.

Izuku tried to take a step back but his body wasn't listening at all.
It felt like he had no control of it anymore.
Every nerve in his body felt numb and his fingers were ice cold.

A thick, black liquid started pouring out of the reflection's mouth as it slowly started to move.

With horror coating his whole body in ice, Izuku watched as the hand of the... thing reached out of the mirror and tangled his fingers with Izuku's.

Izuku had already felt sick to his stomach from all these different emotions collapsing over his body, but now he was just straight up about to throw up.

He had to cover his mouth when he gagged.
He needed to go.
He needed to leave and that as fast as he could.
But he still couldn't. It was like his feet were glued to the ground.
His eyes burned when he started to tear up.

The thing in the mirror took a step closer towards Izuku.
Okay, now he seriously felt like he will lose consciousness from all the panic he was feeling.

When he finally managed to move one of his legs to run away, his legs gave in, completely gone numb from the fear he had been feeling the whole time.
At the same time, the creature pushed its other hand through the mirror and covered Izuku's face with it.

Thousands of glass pieces flew around them when the mirror finally shattered and the darkness inside of it broke out and flooded Izuku's entire being.

Notes:

Yeah the reason the summary is like that is bc I’m stupid at summarising stuff. My only plan for this fanfic is just to like… unalive a bunch of people and cry so yeah.

Hope you liked in anyways!

Oh and if the grammar was awful… I don’t have any beta-readers so I’m sorry qwq
